Win Rates In The Trenches

Joe thinks it is fair to suggest that when it came to trench warfare last Sunday in Cincinnati, the Bucs have seen better days.
The four-letter published its win-rates for linemen. In the past, BSPN’s win-rates have been, well, wonky. Sometimes it has a lineman (or line) come out on top, but when watching with the naked eye, a viewer will come away with a different outcome.

For edge rushers, it is SOS for the Bucs. Doesn’t matter the year. Doesn’t matter the name. Doesn’t matter where the guy was drafted. Doesn’t matter the opponent. Doesn’t matter.
It’s Groundhog Day, man, and it is beyond getting friggin’ old! Of the top 22 edge rushers in win-rates last Sunday, zee-row were with the Bucs.
At least one Bucs defensive tackle showed up to work. Of the top 20 in with pass rush win rates, Calijah Kancey was listed at No. 13. Per BSPN, Kancey won 27 percent of his pass rush snaps.
The Bucs ‘ offensive line almost looked surprised at the physicality of the Bengals defensive line. They weren’t awful, but Joe has seen the Bucs’ front line have better days.
Still, All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs, who didn’t appear to have his normal perfect game, played well enough to be listed at No. 17 among offensive tackles top-20 pass-block win rates. Wirfs, per BSPN, won on 92 percent of Bucs dropbacks.
As far as interior offensive linemen, it seems BSPN recorded center Graham Barton as having a good afternoon in pass blocking. Barton was No. 16, and BSPN had Barton winning 96 percent of his pass blocks on dropbacks.
Still, Joe didn’t need geeky data see the trenches need to step it up if the Bucs want to be considered a serious playoff contender.

Kirk Cousins and the whole AFC North are Bowles Daddy!! Should actually finally get one against the North, as this Browns team would have a tough time even in the SEC. Funny thing is, Arch will probably pull his Uncle Eli, and refuse to go to Cleveland, like Eli shunned the Chargers.

Joe, I think all the reports of the D-line dominating the O-line. I think you asked the question is the D-line that good or is our O-line sub-par. I think we have the answer to that question.

Bowles is an idiot. Nothing about NOT having your team ready to play week one. Bain played a total of SIX snaps in pre-season then the genius plugs the rookie in the starting defense. Not fair to Bain!!!!!!! The entire team was flat against the Bengals.

I saw one stat after the game that explains everything: 33-27.
Then after the game, I saw another stat that tells the story of the season so far: 0-1.
Everything else is irrelevant.

Just read an interesting article on Jack Campbell, Detroit’s MLB. Apparently he was very upset (with his play especially) after the Lions 41-31 loss to the Bills Thursday night. In their first 2 games, the Lions have given up 71 total points, 57 of those in the passing game, and now rank #27 in defense. Not encouraging for a defense that tried hard to ‘renovate itself’ after their #22 ranking last season.
Also seems that the Lions signed Devin White back in August. Although he had 174 tackles for the Raiders last season, very few were impressed. According to Lions’ HC Dan Campbell though, Devin worked hard in the off-season to improve, and the Lions were impressed enough to sign him in August. He’s already gotten in for about 50 def snaps in the first 2 games.

Lmao @ At the guy that says the defensive line played well enough to win. 1. Why was vita voted captain? He is the exact opposite of a commanding presence. He just wants to act goofy and be one of the boys, which is fine – but he’s not captain material. More importantly, was he even alive last week? Did he have a pulse? Because I sure couldn’t tell. What did Bain do? Bain – a 4-3 DE, that specializes in getting up the field is now being asked to be a 3-4 edge and occasionally drop back in to coverage. Sure, that won’t be a disaster or anything. Where was yo yo at? Both the offensive and defensive lines lost and lost bigly against Cincinatti. Sure Baker needs to hold on to the ball, but others need to DO THEIR GD JOB too

Both sides of the trenches can play better and I think they will. Commenters on here keep crying that Bowles lost this game or his defense couldn’t stop the one of the better offenses in the league. Their hate for Bowles is clouding their judgement. These same people blame Bowles for gas prices , bakers fumbles and now the sweeny ads. Baker single handily lost us that game and if you say otherwise you really didn’t watch the game. When baker cuts the turnovers we will win games. Not many if any can win a game in the NFL turning the ball over 4x.

I must’ve watched something different than some. I saw a completely ineffective defensive line, and certainly not one that played “well enough to win”!
By that logic, despite fumbling 3 times, the QB played well enough to win!
It’s not good enough, period! Expect more. I look forward to tomorrow’s game. Hopefully there’s some chips on shoulders, both offensively and defensively!
