Zyon McCollum Returns With A Bang
August 22nd, 2026
Encouraging sight on the field tonight against the Chiefs.
Bucs No. 1 cornerback Zyon McCollum was on the field. After battling a groin injury the past couple of weeks, it was unclear if McCollum would play. Even WFLA-TV announcer and Hall of Fame Bucs cornerback said he was unaware McCollum would start.
On 2nd-and-8 in the first Chiefs drive, a Chiefs handoff went left but was cut back right by stud running back Kenneth Walker. Walker got past Rueben Bain but was met by an open field tackle from McCollum. It was sharp. It was clean, and Walker was held up as Calijah Kancey smarmed over to finish off Walker — a 1 1/2-yard gain.
The Bucs need McCollum healthy and at least as good as he was in 2024.
Tonight was a good start.

Yes I have been a critic but acknowledge that was an outstanding play. I saw from the stands. I hope he maintains that level

Zyon has the talent but does he have the heart? Last season he quit on Bowles as did many 9f his teammates.

Zyon is uber talented but he has to stop being bored of playing football and get serious. Lets hope he matures some.

I have not be3n a real fan, but with his speed and quickness I do believe he can be a #1. Without him stepping up this year to earn the money he got then it will be a long hard season to watch him going up against some top receivers! I also believe that mayfield will sign a contract this week for two extra seasons to light a fire in that locker room! Let’s just see
