Lavonte David Cites “Weird” Play From Baker Mayfield

Somebody needs to mic up Lavonte David during every Bucs game and sell the streaming rights. David could pocket a lot of cash and send a lot of money to charity at the same time.
Joe is not talking about a Manningcast kind of thing, just David watching and commenting candidly. If he has nothing to say for a few plays, so be it.
What is David thinking watching his beloved Bucs embarrass themselves and force fans into state of depression.
David joined Up & Adams yesterday and was asked about Baker Mayfield’s four turnovers in the first two Bucs losses.
“Very weird. Very weird,” David said. “[Baker] is one of those guys who wants to make every play, wants to be the best at everything he does. And sometimes when you try to do so much, it kind of hurts you a little bit. I think that’s what happened last week with the fumbles and this week he did throw an interception. He kind of bounced back from it, [then] missed some throws and things like that.”
David said he’s very optimistic about the Bucs and believes their schedule gets a lot harder, so their road will be difficult.
“Whatever they got to do, they got to find a way ASAP to turn this around,” David said.
The iconic linebacker said he does not believe the loss of Mike Evans is a factor.
Joe would pay a few bucks to hear David’s true thoughts on Alex Anzalone’s tackling woes, but that didn’t come on this broadcast.

We don’t need to hear David’s thoughts on Anzalone. We know exactly what his and every offensive coordinator’s thought are. I saw a stat where he has been targeted 8 times and has giving up catches for 90 yards to the tune of 140.3 passer rating against. It is time for rozeboom. They act like he can’t play. Last I checked he was the starting linebacker and he had 120 tackles for nfc south champs panthers last year. He can’t be worse than anzalone becasue anxalone is ranked almost dead last in every linebacker category. Bench him if you’re serious about winning.

Play calling is a large part of the problem. Have 2nd & 3rd long consistantly is setting Baker for failure. It also causes blocking problems for the O/L. And the defense can not protect a lead. That is not on Baker. Coaching is resulting to poor play & losses

Baker had something like 4.2 seconds on average to throw last game. That’s not the Oline, that’s Baker not being able to process (or see over the Oline)

What he’ll never say is the Bowles defense is awful. That makes his opinion worthless.
Enjoy retirement and leave the inept decisions to Todd. He’s on the case.

Baker Bum had all day and some to get rid of the ball
The guy is not a good QB, and these (Weird) Bucs fans refuse to accept it

He’s obsessed with trying to prove that HE is Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Brock Purdy, Patrick Mahomes, DAK, and all the other great QB’s in the league today… When, HE is NOT. He’s just NOT. And, these complete MORONS “paid him” LIKE HE WAS. It’s INSANITY. Pure STUPIDITY. It’s still mind-boggling, the IGNORANCE. Just such a WASTE. And, you can go on down the line, over the past 2-YEARS… His is going to hurt the WORST, but he wasn’t the ONLY ONE, by far. Definitely, THE ‘dumbest’ though.

Bucman…stop, just stop. The Bucs ran for over 130 yards and averaged over 5 yards a carry. Baker wasn’t “put in bad situations”. He was the bad situation. He didn’t see the field well at all. He wasn’t hitting his back foot and letting it rip. He was Mr. Happy Feet in the pocket.
All the excuses for the highest paid player, the leader, the QB. Only in Bucland do folks gloss over the facts to support their narrative. It has become as exhausting as a Todd Blowes press conference.

The offense is completely discombobulated. The soft zone has the defense playing listlessly.
Arians should come in and finish the season if he is healthy enough. He’d change the tone, day one.

As my name suggests, I’ve been a fan of this team since 1976. In all those years, whenever coaches, players, and management start talking about fixing things, turning things around, it’s the little things, we are so close, etc., it spelled doom.

The real problem is that Baker is setting Baker up for failure. FOUR turnovers by him in 2 games? Sacked SEVEN times in 2 games? Bucs have scored on 9 of their 20 drives … SIX FGs but only 3 TDs. Baker was 1-of-2 deep in Game 1, but then 3-of-12 deep in Game 2 (4-of-14 deep overall).
Too many 3rd-and-longs. Too many sacks. Too many turnovers. Too few completions when they were really needed. ALL of those issues fall back on Mayfield, not on Robinson & not on Bowles.

The baker butt sniffers need to stand by their guy. The rest of us would prefer to see Jalon Daniels. His play is too bad to blame on the OC or the head coach. But i do agree to get rid of Todd.

My humble opinion starting from the from the head down to the assistant’s coaching does not have his team ready I’m so far not impressed with Zack Robinson’s play calling he’s trying to run before he can walk with this team. Both needs to find that one strand of aggression if he still has in him and tighten the ship. Robinson can simply just let this offense do run plays some play action and work the slant cross overs and check Downs this team works really well as a dink and dunk get some confidence momentum rhythm going and then start shooting down field quit trying to go for the home run all the time every now and then a few days hits it’s what gets you home. (Yes I am watching my Atlanta Braves win their division so I’m mixing in some baseball references)

Yes agree we are all seeing Anzalone and he is not what we were told. The more he plays the more he looks like Dennis.
This team has multiple issues at this point, both offense and defense. I can ‘t blame it all on Anzalone, however , he is one issue. You always wonder when a team gives up on a player. Detroit let Anazalone go and brought in Devin White. What does that say about what Detroit thought about Anzalone. I guess both Bowles and Licht missed things on tape. Yes the Bucs need another LB to replace Anzalone, among many other things.
It certainly appears the team need another coach. The defense besides needing players just has to many issues not corrected.
Really poor tackling, soft zones that every team , even the Browns are now exploiting, no pash rush. The defense justs needs to be overhauled new scheme , new players.

At PFF Alex Anzalone is the lowest rated ILB in the NFL
But, he’s the ONLY Bucs defender getting 100% of the snaps
And Vita Vea is still getting more snaps on the DLine
And of course Yaya and Bain is getting the most snaps amongst OLBs

Bad play calling with no outlets for blitzes.
Hard to believe this is their full time job.
Baker sure makes FULL TIME money now.

Nobody can tell me that Alex Anzalone has ever been on par with LVD athletically, and it seem he’s falling from w/e his peak level of play was faster than Lavonte did.

The guys on the Athletic made a good point that Baker’s pocket movement tends to be all or nothing. He doesn’t slide or step up, it’s immediate tuck and scramble. They also thought that having so much success with that style early on last season “broke” him and made him feel like he needs to play that way all the time. He’s basically been chasing the high of that 6-2 start when it wasn’t really a sustainable method.

I thought it was pretty weird that the Bucs gave Baker that new deal considering he’s been a mostly awful QB for nearly a year.
He was so bad that one future HOF’er fled to play on a team “with a good quarterback.” Another future HOF’er retired rather than be on the same team as Baker.
I also thought it was pretty weird when Baker missed a wide open WR to miss the game, and there hasn’t been a single story focused on that failure.
