Jacob Parrish No Longer Passes Defensed Leader, But He’s Close
October 18th, 2026
Growing into a top CB.
When the Bucs last played and beat Dallas, Bucs corner Jacob Parrish finished the game as the league leader in passes defensed.
After last week’s games, that’s no longer the case.
Currently, Amik Robertson of the Commandos leads the NFL with eight passes defensed. Parrish is tied with five others with seven passes defensed.
Parrish joked to Joe that KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles would like picks. But, at least a pass defensed prevents a completion and may force a punt.
“My ultimate goal is flexing the picks,” Parrish said. “But man, we got to keep doing defending [passes].”
(Yes, Joe knows the Parrish interception against Green Bay counts as a pass defensed.)
Parrish is determined to turn those passes defensed into picks because rewards come with them for him, the team and Parrish’s wallet.
“That’s a goal, man, trying to be a Pro Bowler or All-Pro,” Parrish said. “But the main point is trying to get this team on [a winning streak] [and] making run those playoffs.”
Even though the Bucs are 1-4, they are only one game out of first place in the win column. The NFC South landfill is so bad, the Bucs still have room to battle back.

Ronde 2.0
Ronde was only 5-9. And very smart and very tough.
Morrison was a terrible pick for round 2.
À CB with TWO hip surgeries? Real smart!
I’m so tired of wasting 2nd round picks.
Braswell too. He was slow as molasses.
Trask to be our 4th string QB.
I hope Licht learns his lesson.
And only drafts low risk, quality players in Round 2.
I hope we draft another MLB in Round 2 next year.
Or a RG to replace Mauch.
Or a safety to replace Winfield.
Or a NT to rotate with Vea.
Or an experienced swing tackle to backup Wirfs and Goedeke.

I hope licht drafts a kicker or punter. He’s hit on more draft picks than alot of other gm’s but I think he has lit a few of those draft picks on fire. Drafting trask prime example.

He is going to be great CB.
So is Morrison and Scott
4 great CBs. 2 very good safeties.
Still not a Pass rusher or LBer in sight

Teacherman chris Braswell ran a 4.60 40 and a 1.59 10 yard split both being in the 87th percentile of edge rushers. And a 91 percentile of his speed measurements. And made the annual freak list clocked at 21.9 mph at 6’3” 251 pounds I don’t know where you got slow from. But that’s what a lot of people do here spit out false statements like there the truth without knowing any actual facts. 21.9 mph and you call a dude slow as molasses. Just can’t make this stuff up as you go.

Teacherman. Morrison was rating on many list as the number one cb in the draft his lowest rating was 3rd best. None of his injuries are associated with his hip surgery. For him to last until the second was where you had to get him. Your getting all pro talent in the second if it pans out your a genius. If it fails you tried to get better. When he plays any fan can see he is really impressive since he is basically still a rookie. Looked good out there covering Higgins and chase. Every team has multiple failed 1st and second round picks no one can ever predict the future. Morrison is 26th ranked cornerback in nfl by off in overall defensive grade and 21st in coverage grade. Each starts 3 corners so that’s 96 starters he is ranked better than 11 teams number 1 corner. Not bad for our number 3. If he can get healthy he will be a great player. You can’t knock lick for drafting him while not giving him props for drafting Parrish in the 3rd round. And by the way Morrison has a higher grade than Parrish. Parrish is 25th defensive grade and 32 coverage grade.

Joe … ‘Parrish joked to Joe that KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles would like picks. But, at least a pass defensed prevents a completion and may force a punt.’
Parrish wasn’t joking Joe; the Todd would take picks over sacks any day of the year. And so would I (so would you too I bet). Picks not only end the threat, but it turns the ball over to your offense, often with excellent field position. A sack MIGHT end the drive, or it MIGHT just result in the loss of down & yardage (from which our opponents often recover?).
Just looking at 2025, the top 2 teams in takeaways were (1) the Bears with 33 takeaways; and (2) the Jaguars with 31 takeaways. Bucs in comparison has 23 takeaways (ranked #9) so we did OK.
o Bears: 23 INTs … 10 Fumble recoveries
o Jags: 22 INTs … 9 Fumble recoveries
o Bucs: 13 INTs … 10 Fumble recoveries
So where we ‘fell short’ was in interceptions, not fumble recoveries. And 2025 wasn’t a particularly good year for our defense in general. Ironically, takeaways didn’t do much for the Bears’ defense either; they ended up ranked #23, giving up 415 total points (even worse than us). Still, the Bears made the playoffs, and beat the Packers in the Wildcard game before falling to the Rams 20-17 in Game 2.
For the Jaguars however, takeaways were probably a lifesaver. Their defense ended up being ranked #8 last year. The team ended with a 13-4 record, made the playoffs, but lost the Wildcard game 27-24 to the Bills.
