Morning Cup Of Joe

October 8th, 2026

Welcome to your Morning Cup of Joe, an eye-opener to help Joe’s readers ease into their busy workday with a few football links, wacky news and a pleasant distraction.

Distraction of the Day

Drake Maye isn’t sure Neil Armstrong (or others) ever walked on the moon. [PFT]

DeMeco Ryans taking over Houston’s defense. Yet across the Gulf in Tampa, everything’s fine. [CBS]

Grading the Cam Jurgens trade. [Yahoo!]

Power rankings. [NFL]

Entertaining fight. But Joe has to admit, the dude in the red trunks is getting ripped off by his barber. [TikTok]

So let Joe get this straight: The NFL rakes in how many hundreds of millions of dollars a year from the Big Two macro breweries, sells how many kegs of beer every Sunday and a player pretending to drink a beer after a touchdown gets him fined five-figures??? That may be the height of hypocrisy. And that may be why the NFL has backed off on fining players who pretend to chug beer. [Outkick]

Why is the NFL obsessed with flags? The NFL loves rules. You add more dumb rules, you add more flags. Hit a guy too hard? Flag. Tackle a quarterback? Flag. Some dumbass puts his foot too far back from the line? Flag. Throw out about 35 percent of the rules and get football closer to what it was in the 20th century, you’ll have fewer flags. If anything kills football, it will be the zebras. No one wants to watch zebras throw flags. And yes, Joe agrees, better coaching and players won’t be making dumb penalties. [Front Office Sports]

Quarter-season superlatives. [The Athletic]

LOL Max Kellerman (remember him?) gets bounced from a boxing job and is replaced by “Slater.” Hahahahaha. [Awful Announcing]

Seems like a lot of work. [TikTok]

The flags are what allow big gambling to manipulate the betting payouts. Referees are corrupt.

    Nothing about the rays?

Florio talks about a post-truth America, but fails to comment about the hundreds of times NASA and other government agencies have lied to the public over many decades. There are many examples of NASA obfuscating the truth or flat out lying and you can start with the fact that the original tapes of Neil Armstrong walking on the moon were erased. The original video evidence of the greatest achievement in the history of mankind were destroyed.

  4. Kenton Smith Says:

Anyone who doesn’t believe that Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon back in 1969 is nuts. Crazy as all get out. Oughta be castigated for life, and stoned on the town square.

Allowing anyone who wants to believe a lie of that magnitude makes every single one of us dumber. And we don’t need to get dumber. But we will as long as we give credence to fools, and in that regard we seem to be just warming up.

Maye said ” I’m not sure 200% if we were there or not”, which by itself is a ridiculous nonsensical statement. If 100% of something is the totality of it, any number beyond that means nothing. It’s why I’ve always hated the phrase giving 110%. It’s ridiculous on its face.

Cosell was always fun to listen to – if you didn’t take him too seriously!

Hey conspiracy theorists. Then how did they fool the vast majority of people? Duhhhh

    Flags!

What you said Joe! Don’t let Roger hear you though. “The refs do a fine job” says the Czar.

Wonder what Vince Lombardi would say about these flag happy refs? Flags, flags, flags everybody is flagging”

    Go Bucs!

  9. garro Says:

Having seen multiple shuttle launches I would say they sure went to a lot of trouble and expense to fool us….These conspiracy idiots are the ones who should have been on that short bus. PT Barnum made a huge fortune on folks like these. They have been around for a long time.

    Go Bucs!

I’m not a moon landing denier.

Moon landing deniers exist because NASA is not a truthful or transparent government agency. They have a lengthy history of altering photos, destroying historical data, lying to the public, etc.

I’ve seen photographs taken from lunar orbiters from decades ago that are no longer available in NASA archives. The reason being is these photos show very unusual structures. Instead of allowing the public to question it, they memoryhole it. In several instances when watching the feed from the ISS, NASA will cut transmission as soon as something unusual appears flying by in view of the window.

NASA is more a public relations agency about space rather than an agency about space exploration.

The Bucs are so bad Annie didn’t even bother roasting them.
    🤦‍♂️

Nice someone at least observed the damage penalties have done to the game.

When are they going to get rid of any of the nonsensical rules causing the harm
