Please Get Healthy
August 9th, 2026Joe doesn’t think there is any question about it. The best player on the Bucs is a guy who may touch the ball once every seven years or so.
That would be left tackle Tristan Wirfs. He has touched the ball in a game just twice. He caught a touchdown pass last year, his first and maybe his only touchdown. And Joe remembers when Wirfs recovered a fumble once and took off like a running back.
But Wirfs is a beast. He’s the only player in NFL history to be named All-Pro at both left and right tackle. Noted offensive line analyst Brandon Short drools over Wirfs, as do many Bucs fans. When healthy, he’s that damn good.
Folicly-challenged Billy Barnwell of BSPN is looking at what current NFL players could be enshrined in Canton someday, the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Billy thinks if Wirfs can stay healthy, that’s where he’ll land.
Keep it up: OT Tristan Wirfs
Wirfs missed time with a knee injury last season and had more hiccups than usual in the weeks after returning, but he would still be the first pick if you were drafting any left tackle to dominate the league over the next decade. Let’s hope that the hamstring injury he reportedly suffered at the start of training camp doesn’t linger into the season.
Wirfs, by the insane standards he has set, was not his normal dominant self last season. Oh, he had some excellent games, the one at Seattle is one Joe will remember for a long time. He just snowplowed people in the run game, clearing paths for Rachaad White to score a pair of touchdowns.
Joe thinks Wirfs was off from his first game against the Eagles. Remember, he missed the first three games after June knee surgery.
This hamstring Wirfs suffered in a conditioning run right before training camp heals soon. It’s coming up on two weeks. KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles hasn’t ruled out Wirfs practicing this week in New Jersey against the Jets.
The last thing the Bucs need is for Wirfs to play at 70 or 80 percent with a nagging hamstring injury the entire season.

“He’s the only player in NFL history to be named All-Pro at both left and right tackle.” That feat alone is a nice springboard into the Hall.

I don’t like it – but at this point T. Wirfs is one of the few players on this roster I am OK with giving a little leniency too regarding his preseason participation…
Keep him healthy, fresh and safe.
He will be fine on Sundays ( or Mondays and Thursdays).

Where have all the Kyle Trask fans gone? Maybe they have just become Panters fan as the “one in waiting” will be signing with the Panthers and reuniting with spurned Bucs coach Dave Canales. Should be fun!
August 9th, 2026 at 8:33 am
A-Rob and Vea are the other Buc players I don’t mind resting a bit this preseason.
August 9th, 2026 at 8:41 am
Oldtimer walks into a Wirfs article and starts peeing himself about some player not on the Buvs roster who never played any meaningful snaps for this franchise.
Wow what a total nut job. I hope the nurses find him soon and get him back inside his room.

Fanofdabucs… LOL thinking the same thing
Article = Tristan Wirfs is amazing, will be in Canton and the hope is he gets to be 100% by the beginning of the season.
Oldtimer= I think I’ll rag on Trask fans, the “Panters” and Dave Canales out of nowhere.

@Marine,
Dang, took the list of guys right out of my head. I have no plans to worry about TW or VV missing time until after the 2nd preseason game.
And as for Trask, pleeeeeaaassee get him in the game this week and have him light up some 5th string DBs. It’s the fuel this comment section needs.

Wirfs not practing is not helping in the development of Bain or Walker. You have to think that NFL players for years past are nodding their heads (or rolling in their graves) in these type of “soft” tissue injuries.
August 9th, 2026 at 9:32 am
Call me a Conspiracy Theorist if it fits BUT I don’t think Wirfs is anymore hurt than Vita’s back injury! I believe this time of year it’s a way they can be certain he won’t get injured & a way that the backup Tackles can get more reps so they know who truly is ascending VS who my be on the chopping block!! I EVEN QUESTION MAHOMES KNEE INJURY AT THE END OF LAST SEASON!!!! Just go back and look how it happened, oh well fans will buy whatever pro sports leagues tell them
August 9th, 2026 at 9:41 am
Tristin may not ever again be same dominant tackle he was before last offseason ever again.
August 9th, 2026 at 9:45 am
I was just feeling sorry for Commanders fans, losing Tunstill- and even more sorry for Rashad White, was hoping he’d have a good season- even though he hates the Bucs- LT is a big position.
August 9th, 2026 at 9:53 am
Watching pro football players warm up and stretch reminds me of high school gym class. Kids just going through the motions with no control or form, arms and legs flailing away. They need a strength and conditioning coach for each position group.
August 9th, 2026 at 9:55 am
Current training camps are nothing like they used to be so why have Wirfs even been involved. Unlike Vea’s sit in, Wirfs is just avoiding injury because he needs no further practice. Stay healthy, Tristan.

OMG – you’re 100%.
If Trask does anything decent the Gator Boyz vs the Gator Hater BS will be untenable…
I wanted the Trask experiment to work out in our favor but the kid just doesn’t have the juice.
SAD.
August 9th, 2026 at 9:59 am
I suspect they are just saving him for real games.
Off topic…I cannot believe how quickly this off season has flown by.
August 9th, 2026 at 10:00 am
The OL is the key to the season and Wirfs is the key to the OL.
Penei Sewell is probably most observers pick as top LT over the next decade, after last year.
August 9th, 2026 at 10:26 am
Buffet wrecking HC\DC Todd Bowles is orchestrating another dismal season to add to his quiver.
4-13
August 9th, 2026 at 10:42 am
Cosmo you got that backwards. You must be thinking of the record for those stinky panties
August 9th, 2026 at 10:45 am
And when he gets older, he’s going to become an All Pro at LG too!
3 more years at LT. Then slide him inside.
With those legs and butt? At 350?
Wirfs will be the next Larry Allen!
Dominating defensive tackles!
Trust Teacherman.
He called for Kuechly. He wanted Barron to convert to LB next to LVD.
He called for The Honey Badger.
He’s a visionary.
August 9th, 2026 at 1:03 pm
Cosmo I mean 3.28. I mean lynch mob or what ever name you go by 💩🤡 takes shows that your one of those prob all of them troll. We know you’re a aints fan. Trash of the league.
August 9th, 2026 at 1:06 pm
There are definitely trolls from the Saints, Falcons Ànd Panthers on here.
Stay United Bucs fans!! Ignore the haters and clowns.
Go Bucs!
August 9th, 2026 at 1:13 pm
Let that hamstring heal.
100% or nothing.
Tristan is too valuable to be at 70 or 80% with a nagging injury all season long.
August 9th, 2026 at 1:16 pm
#1 buc…No doubt!
August 9th, 2026 at 1:59 pm
I wouldn’t play him in any preseason game. Not one
August 9th, 2026 at 7:55 pm
Trade him, he is obese, out of shape, injury prone, demanding, and 31 years old. Just do it. package him up with Chris Braswell and send them to whoever has a second round pick. Do it and don’t look back.
August 9th, 2026 at 7:56 pm
woops thought this was Vita Vea lol keep Tristan ! turn the plane around!
August 9th, 2026 at 11:06 pm
He’s going to be fine, the league’s best medical and training groups are on the case.
