Vita Vea Is Back (But Not *That* Back)

August 19th, 2026

Got a raise.

Our long national nightmare is over.

Vita Vea had his back problem cured agreed to terms with the Bucs on a one-year contract extension and raise, as Joe wrote earlier. That’s the word from Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Joe finds it very interesting that on the very same day Bucs co-chairman Joel Glazer arrived to camp, talks between the Bucs and Vea’s camp suddenly ramped up and a little over 24 hours later, Vea gets a new contract.

Joe doesn’t believe in coincidences in football.

Just before training camp, Vea demanded a trade, seeking more money. Vea has sat out all of training camp with a mysterious back ailment. Joe is guessing he’s on the practice fields of One Buc Palace tomorrow morning.

    My name is Toddrodamus.

I predict Vita Vea will realize an AMAZING healing miracle of his back issues within 24-hours.

The pain likely vanished this afternoon.

  3. Football 1 Says:

Super it was I was saying along, give him a raise and pay him money he deserves and extend him a year.Guaranteed the other players are watching the Organization. I don’t see what was so hard about this, but hey they got it done.

  4. 813bucboi Says:

    Now let’s dominate on defense

    GO BUCS

  5. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

What looks on the outside (where we are) to happen suddenly after nothing happening for a while is often the work of continual progress over time on the inside. Either way, we got Vea!

  6. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Is it true that 2027 is not guaranteed?

  7. johnnythemoon Says:

    Looking forward to 4 sacks.

  8. BridleOaks Buc Says:

So $30mill 2027. Baker is going to be paid to play 2027. Yaya will be due a new contract. March will be due a new contract. Kancey will be due the following year, and if he stays healthy, he’s going to demand at least $40 by that time if all goes well…You literally can’t pay everyone. Who’s the odd man out? Which of those guys do you let walk?

  9. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

    Guaranteed?

  10. Brian in FL Says:

    LFG

  11. BucsFan252 Says:

If David Walker and Bain hit you don’t pay YaYa 25 million a year for his 7 sacks a year. You let him walk. Simple

  12. DanBucsFan Says:

Let’s not count team Glaziers money, let JL do that. I say we should be happy he is back and our front 7 seems to be ready to rumble. Go Bucs!

  13. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Gee, what a shocker. The big DL who doesn’t need a whole month of training camp did a hold in and signed his contract with a few weeks to go before the season starts. Thereby avoiding miserable weeks of camp and getting his deal done with plenty of time to get ready for game one.

Who could have seen??? Well, me for one on these here blog comments weeks ago.

But no, we will throw hissy fits and post ridiculous “trade the ungrateful bum” comments.

I swear to God, some of you either just started watching football or have really bad memories. It happens every stinking year, it was just our turn.

  14. Shrek Says:

Can Vita call plays on defense too?

  15. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks the back injury was a wink wink deal to keep good faith amongst both camps. To keep Vita where we can see him and to “help” him avoid fines while they negotiated. Still think his agent floated the trade talk demand and I still wanna sock him for it, but it obviously made it to the top of the chain of command.

  16. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Also, for as much as we as fans criticize the front office and ownership, they’re not putting a deal like this together if they cannot absorb it.

  17. Stpetematt Says:

Next year is guaranteed too so at least we get a couple year reprieve from worrying about his contract status now. And that leaves Baker as the immediate concern. We should seek to sign him right away. He already has 40M of the salary cap accounted for so we only need to give him maybe a 13.5M raise and do it for like 4 years. We can get that simply by renegotiating Wirfs contract to turn it all into a bonus. It’s not like we won’t keep Wirfs, lol! Everything else we can handle next year when the cap goes up like another 35M.

  18. Simple T Says:

    Great news!
Holy fu$k our front 7 REALLY looks like a dangerous krewe now.
I was still hopeful we’d be okay without him but we could be dominant with him back. If we can just keep em all healthy 🤞🏼

  19. Letsbuccingo Says:

Probably get hurt play half the season it’s a bucs life

  20. Jecir Says:

Joe, is the money guaranteed? Or is it just a raise of 6 million this year and 2027 is not guaranteed?

  21. Simeon4HOF Says:

So if Kancey stays healthy we could have a Top 5 Dline

  22. Simeon4HOF Says:

Is a boss move after Baker’s comments to show up and give Vita 30
