Detroit Lions Sign Devin White
August 2nd, 2026Considering linebacker Devin White had a whopping 174 combined tackles for the Raiders last season and wasn’t invited back, it’s not a sure bet he’ll be facing the Bucs on Sunday, Nov. 22.
That’s when White will be scheduled to face Tampa Bay for the first time in his career after spending five seasons with the Bucs (2019-2013). Yesterday, White signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions.
The Bucs’ 2019 first-round pick is just 28 years old. He played all 17 games last season for Las Vegas and certainly is in his prime, if healthy. So why couldn’t/didn’t White get signed until now? Joe can only guess it’s because White’s attitude issues in Tampa haven’t changed much.
Regardless, if White can stick with Detroit, he’ll be one highly motivated cat when he’s squaring off against the Bucs.
Joe remembers — and White surely does — the dart Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht threw at him after he left Tampa.

Wow. It’s really insane. On soooo many levels. Not even counting the Bucs stuff. 174-TACKLES. Unsigned up until this point, for that long. 28-YEARS OLD. Just what a shame. It’s definitely a Bucs Life.

Unfortunate what happened. Uber talented but began think he was above everything, as a result his play suffered on the field.

Hooray. Maybe they add Shaq Barrett too smh

Seems kinda funny that the Raiders didn’t want him back to me too. Personally…I don’t care.

Some of these players get too caught up in what their agents say. Hopefully both Mayfield & Vea aren’t going down the same path. Every player has a market value, and it is decided by NFL teams. I’m a big Mayfield fan, but he was one team away from being blackballed out of the league. Might want to take that into consideration! The Bucs took the chance most other teams completely gave up on him.

Still athletic and fast and strong. But with that physical ability he can’t cover any one??
It’s all between the ears…. Attitude, entitlement, low football IQ.
Imagine LVDs toughness, grit, knowledge and preparation with Whites physical attributes?
Someone needs to Freaky Friday them… anyone know a gypsy or Chinese soothsayer?

Good for Devin, I’m pretty sure since leaving Tampa he’s realized he’ll never be bigger than the program. Leave the horses, take a shovel.

Just like Carson Wentz–he can’t take coaching

Anzalone > White all day. Detroit will cut him before the season ends.

Wow, amazing psychoanalysis by this fine group of professionals who don’t know the whole story and having never exchanged a word with their patient (subject). Yet our savior, Baker, can publically throw the entire organization under the bus and your prognosis is “sign the man to a long term $50+/yr contract.”
Personally, I think Dan Campbell is just what DW needs, a strong daddy figure.

The numbers 174 tackles looked great. But read an article where they were empty stats. He was 82nd out of 88 linebackers in overall grade. And passing coverage he was 79th out of 88. And allowed a 92.6 qb rating in coverage.

LOL you funny. Make fun of the amateur psychologists in the chat, and then declare that DW needs a strong daddy figure.
The exact same psychoanalysis you just laughed at everyone else for doing. 😁

How exactly is Baker throwing the organization under the bus? He played for 4 million and chump change incentives his first year with the Bucs. The current contract is 100 million for three years. That makes his average salary 25 million per year. The Glazers got a great deal with Baker. Unfortunately the tidal wave of offense injuries and a putrid defense derailed the season last year – and a really bad DC/head coach responsible for 3rd and 28. Somehow it’s all Bakers fault.

Devin White. . . . the man. . . . the myth. . . . the legend,
IN HIS OWN MIND!!!
He thinks with his mouth and is bigger than the team.
What team likes that?

Coach Campbell will use him in ways that he doesn’t need to cover.
Coach Campbell will let him blitz and tackle.
Coach Campbell rotates middle linebackers regularly.
I’m happy for Devin.

I just remember the Eagles game where Jason Kelce made him his bitch by pushing him all around the field. It was embarrassing to watch.

He’ll be a combination of training camp body and situational player in Detroit at best. He should have taken whatever the Bucs offered him before he left Tampa.
