Harmony With Receivers

July 29th, 2018

No clashing of egos.

Man, when a team is freaking loaded like the Bucs in the passing game, how can a quarterback give any receiver enough touches?

Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson, Chris Godwin, Adam Humphries, O.J. Howard and Cam Brate might just be the deepest set of passing game weapons in the NFL.

And despite so many receivers, no one has yet to get hacked off that he is not the alpha dog, or the main target of America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

That’s what Cam Brate said as can be seen on Buccaneers.com.

Brate noted nobody’s ego got in the way last year and if the Bucs are winning, Brate doesn’t see this issue popping up this year either.

“We had the same group last year and everyone was happy the way that went, as far as getting touches,” Brate said. The season didn’t go how we wanted it to. So hopefully, we can figure things out, distribute the ball well and put the [opposing] defense in a tough spot.”

The key will be wins. If the Bucs can get off to a hot streak, Joe doesn’t expect any kvetching either. But if the expected losses come and pile up quickly, discord could raise its ugly head.

Another great attribute of this WR/TE group is they are complementary pieces.
Each has a talent that’s just a little different than the other.

We have such a variety of weapons! DK should be salivating at imagining getting open receivers.

Joe, our cup runneth over at receiver.
Why not trade a receiver for DB?

  3. Broy34 Says:

Because they like their db’s. My Stewart is turning heads. They have grimes. Hargreaves will improve if he doesn’t play 35 yards off the line and then there’s Carlton Davis. Ryan Smith is god awful however

    @Broy34
    Gotta agree with you.
The DBs might not suck this year.
Pray that one of the rookies steps up and Grimes doesnt get dinged.

    “35 yrds off the line”. . . . snicker

I’m not expecting losses to come and pile up quickly, I won’t even entertain that thought. I do expect close and hard fought games, no sleepwalking while the opponent racks up a daunting lead. Ready to compete from the kickoff. The tough schedule… meet the tough Bucs.

Ryan Smith is God Awful and Hargreaves isn’t?
For a No.11 overall, all he seems to be good at is wagging his finger.

As of right now, the receiving corps of Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson, Christ Godwin, Adam Humphries, O.B. Howard, and Cam Brate are the keys to success for the Bucs this season. Forget about the “America’s Quarterback” Jameis Winston moniker and let’s see whether its Winston, Ryan Fitzpatrick, or Ryan Griffin who can get the ball to these play makers with the greatest efficiency – read that as scoring. The one who wins that competition in training camp and during the preseason is the QB that should start for the Bucs this season. It’s time for Joe and the rest of the fans to quit looking to Winston as “the man,” and look at who can get the Bucs the most “Ws”. Remember Tampa’s only Lombardi Trophy was brought home by journeyman QB Brad Johnson who didn’t have near these weapons to throw to.

RickinFtMyers. That would be great and all. But the quarterback that everyone knows can get us the most wins. Can’t play the first three games. To even say that Ryan Griffin or Ryan Fitzpatrick gives us a better chance than jameis is assinine. I know you will say but jameis turns the ball over a lot. The last time Fitz was a starting quarterback he got benched after throwing 6 picks in a game. And do you remember the game he had in week 17 if they won they were in the playoffs and I think he threw 3-4 picks in the first half. And single handily cost the bills the game.
