Todd Bowles Does Not Rule Out Benjamin Morrison For Saturday

A guy who has been in the witness protection program was spotted yesterday on the practice fields of One Buc Palace.
Yes, it was oft-injured Benjamin Morrison playing cornerback in practice on Monday morning. It was his first action of the summer and he didn’t appear awful.
Why does Joe type that? Because Joe didn’t see Morrison get roasted. Morrison did give up a touchdown to Ted Hurst, but Joe uses the term “give up” loosely.
Morrison had really good coverage but the rookie wide receiver demonstrated, again, how he consistently day after day makes contested catches look routine. That’s what happened when Hurst caught a pass from Baker Mayfield in the end zone near the right sideline.
Morrison has been fighting a hamstring injury. Bucs fans have been frustrated with Morrison as he has battled injuries, specifically hamstrings, since he was drafted in the second round last season.
Speaking after practice, Bucs coach Todd Bowles did not rule out Morrison for Saturday’s second worthless preseason game against the Chiefs.
“He’s progressing,” Bowles said. “He did some things today, so we’ll look to see how he develops during the week.”
“We’ll see how he progresses,” Bowles said. “We’ll kind of make that determination on Friday.”
Joe really hopes Morrison can stay healthy and stay on the field. The Bucs are woefully thin at corner and not having Morrison available sure doesn’t help that issue.
If Morrison can play near the level he did at Notre Dame — when he was healthy — that would be like manna from heaven.

Are they really? How else you going to gauge who to keep and who to cut. Practicing against your own players does not give you the full picture.

The Bucs desperately need this kid to stay healthy. They’re betting on it for this year for sure. It looks like he may have the talent if he can stay on the field. Praying for some good fortune. Go Bucs!!!

Hopefully he can play vs the Chiefs. That would be a huge confidence boost and relief for him. I’m sure just like every NFL player that gets injured the player is more pissed off about it than the fans are. It’s be nice to have a fully healthy roster going into game one for a change

He’s on a rookie contract… expecting him to play for free? If the parameters for theft is getting paid while injured, how much money does Dean, Davis, Kancey, Godwin, Evans, Winfield and most of last seasons O line need to pay back?
I didn’t have the heart to put McMillan on that list… Since he got royally screwed in a preseason game and it look like he got paralyzed when it happened. 😬

If… Ben can elevate his college game to the NFL level he’ll be a strong addition to our defense.

OK, he got torched by a rookie from a small school. We “desperately need” him? We talk a lot about players who need to prove themselves at this level, and yet assume that as soon as Morrison throws away the Ben-Gay, he’s going to be Deion Sanders. I’m watching and waiting and hoping, but not despairing if he doesn’t produce, for whatever reason.
