Field Position? Advantage Bucs

Booming leg.

This is one of the rare times Joe will write about a punter unless he’s awful or does something awful or is cut, which would be awful.

This Bryan Anger the Bucs signed as a free agent, if recent history is a barometer, really should improve the team if it gets into a field position battle with the Dixie Chicks Sunday.

Last year, Anger averaged 46.3 yards a punt for the Jags. That wasn’t even his career best. Yet for the Bucs, it has been years since they had a punter who put up those kind of numbers.

In fact, not in the AC era of the Bucs (AC =  After Chucky) have the Bucs had a punter that put up Anger’s stats. Twice, the immortal Michael Koenen came close. In 2011 and 2012, Koenen had an average of 45.3 and 45.1, respectively.

So if it is a close game Sunday and the Bucs need to pin the Dixie Chicks on their side of the field after a drive dries up, Joe is confident Anger will make Atlanta fans angry.

Joe, no. No articles about punters. This article is also unacceptable. Don’t violate the golden rule of never doing articles about punters unless they do something incredibly stupid.

  2. Tbbucs3 Says:

Feild position will be a huge advantage for the Bucs but Joe knows, only limited articles about punters will be accepted.

I think Joe just needed to get the line “Anger makes somebody angry” out of his system. With that said, field position is an important part of the game. Go Bucs!

He was a THIRD round pick!!

We have two of the highest drafted special teams players in NFL history!

    I loved this signing!!!

    Punters are VERY IMPORTANT players!!

I really like our special teams players this year, we got a great punter with a booming leg and we all know what Aguayo’s resume looks like as he nailed his last 9 shots of the preseason as well. I can’t remember when we had legs like this, not to mention Noth of them a 2nd and 3rd rnd pick.

Does Jax have a punter who can go even father? Why did they let him go??

  11. feelthepewterpower Says:

    His nickname is “banger”, Joe!

  12. Cobraboy Says:

Anger is a huge upgrade over Schum, and solidifies the punting game.

He can boom when necessary and Schum really couldn’t.

  13. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Anger will be the word that comes to mind if the other Bucs kicker can’t deliver on Sunday.

  14. William Walls Says:

Doesn’t someone with the word Anger stenciled across the back of his jersey just deserve to be a Buccaneer?

  15. William Walls Says:

Fear the Bucs! Even our punter is the personification of anger!
