Keionte Scott Sprained His Ankle

The lone Buccaneers “starter” in last night’s worthless preseason game got hurt.
Rookie fourth-round pick cornerback Keionte Scott is slated to be the Bucs’ No. 1 nickel corner, but he did play last night against the Jaguars.
Joe gets it to a degree. Scott needs experience. Still, that comes with a risk and, per Todd Bowles this morning, Scott sprained his ankle in the game. Bowles didn’t get specific as to how serious it might be.
Joe’s not quite sure how the Bucs would proceed on opening day (in 15 short days) if Scott is unavailable. The Bucs plan to start Zyon McCollum and Jacob Parrish, last year’s rookie nickel, at outside cornerback.
Would the Bucs dare to move Parrish back to nickel and start undrafted rookie Ayden Garnes or Benjamin Morrison outside against the Bengals’ mighty receiving corps? Joe did not like some of the questionable effort by Morrision early in last night’s game.

Jason needs to trade one of his precious day 3 draft picks and acquire some depth at secondary. OL depth is shaky too.

Burrow has a horrible record in openers. Look it up. Their coach is worse that Bowles. Their defense ranked worse than ours. Game 1 is always hard to figure.

100% put Parrish at NCB and throw Garnes in the fire. If tackling is still Garnes issue, at least there’s no Derrick Henry out there.
Higgins prolly only has 10 lbs on him and Chase Brown isn’t big.

Well if Scott is injured I am sure that is exactly what he will do. Either way only a matter of time until Morrison is exposed. I think maybe eventually he could be excellent. However last night what he displayed was good on a couple plays, the touchdown break up , although the ball was poor was poorly thrown. Then on a play earlier he was totally turned around against a second team receiver. He just has limited experience. You can rest assured him and McColumn will be totally exposed against Cinn. The Bucs need a legitimate CB. Definitely plain to see except for Bowles and Licht.

I agree that giving Garnes the early shot at CB is worth a shot. He looked great tackling last night. I just thought it was very odd that he played the entire game – especially considering the injury to Scott.

Licht ignored DB and OL depth all of this off season. Licht need to be held accountable if it hurts the Bucs upcoming season.

We let Dean walk probably because he was a cancer in the locker room like Reddick. Also he was always hurt when we needed him most- like playoff games. Garnes will stick to a Bengals receiver like glue. He’s a much better matchup for Higgins than Chase.

Once again, we have too many at one position: OLB and zero depth at CB.

He played better than Winfield thé year Winfield was hurt and missed half the year. He was solid à rookie starting nickle.
Izien caused fumbles and made interceptions. He was a hard hitter and great on special teams.
Why the heck did we let Izien go???
He was one of my favorite players!
He also was a great tackler. He would tackle low Ànd crush wide receivers.
I can remember him causing many WR’s to come out of the game bc he would crush their thighs and ribs!

Theres no depth at CB, OL, OLB, MLB, QB, TE, or DT.
None. This team is 2 key player injuries away from being
A 5 or 6 win team this year. Thats on the GM. No real trade
Attempts or FA pick ups to address these issues on top
Of these high draft pick blunders. JTS, logan hall, Kyle trask,
Cancey is a great talent but is never on the field. Chris braswell
And Benjamin Morrison. So the stink starts at the top with
Ownership and management.

If the Bucs don’t get heavy consistent pressure on Burrows it will be a track meet. The Bucs offense will have to score at least 30 to have a chance at winning the game. I don’t have a lot of confidence in our secondary at the moment.

Trainer off the record: Egbuka, Mcmillan, and Bain to miss Game 1. And one more unnamed starter is trending doubtful. They don’t have to release an official injury report until next week and supposedly it will be a shocker.

I’d forgotten all about JJ. Haven’t heard his name all Training Camp. Five days ago, Greg Auman came out with an update on him on X …
‘Bucs safety J.J. Roberts, sidelined all of camp so far as he returns from a knee injury last year, is expected to practice with the team this week. Safety depth is uncertain for Bucs, but he should be a practice squad player in the least.’
Auman makes a good point about Safety depth. Looks like we’ll have Winfield & Tykee Smith starting, plus Killebrew as a backup (I thought he made some nice tackles last night) because of his S/Ts expertise.
I’m sure we’ll keep at least 4 Safeties (maybe 5 if 1 or more can play Nickel or CB also), so that’d leave Wisdom, Roberts, Melifonwu, Williams & McDaniel fighting for 1-2 spots. Cutdowns tomorrow will sure be interesting.

He drafted another DB and found what looks to be a good FA DB in Garnes.
What are you all talking about! Look around the league. Think Houston fans are pumped about their OL depth in front of Stroud? That’s been a mess. Chargers are in trouble again if their guys can’t stay healthy and it’s been a struggle. Eagles fans hollering about their OL better stay healthy cause their run game went to like 24th last year with Barkley and Hurts!

Unlikely but true. This team has a chance to win the NFC South Scrub Division even with a losing record. I bet it comes down to the Stainks games like it did last year to th PANTERS. I cant wait for the Bengals to see hoe Genes replacement does…he seems rather over dramatic so far. Panters are stuck with the Carolina Shrimp.

CBs will probably be fine if Bowles doesn’t get cute and lets 4 or 5 guys on the front pin their ears back 85% of the time.

I bet no one wants to do that but there’s your best trade chip and they can address CB or OL through the trade. There’s no easy answers other than hit on every single pick and FA signing which no one does.

After watching Morrison and his buddies in preseason, I am convinced the Bucs are going to struggle with this secondary. It’s not too late to get some free agent help: Diggs, Lattimore, Moore or Jackson? I don’t know what the answer is, but it’s not this group of NFL Wanna Be’s. Bowles is going to get a rude awakening against Burrow, Higgins and Chase. It’s going to be brutal.

Yeah as long as this team is relatively healthy they will win football games. If Wirfs starts, look for the Bucs to run all over Cincy. And a very successful run game will open up the pass dramatically as teams stuff the box trying to stop the run.

I don’t know how many years in a row they have to keep doing this in their secondary. Every year they’re short on guys because of injury. End up getting my neighbor who’s a farmer to fill in and then they wonder why they give up 500+yards a game to Captain Kirk or every rookie QB. Always hurt and always short handed….. they have to keep 15 receivers but barely enough to cover the starting lineup.

Word on the street (lol) is ravens are going to have to cut some pretty good CB cuz they are really deep in that room. I’m sure there going to sign another cb hopefully a vet
