Mike Evans, Finally!

November 2nd, 2020

Pretend I’m in the end zone, Tom!

It is starting to become a legitimate question.

How is it that park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting Bucs quarterback Tom Brady finds the likes of Jaydon Mickens, but for reasons unknown can never seem to find potential Hall of Fame receiver Mike Evans?

(No, Joe isn’t dropping a Jameis line here.)

But man, when the Bucs are goal-to-go, Brady has zero problems finding Evans.

When Evans caught his touchdown pass tonight on a sweet pitch-and-catch (the spiral was pretty as can be and Evans stretched out that basketball body of his to haul it in), that marked the 22nd time in as many tries when having a goal-to-go situation that the Bucs scored a touchdown.

The score gave the Bucs a 22-17 lead. They never looked back.

That is just unreal.

Joe doesn’t think the Bucs are anywhere close to that without Brady.

Evans battled it out. He was double covered all game (no surprise there).

Its very glaring to see our drop off in offensive production when we don’t have Godwin out there to balance things out in the receiving game.

Sure wish we could pick up another strong receiver to give us some insurance.

Mike has no burst…glad AB plays Sunday night….

    Great win…

    On to NO…

    GO BUCS

  3. Ben the GA Buc Says:

Damn straight! We have the GOAT. He makes it happen.

  4. Taylor Says:

No burst lol everybody around Mike Evans are nobody’s…he’s doubled all day what do you expect??

  5. adam from ny Says:

    something is definitely up joe

  6. JimmyJack Says:

Didnt Evans have 5 catches today?

Brady missed him badly down the sideline. Hits that(which he should) and nobodies talking.

And dont forget Mike forces the PI call which was huge. He was a huge reason we won today…….And on his TD I though he had no chance to get to it. He made a great diving play I had thought.

  7. TJ Tillman Says:

Anybody notice how much they are playing Evans in the slot ?

  8. BradyBucs Says:

Randy Moss told Brady not to let Evans get 1,000 yards to break his most initial seasons with a 1,000+ that he and Evans are tied for now.

    I’m joking.

  9. Pelsbuc61 Says:

This offense struggles without Godwin. Hopefully AB will ramp up the offense.

  10. Bucsfan81 Says:

I think mike ankle is messed up still. He is probably playing hurt and with Godwin hurt and in and out of the lineup mike is having to play injured more than he should.

  11. 813bucboi Says:

    Taylor

Mike is still hurt…he has no burst off the line….

    Watch the game clown….

    GO BUCS

  12. jimm Says:

    mikens over tyler johnson ?

  13. #1bucfan Says:

Evans wasn’t looking like he was hurt. I saw twice Evans was open and Brady didn’t even look his way. Then there was the over throw. I get he was hurt earlier in the season and maybe is still dealing with it but geez it’s like he’s not even trying to throw to him sometimes. I also know that sometimes teams double team him and only Winston would force the ball to him but the coaches and Brady have to get him more involved he’s a beast feed Evans more

  14. adam from ny Says:

the PI call was a total act by evans and brady…

it’s wild they can pull that sheet…lol

ME13 is a savvy dude out there…and got bradbury back

  15. REDZONE BA Says:

Agree @Joe’s. Weird not hearing ME13 name more often for targets. Personally, I want ME13 to get 1000 yds this season AND win. i guess if ME13 gets lots of TDs and gets to finally participate in a playoff game and beyond, he will be happy. Go Bucs!

  16. unbelievable Says:

Evans has been injured all season, but the timing between him and Brady is still off, especially on the deep balls (the few that get thrown his way). Maybe it’s bc of the injury, I dunno.

I also hate how much he lines up in the slot. Just seems like a waste when you could have Godwin or Tyler Johnson or even AB next week playing there…

Either way, the offense definitely looks way different w/ out Godwin on the field, which I imagine was a primary driving force in picking up AB.

  17. SOEbuc Says:

That TD didn’t look like a banged up Evans. Didn’t see any pain on the field. Talk about double team, what happens if AB comes through and Godwin comes back???

  18. ModHairKen Says:

Is the goal to score more than the other teams or to get Evans the ball? They won. Stats are for losers.

Randy Moss told Brady not to let Evans get 1,000 yards to break his most initial seasons with a 1,000+ that he and Evans are tied for now.

    Could be true!!

  20. Coburn Says:

Man I absolutely loved that gesture by Evans… Passes it to Smith.. you do the honours big man. Feel bad for Evans this year , playing banged up and not many balls, but he’s gutting it out and he’ll get his eventually.. maybe starting as early as next week with AB coming in

  21. Rod Munch Says:

What is Evans at in PI yardage now? Has to be around 150 yards. Add those 150 yards to his actual yardage and he’s well over 500 yards on the season with 7 TDs, meaning his pace would be around 1050 yards and 14 TDs. Those PI calls have all been legit – so it’s not like they’re garbage calls that he had no chance to catch … and that’s with him not being healthy all year and getting double teamed in a number of games.

With AB coming, hopefully Godwin back, and Miller as a deep threat, plus Gronk, teams will have to play Evans one-on-one, and is anyone really stopping evens one on one? If you say Jenkins, he had nearly 70 yards in PI calls in week, plus gave up a TD.

  22. Evolvingbucsfan Says:

I saw many plays where Evans was open in the flat or on the sidelines, Brady just didn’t look his way. I watched Evans the whole game, Evans looked totaly healthy and not doubled all game, some, but not all. Somethings up and i don’t like it, Evans is the best receiver on that field and you have to use him more and predictable run game will not win you Playoff games. Brady looked so off and couldn’t get into a rhythm, Bucs almost laid down and got punched in the mouth.

UGLY W…….but I’ll take it, they better get their head out of there @rse quick because the Aints are up next.

  23. Ed Says:

I think many are missing the point. Mike Evans’ strength as a receiver is to battle for balls and use his high catch radius. Tom Brady isn’t a jump ball passer. He is precise and his best throws are darts to receivers coming out of their breaks.

Mike’s route running has been hampered by his injuries. He isn’t able to explode by defenders and get behind them. Brady isn’t going to wait for him to come open like Winston so the ball is going to the quicker guys like Mickens, who was breaking off routes with precision.

I think Mike needs his speed to push the defenders back and without it now they are sitting on him. I didn’t see very many replays where he was getting open.

Godwin on the other hand has the quickness to get into space and run after the catch. Antonio Brown is also very quick.

I would like to see Evans limited and rested up more for the playoffs. Having a big receiver that is running at about 75% of his normal speed isn’t helping. Let those ankles and hamstring injuries heal up.

  24. Dreambig Says:

If I am Mike Evans, I am starting to get a little pissed off. Mickens all night? Really? I don’t know if its Brady or Leftwitch but one of those two almost got us beat, getting a little too cute trying to win with practice squad players. 1st quarter was Mickens and Tanner Hudson targets. You had Evans, Miller, Gronk, Brate, Tyler Johnson available, and those two never will be’s are the targets? You have to be kidding. That nonsense almost cost us the game.

  25. Anonymous Says:

Honestly bradybucs may have been joking with the doing it for moss comment but honestly other than that the only other thing that makes sense is Brady and Evans don’t really get along if you notice Evans never sits in the huddle til the end of the play being called and I don’t ever really see them talking on the sideline

  26. Valentine Says:

This is why the bucks have been loosing, care too much about individual stats. It’s about winning plain and simple, not stroking the ego of a pre Madonna

  27. Kevin Farrell Says:

Use to care about “STATS” too, until I 👀 our record, 🤔🤔6-2. I know Evans feels similar, about the Ws not 🔝🙄!
