March 27th, 2018

Dirk Koetter was talking this morning at the NFL Owners Meetings

Joe is live at the NFL Owners Meetings in Orlando and just wrapped up breakfast with Dirk Koetter.

The head coach hit on many topics and the JoeBucsFan video below is of Koetter identifying Jameis’ main takeaway from the 2017 season.

It’s not what you might think.

Interesting stuff. Joe is intrigued to find out what quarterbacks Jameis consulted with.

Joe…would have been nice if you could have gotten us a written transcript. Will have to hook up external speakers to hear this.

Jameis is tough, no doubt, Koetter is not unfortunately

  3. ben Says:

Would the bucs consider taking a qb with the 1st pick in the draft? Keep the best qb for the team and trade one next year for several draft picks .. bucs aren’t going to super bowl this year anyway so … {just a thought)

“Would the bucs consider taking a qb with the 1st pick in the draft?”

That would be a double waste of picks. You are talking about ignoring a real need for the team because some people don’t like Jameis. None of there QBs this year will do well in the NFL…they all suck. So it would be throwing away a pick.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Jameis is fine….give him a running game and a halfway decent defense and he’ll bring a winner to Tampa….
Don’t even need to give him more protection but that would be nice also….

  6. SteveK Says:

    Ben,

The only way I would take a QB in the 1st is if we KNOW Jameis will be suspended next year. If that’s the case, then why the hell not?

I thinking jameis will be fine, and I hope he can stay out of off the field controversy. If we lose 3 for a six game suspension, then we are done with him. Can’t support a QB that doesn’t respect women. Again, I’m hopeful it gets put to bed and we can count on having 3 under center for a long time.

I hope Joe and Ira can get the scoop on this situation ASAP. It’s terrible to go thru FA and the draft without clarity on our franchise qb’s future.

I thought it was learning how to eat his fingers

  8. SteveK Says:

^lol! That was the weirdest thing I’ve seen in football. No doubt.

  9. Pickgrin Says:

What’s with the ugly azz jacket Dirk?

  10. Buddy Says:

Jameis went to get some real coaching from Jimbo this week in College Station at #campJameis. Cam, Evans, Desean couple others out there trying to get #kluekessKoetter out of their brains.

  11. BuccNutz1 Says:

He really should learn to keep his hands to himself and stop holding this franchise hostage. The next time it happens will prolly cost us 10 games and a lost season. I was a huge fan of his at FSU, but the kid tries to hide his deficiencies with a an over the top work ethic hoping to disguise his true personality. I hope I’m wrong but not willing to give him the benefit of doubt any more. This coming from a huge FSU fan.

I used to like DK. I really did. he’s full of bull. I don’t care about what jw learned in the summer this is an easy pitch for the coach. I want the doug martin story. why did they let the bucs sink with this guy 2 years in a row when everybody who watched the bucs games saw how bad he was and especially with all the off the field issues. a real nfl coach should not make a mistake like that (which they admitted eventually by cutting him). The didn’t even get a FA RB so they basically saying they have faith in PB who they put behind DM for a reason we can’t even speculate upon.

    Agree with doctor berto

  15. webster Says:

Im so glad a team with a tradition of winning and a model franchise in the nfl like the steelers got rid of big ben twice for allegedly raping women which he paid off and was suspended for. Way to go steelers. Buc fans are funny smh…..

  16. Oneilbucs Says:

    We have a good qb.

  17. Oneilbucs Says:

    We have a good qb.

  18. Doctor Stroud Says:

The problem is that once Jameis Winston learns one “thing”, then there is another “thing” to learn (like not fumbling), and then another, etc., until so much time passes that he needs to sign a new contract. All of the draft gurus said that he was the most “NFL Ready” QB in years. I hope that 2018 is the season where he puts it all together on and off the field.

  19. webster Says:

    Doctor stroud

He was the most nfl ready qb in years evident by the fact he was the 1st qb in HISTORY to throw for over 4000 yards in his first two years. He would have had 3 straight had he not missed the equivalent of four games. Being nfl ready did not mean he was a finished product. I am not sure why tampa fans cant grasp that. There was no qb at year 3 better then they were 8 years in the league. Look no further than brees, brady, manning etc. Manning in his 4th year only completed 62.7 % of his passes a career high. Jameis completed 63.8% in his 3rd. Manning was still throwing 23 ints in his 4th year and 19 ints in his 5th year. Jameis has never thrown 19. But sure, lets hold jameis to a higher standard than all other qbs. This fan base is too funny

    WEBSTER,

Stop being sensible and telling the truth; don’t you know we know live in a time where a biological man can become a biological woman with a mere thought? People want fantasy in 2018 … they hate “truth” …
