Bucs great Derrick Brooks rattled then-rookie Redskins linebacker LaVar Arrington just by standing on the field

Cool story in an NFL Network video buried in a chat about “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. Joe thought he’d share.

Yes, Joe already wrote about how special this day is for Bucs rookies. It is a day they will never forget. Just ask former NFL linebacker LaVar Arrington.

In this piece talking about what one should expect from Jameis tonight, Arrington recounted his very first NFL game, which came against the Bucs, and how Bucs iconic linebacker Derrick Brooks freaked him out.

“Derrick Brooks was one of my favorite players,” Arrington explained. “I come out onto the field and I see Derrick Brooks. I started hyperventilating.”

Go ahead and click for more of Arrington’s story and what the panel is looking for if not expects from Jameis tonight.

    @Señor Mofo
    That was english…minus a comma or two.

  8. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    You know…its too bad we don’t have anyone as good as Brooks to create the same effect now.

    McCoy is close. Sort of.

    David is still a long way off. He’s good, but not great yet.

    All four sounded like they were really high on ASJ’s abilities to operate in the middle of the field … security blanket for Jameis as one called it.

    Arrington’s ‘Linus’ comment was hysterical.

    It’s almost time!!!

    This could be the longest three hours in quite awhile. Just can’tseem to get jacked about the PGA.

    I just hope ASJ can become a reliable player for winston. If he isnt on the field or catching the ball then he will not be the “blanket” winston needs. Talent wise he could be a big time threat. But health hurt him last year, and a bad case of butter fingers has hurt him most of camp.
