“We Don’t Need To Come Out Like That On Defense”

October 3rd, 2016

Kwon

Kwon Alexander, aka the Jameis of the defense, is starting to become the Dirk Koetter of the defense because of his candid commentary.

Joe highly reccomends the two-minute postgame audio of Kwon below, via WDAE-AM 620.

Trailing 17-7 at halftime, the Bucs’ defense was on the field first with Broncos rookie Paxton Lynch under center. Lynch, coming off the bench in his first-ever NFL game, engineered a 16-play drive for a field goal that ate 7 minutes and 57 seconds off the clock.

How does that happen?

“It was crazy. The second half? That was bad,” Kwon said. “We don’t need to come out like that on defense. We got to come out better with a lot more energy.”

Yes, Kwon, a lot more energy would be nice.

Kwon also touched on more topics, including suggesting his teammates start staying late and giving more during the week to find answers.

Kwon is all-in on the Bucs. Joe wishes the Bucs had a lot more like him.

    @Joe

C’mon where is a Brent Grimes article?? Don’t be scared of Miko. He’s horrible. Again she was right about Tannehill and dolphins fans were right about him. Time to move on entirely too many tds. At least this time he wasn’t bodied he was just destroyed by Sanders.

  2. DallasBuc Says:

The stands at the end of that game was embarrassing. Almost happy to be on the road next week so they don’t have to face that level of fan apathy and despair. Sad stuff.

  3. Conte Piscateli Says:

I will never understand how we played against Lynch. Guy is our there for his first action of the season as a rookie and we are giving him nice soft open underneath throws. No pressure on him. Finally, in the 4th quarter we started playing press man and making him make harder down field throws, still no pressure but he missed the deep throws. Mike Smith didn’t have an adjustment in the game plan for the back up, and the loss of our pass rushers.

  4. Youngbucs Says:

How about jameis hit the guys who are open because they are open he’s not reading the field

  5. DallasBuc Says:

    Fear the Miko.
I really am curious if any of you Twitter people can tell me what she is throwing out when her hubby is getting abused by backup QBs?

  6. Supersam Says:

This team is complete and total garbage. I’ve been a bucs fan since 97 and yesterday was the first time ever I turned a live Bucs game off. EVER. This team is poorly coached once again, unprepared once again, and just utterly has no interest in winning once again. Clean house and start over. Once again.

  7. tmaxcon Says:

I feel bad for Kwon and Jameis they can’t do it by themselves. It sucks that the worthless fragile former face of the franchise has infected the entire team with his weak mental attitude and his acceptance of losing. he’ll, even if he accepted mediocrity it would be better. Gmc is a locker room cancer with a smile bucs will never turn it around with him.

  8. Dr. Lob Says:

Start Glennon at quarterback, Winston needs to take a break.

  9. tmaxcon Says:

    Dr. Lob

Yeah putting in a heartless and worthless back up in glennon is the answer. Glennon has embarrassed himself 2 preseason s in a row and cost the bucs a 4 or 5th Rd draft pick. Yeah that’s the answer put in a no talent punk and watch him dive out of bounds every other down

  10. 911bucs Says:

Yes a few guys are lighting her up on twitter

  11. 911bucs Says:

But what does she care she hit the lotto with Grimes

  12. D-Rome Says:

C’mon where is a Brent Grimes article?? Don’t be scared of Miko. He’s horrible. Again she was right about Tannehill and dolphins fans were right about him.

I’m sure that article will be coming soon enough. He’s been terrible. Want to know who else has been terrible this season? Alterraun Verner. He was benched in favor of Vernon Hargreaves III. So let’s see, that’s two years in a row that Verner was benched by the head coach. Heck, was Verner or Banks even in the game yesterday? Turns out the previous coaching staff was right about these two.

  13. Pierce Says:

Our defense has a losing mentality.

  14. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I hate to even suggest this. I really hate to.

But Greg Hardy is on the street.

I really hate the thought of bringing him in, but who else for Dline is out there after all our injuries?

Maybe we can hit up the CFL? lol

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Nevermind on Hardy. He was busted for cocaine.

  16. rayjay1122 Says:

As the Cajun in the Water boy movie said…..OH NO, WE SUCK AGAIN!!!

  17. Ramon Sanchez Says:

We just need to get rid of Mike Smith he sucks

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

VH3 isn’t one of our problems on D…..but Conte, Grimes and Verner haven’t been good.
Does anyone find it interesting how our receivers are never wide open but our opponents have open receivers every week?

We have very little speed with our WRs.

The only mismatches we have on the team are Sims out of the backfield and perhaps Cameron Brate.

  19. Ed Says:

Maybe the D.C. is the problem, ever ask why he was looking for a job. Anytime you continue to play the same safeties, who every week is out of position, slow, and always looking in the backfield. Maybe the head coach is the problem, because his player do not like him. The problem began with this coach, when he threw A.S.J. out of practice and discussed it in the media. Then he throws his Quarterback under the bus. Look in the mirror Head coach and replace your D.C. Management please hire a G.M. that knows football and how to grade free agents and can relate to free agents, instead of over paying for the over the hill guys. No one talks about signing a injured free agent, a kicker in the second round and look at the team record since he has been here.

  20. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

blame on the suckiness of this team lies soley on the shoulders of licht the pool bpy gm we have, he did not sign nor draft any decent safeties nor and competent WRs and thus this is the team, i was hoping for 7-9 n the come but they look more like 5-11 or 4-12 and then licht can screw FA and draft up again

  21. DallasBuc Says:

Dusthty- free pass, free agency hero Licht has a top flight (in terms of pay) guard who never once participated in a single practice collecting a fortune to sit on IR. Where’s the Jason Licht bronze statue outside of the stadium?

  22. Pittbucfan Says:

@ rayjay: too funny. @ supetsam: I’ve been a fan since ’76. This stretch now is getting as bad as the 13 or so year stretch of double digit losses from ’80s into 90’s. It’ll turn around eventually. Mind you a lot of us might be dead when said turn around happens.

  23. LakelandBuc Says:

Where is the man that put this crappy team together? He’s in hiding, he don’t have Lovie to take the fall for him.

  24. Tampa Tony Says:

I wouldn’t refer to him as the Jameis of the d unless he starts missing lots of tackles and costing the team games

  25. 813bucboi Says:

VHG has been the brightest star in the secondary….teams rather challenge everybody in the secondary but him….

seems like lovie was right about a lot of things regarding this team….especially verner and banks….one thing lovie would repeatedly during his press conference is, “we’re not there yet”…which was plain and simple and the truth…

@lakelandbuc…i agree…the only scape goat he has now is mike smith…GO BUCS!!!!

  26. Phil Says:

Our defense sucks. I thought they would play a lot better against no name quarterbacks but instead they are making them look like all pros.

  27. Newbucsfan2 Says:

I think the pathetic fans at the stadium contribute to the lack of energy and drive of this team. Geez if your supposed fans can’t even get excited (even when the game is still competitive) then what’s the point of it. Really sad!

  28. Newbucsfan2 Says:

Sh-t if Jameis gets infected by the bucs disease then we might as well just shut this thing down. I’ll wish he had been drafted elsewhere. Fans don’t need to start turning on him now… he is this teams final hope.

  29. Guzzie Says:

Hey Joe, I get it, we suck, coach sucks, GM sucks, QB sucks, RBs suck, WR sucks, secondary sucks, pass rush sucks, etc. and it’s true mostly, one thing that doesn’t suck was the teams we played, 3-1 ATL and RAMS, 4-0 BRONCOS, a better than 1-3 ARZ team on the road, we beat ATL and were a couple of boneheaded, inexperienced plays from beating the Rams, and we aren’t on the Broncos and Cards at home level, that’s fine it’s a process, they seem genuinely pissed off by how they play, my point is after next week our schedule gets really easy for a few games, and winning is contagious and you start by beating weaker competitors, just mark my words, these last 3 weeks are only going to make them better down the road

  30. Guzzie Says:

In the meantime I’ll just continue to get completely hammered each Sunday and root for fantasy team to continue to do well, and anyone who hates fantasy football, ask them to try being a Bucs fan and see if they enjoy football without a fantasy team to root for

  31. Mike Johnson Says:

Aahhhh, not even midseason and there’s a call for Koetter and smith’s heads on a platter. Well, you Bucs fans wanted change in 2 yrs, You got it so..deal with it. This team will not win 6 games this year. And if we are not careful, we might hear…….With the 1st pick in the NFL 2017 draft, the Tampa Bay Bucs select…… You guys wanted Jameis. I wnted Aaron Donald. How is it over half of the NFl teams can win without a first rd QB? I’ll tell you why because they..double down on Defense.

  32. Tampa Tony Says:

    @newbucsfan-

Blaming the fans for the players playing awful is hilarious. Fans can only get excited based on the hope and the way the team plays. We’ve been tortured too long by awful play to get too excited

  33. BigHogHaynes Says:

Stop it with the LOVIE Blame game! Ha ha ha ha, where is the Realist with all that “Coach the LOVIE out of them”! Is there any coach on this NEW/ALL WORLD/STAFF capable of doing their assigned job! Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Tmaxcon this team couldn’t beat Illinois in the corn-fields! Ha ha ha ha ha, my theory THE CONSPIRACY WILL CONTINUE TO RUN DEEPER! Apologies to all these fans now, for crapping on LOVIE! DUMB & DUMBEST!

  34. Chris Says:

Big Hog happy for our teams demise. Just a Lovie fan, you’re worse than the college homers, that’s understandable . Loyalty to a coach that helped bring in the greatness that will forever be known as Chris Conte,

  35. Destinjohnny Says:

News flash that is why in the deepest defensive line draft in 20 years you don’t draft a undersized slow db and a kicker in the first 3 rounds.
With no pass rush and a awful secondary that’s what you are going to get.

  36. Trubucfan22 Says:

The terrible thing about a tough firat quarter of the schedule is that it usually sets the tone for the regular season. I hope our boys are resilient enough to overcome this bad start and right the ship. We knew it would be tough to get more than 2 wins during this stretch, but i didnt expect to get embarassed. I want koetter to succeed. We need his personality here in Tampa. But he needs to fix this shlt show and fast. We all know the owners are quick to pull the cord on a head coach.

  37. Trubucfan22 Says:

And i hate to say it, but it looks like Joe was right about Jim schwartz. Jim is having a heck of year with the Eagles, while the Bucs defense is giving up a record breaking amount of points.

  38. Trubucfan22 Says:

I get the dirk koetter beat down that he rightfully deserves right now. But how could you think Lovie was any good? Lovie sucked, just like Koetter sucks. Neither are worth 2 shlts right now. Get off lovies dlck and look toward the future. Lovie is not coming back.

  39. America's Commenter Says:

    Koetter is awful. He’s Gilligan.

  40. Silent_Partner Says:

Hmmm, Minnesota, another team running a variation of the my scheme, my scheme, my scheme that’s blamed here instead of the stinky defensive personnel. Nice to know that Tampa fans and the Joes would have run Mike Zimmer out of town too just like Ron Rivera and Peete Carroll. But what do they know just like Lovie Smith. When the Bucs finish 4-12, wonder who’ll be to blame.
