Luke Goedeke Wants A Home Field Advantage

Yes, the Buccaneers offense has been known to go to a silent snap count at home because fans screaming for the opposition get too loud.
It’s deflating.
Bucs right tackle Luke Goedeke had a chat with JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman in the locker room this afternoon and emphasized how he feels it’s critical for Sunday’s game to be a true home atmosphere.
“I’me hoping the Krewe shows up and makes a lot of noise; that affect the other team so much,” Goedeke said. “I dont’ think a lot of people realize how much the fans play into it. Between guys being late off the ball, false starts, delays of games, it’s so detrimental for the visitors.”
So what will it look like on Sunday at The Licht House for the Bucs’ home opener? The Joe typing here expects 10,000 Browns fans, so roughly 15 or 20 percent of the butts in the seats. (“Other Joe” thinks it’ll be closer to 50 percent.)
Browns fans travel well and if they were circling an early season road game while the team still had hope, Joe is confident watching Baker Mayfield play against the Bucs would be enticing. Plus, the Bucs have plenty of available tickets that are reasonably priced by NFL standards.
That’s the sad reality for Tampa Bay. Often being forced to deal with visiting fans is an issue.
Why haven’t the Bucs sold out opening day yet? Joe will leave that the sports radio talking heads and their callers.

25% browns fans is my guess. But it’s ok because they will be booing their own starting QB and calling for their second stringer to play.

Todd Bowles is the main reason. Baker to a lesser extent.
No one wants to be fleeced, boil in the heat, and watch such a putrid excuse for an NFL team.
2-8 in the last 10 games is another huge reason. Same old song and dance.
People like Swiss cheese on their burger, not the defensive scheme.

Tampa is a destination. Mini-vacation for northerners. I have no problem with season ticket holders recouping some of the costs of what they charge for tickets these days. I take pride in the fact we live in a nice place, and people want to come here. Who wants to go to Cleveland?

Bowels is the reason they haven’t sold out. Ownership spat on the fans by keeping Bowel not only as HC, but as DC as well. Then they turns around and hands his son an internship. What motivation do fans have to line ownership’s pockets?
Of course none of this makes any difference to Cleveland fans. The other Joe may be right thinking 50% Cleveland attendance.

All Florida teams have this happen to them until they are excellent teams. I don’t think it’ll change until Florida becomes a place that isn’t recieving thousands of new out of state residents a year.

Let’s be honest. Tampa has the worst fan base in the NFL. I still don’t understand how the city has a team.

We do have a physical, well-coached, smart and winning football team. Would you rather have Cleveland’s football team? Arizona’s? Miami’s? Vegas? Tennessee?
We have 2 Super Bowl wins since 2002. Few teams can say that either. People act like we have the Bengals or Browns here. It’s like all our history just…disappeared. Do you know how hard and rare it is to win your division for the rest of the NFL? Maybe we should appreciate it a *little* more than most people clearly do.
Im not saying there isn’t room to improve. There always is. But we are far, far from the basement and this team has a lot of talent and potential. They just have to meet it and reflect it on the field in a consistent manner.

The Bucs don’t really have a fanbase
There’s only a few of us original Bucs fans
These other fans were Ton Brady fans
Now they are Baker Mayfield fans
But they are not true Bucs fans

Now that Cleveland is on the “Gulf of Cleveland”, I suspect many Floridians will want to vacation on their beaches and catch a Browns game! 😁

Well said StPeteMatt except maybe the well coached part.
Other good comments as to the reasons why. They all factor, Bowles I imagine not much. I’d like to think many people don’t buy tickets because of Todd because it seemed like a lot of people said that at the end of last year.
Of course, it’s hard to stay away from football. I said I’d be done a couple times and wouldn’t be posting. I also not some unloyal lemming who would jump ship to another squad.
I never think of it much but it does suck for the Bucs and is a disadvantage compared to what a lot of other teams have.

Attendance has to be linked to the perception of the team under Bowles. There’s absolutely no confidence in the team winning. There is like a latent deep seated affection for the team that causes people to root for them and *hope* they win. But I don’t think people see the sideline leadership as a reason we will win. We win in spite of the coaching. That HAS to play into willingness to pay 1000 for 4 tickets and parking and concession
