Joe is very greedy when it comes to the Bucs.
Becoming championship-caliber is always on Joe’s mind.
The huge positive to come out of last week’s game was evidence of cornerbacks depth. Second-year man Benjamin Morrison was pressed into duty and looked like a quality player at 22 years old, the second-round pick the Bucs thought they were drafting in 2025.
It was glorious. Credit the new cornerbacks coach, Morrison and whatever he had for breakfast.
Joe wants to build on that, and the Browns, today’s opponent, sure seem to be a great team for Morrison to build on his confidence. Yes, Cleveland has young receiver talent; they also have a shaky offensive line and a bottom-tier quarterback.
Morrison entered the game because starting cornerback Jacob Parrish sprained/strained his back. Maybe Parrish is ready to play. He was limited in practice this week. But “this Joe” would consider putting Parrish on emergency duty to rest his back and giving Morrison the start.
That could be a strong win-win all the way around and sure seems worth the gamble. If Morrison happens to crumble, at least the team would know in Week 2 that it probably needs to chase cornerback help before the trade deadline.

Uh-oh.
My worst fear and prediction has come to fruition…
Our paper thin CB unit has already suffered the worst injury imaginable.
Now we are counting on Ben-Mo to step in and stay healthy while playing at a mediocre level.

When was the last time we/Licht actually traded for a player mid session to help make a run? I do recall us trading for an old oline guy(from Patriots can’t remember his name) for Winston at the beginning of the season but that’s been a while. We could always hope i guess. He would have to give up a draft pick. Game day! Goooo Bucs!

Marine, that was such an ignorant comment! The worst injury imaginable? …..a strained back? Did you watch the game? Morrison stepped up and kept the best WR duo to 71 yards combined!!!!!!!!!! It was the best result of the day for Tampa Bay.

actually the CB room is not that bad – six on the team and SMB on the practice squad – use Parrish for spot duty or even rest him

What position since your so smart should the gm have not upgraded this offseason to spend more on the cornerback. Should we not have drafted trotter or Bain. Should we have not spend some first and 2nd round picks on the offensive line. Answer that question since your your calling him out. Let’s see what you would have done playing armchair gm. Seriously tell me what player you wouldn’t have signed or drafted and what corner was available at that time or in that draft pick you would have drafted or signed.
Yes what a dumb gem to put his faith in a 2nd and 3rd round pick corner. I mean no other gms do that. Some people in here just think every position should be stacked with 1st round picks and high dollar free agents. And if it’s not it’s on the gm. Not on the salary cap that’s soul purpose is to keep teams from being stacked and having all the best talent at every position.

What players should we have traded for give me some names. Because if a team is trading a player it’s usually because they are wanting a huge contract that the team that knows that player and there upside chose not to do. What trades actually have worked out lately of all the trades. Even the Myles Garrett how is that looking right now. And usually the teams trading players are teams that are not good. So you want to trade draft picks for unhappy players off of losing teams. Who last year would you have traded for and then tell me would you rather have them or our starting mlb trotter or our future number 1-2 wr hurst or are starting nickel Scott because that would have been the draft picks we would have traded for that said player.

GM is a flacid leader, but B-Mo stepped up. I was particularly impressed with how effective he was throwing that frail body of his into run support. Maybe he can give AA some footwear tips this week

Jordyn brooks maybe is the player you can say we should have traded for. But would you want him at 28 years old and a acl surgery three years ago over 20 year old trotter. The Seahawks drafted brooks in the first round they didn’t even pick up his 5th year option. They let him walk out the door in free agency and they won the Super Bowl the next year. You know players excel only in certain schemes. You do know that all pros on a 4-3 defense could struggle on a 3-4 defense. That’s the problem with most arm chair fans they just think every player will be as good or better on there said team. Instead of actually looking and seeing that most players are a product of the system they are in. Ronde barber wouldn’t be in the hall of fame if he was drafted by a man to man scheme defense he probably wouldn’t have made it through his first contract with that team. Very rare players are not system dependent they will be stars not matter what. Because there that good. Those are the guys that do not get traded. Unless your the rams and give up the next 3 drafts for them and say f them picks.

Not going to sell out on expectations, just want to see B-Mo to come out and stack another solid outing on top of last weeks performance. Eyes on the prize in zone, nothing over the top in man and tackle the ball in space. That’s it, anything above that is bonus work

However – history is a great indicator of future performance.
Ben-Mo has been injured since his Soph year at ND.
If he stays healthy for 3 more weeks – I would be absolutely “gob smacked” my man.

Morrison has yet to play two games in a row without pulling her something or other. She’s still got a lot to prove IMO. I will not be surprised if she starts but can’t finish the game, she had a great mentor last year in that respect with Soft Azz Dean to look “up,” to.

I should clarify.
I have been LOUDLY complaining over the past several months about this putrid CB squad.
Perhaps you have not seen those comments and that’s fine.
Our GM is mediocre in many categories – Bruce Arians and Tom Brady saved his bacon pack in 2020 – let’s be honest here bud…
I feel our GM has completely mismanaged this team by the way he has criminally neglected this CB unit this off-season.
It should be investigated.

PLUS – there were several solid (not great) but solid CB on the FA market this off-season and one by one they were picked off by other teams.
Our GM did NOTHING.

What CB in the draft would you have picked and passed up on Bain or Trotter (both areas of need you also would have screamed about had they passed up for a CB) please tell us how much better you are than Licht! Oh and by the way Brady chose and won a Super Bowl in Tampa because of Licht (he said so in interviews). Thanks for your attention to this matter……………BUD!

I’m more worried about our ILBs than CBs now. The performance by Anzalone was just spectacularly bad. Trotter had a couple nice plays but was often out of position. Dennis and Rozeboom are jags at best. We still have the gaping hole in the middle. It’s hard to tell if it’s the players or the coaching, but according to Bowles, this is our strongest unit of players. It looks like they are being coached to defend spots of grass instead of reacting to the play.
If Morrison can stay healthy, the CB room has a chance to be respectable. Not so sure about the LBs.

ok so the inactives are out – sat Garnes and Parrish – did not elevate SMB – the four CBs playing are McCollum Morrison Scott Knowles – does that suggest that the HC is worried about Deshaun Watson ? four safeties active (one gimpy and one elevated) – Bowles appears confident in the secondary – of course the Browns are probably the worst team in the NFL and this will probably be the last game in Watson’s NFL career

Licht and Arians had a very long personal and professional relationship, dating back to their time with the Arizona Cardinals. Licht played an instrumental role in persuading Arians to come out of retirement. Arians said he probably would not have come to Tampa had Licht not been there as GM.
Maybe you’re correct in that Arians saved Licht, but Arians probably never would have come here had Licht not been here.

Marine has no clue how to GM coach or play at the NFL level. How many SB rings you got. What team drafted you. Easy to sit there on your couch and criticize. What’s funny is Ben is playing well against the browns this week after having a good game against cincy. Glad his play is making you eat crow
