“Nice Lift”

November 27th, 2019

Ronald Jones’ final five carries Sunday amassed a total of 11 yards. So to close out the victory, playcaller Byron Leftwich put RoJo on the bench with the Bucs leading 28-16.

Speaking yesterday, Bucco Bruce Arians said he loved what he saw next.

That would be Peyton Barber.

With everyone in the building likely knowing what was coming, Barber ran for six yards on first down. Timeout Falcons. Next it was Barber for six yards. Timeout Falcons.

Barber was stuffed on the next snap, but he followed that up on 2nd-and-11 with an eight-yard run. The Bucs took the ball out of Jameis Winston’s hands on third down and Barber was stuffed before they took a delay of game on fourth down, but the damage was done when it came to chewing eating up a load of time.

“In our last drive, Peyton Barber came in and gave us a nice lift [chunks of yards] and ate up a bunch of clock,” Arians gushed on Buccaneers Radio.

In Arians’ mind, Barber and Jones have become a real two-handed monster (though not a very scary one). Barber has 105 rushes this season while Jones has 119.

Still, Joe would like to see more Jones. He’s not in on the two-minute offense. He’s rarely used in short yardage. And he was pulled when the Bucs needed to close out the game.

The season is lost. Let’s see Jones get more reps.

Regardless, kudos to Barber for picking up the tough yards when everyone knew the run was coming.

OC still taking the ball out of JWs hands when the game is on the line….lol…

    great job barber….

    GO BUCS!!!!

Bucs have a horrible run blocking execution and personnel. Even against soft defenses, the number of times you see RoJo get tackled for a loss with a defender bursting through the gap or man handling some o-lineman is frequent. RoJo can have superstar RB stats if we had better blocking. He has an amazing ability to make people miss once he gains some acceleration. He does it every time when he gets a couple of yards beyond LoS untouched. Barber can bulldoze through some bad blocking, and that is a great complimentary playstyle for RoJo

    Keep running the ball, baby!

Both are pretty good. When the blocks are there – even a little bit.

Still looking to see ROjO get 20 touches and see what he can do, once he does and has a really good game, coaching staff will make excuses as to why he hasn’t been getting that many touches. All I know is they went away from the hot hand when ROjO had that “how ya like me now” series for Dirk that ended in a TD

  8. Kobe Faker Says:

“Kobe told Barber to make 1 cut and go vertical

Barber wants to shake and bake every defender in front of him

soon he is gang tackled from behind because he wants to run over and beatup every defender he sees

instead of downfield B line to the endzone, Barber shakes sideways horizontally

our complete just doesnt have the awareness and proactive thinking players”

813 man you really are clueless some times.

28-16 at the end of the game is not “the game on the line”, it’s called chewing up the clock. This is what every team does with a 2-score lead at the end of a game.

    Welcome to football.

    813-

The words “with the game on the line” are not written anywhere is this article. Because the game was not on the line at that point, they were eating up clock.

Try worrying about your own reading comprehension, dumba$$

    😂😂😂

Running the ball when the D is expecting it is easy pickings and no one should be judging either RB. Unless you have a top 5 offense line it is a numbers game where the defense lines up more players then blockers.

Despite the two JW interceptions this was the best overall Bucs game this season. Good runs, good passing, good defensive line play and surprisingly good play by the young defensive backs. I agree with others here that RoJo deserves more carries. He is a threat to break a big play at any time. Barber gives you all he has on every run, but rarely busts one long. RoJo has more speed, spins and breaks tackles. Give him enough plays and he will break a big one, or two or more. He is a “dancer” with power!
