Vita Vea Trade Watch
July 31st, 2026As Buccaneers fans sadly know, one of the NFL’s most impactful and popular defensive tackles, Bucs manbeast Vita Vea, asked to be traded before training started this week.
So will the Bucs do it? That’s unclear but there’s obviously a market for Vea.
Joe monitors nearly everything NFL, and fanbases around the league are clamoring for Vea — from playoff contenders to wacky Giants supporters who actually think their team can shock the world and make a playoff run with Vea. (New York hasn’t won a postseason game since the Super Bowl 14 years ago.)
Legit NFL analysts also are calling for multiple teams to inquire about Vea. So there’s little doubt that Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht has at least a couple of persistent suitors for his 2018 first-round draft pick.
Today, Todd Bowles said he has no update on Vea’s alleged back injury. Joe watched Vea at training camp mingle with teammates this morning and stick with his defensive linemates through the day. He’s obviously got a strong relationship with Calijah Kancey, the guy who might have been drafted to be Vea’s replacement, tough that’s just about an impossible task because of Vea’s unique skills.
Joe’s been hearing rumblings that the Bucs have zero plans to trade Vea, but that certainly could change as Week 1 approaches and the Bucs assess the health and readiness of the other 10 defensive tackles on their roster.
Licht would look like a clown if he traded Vea and then Kancey and, say, A’Shawn Robinson, had August injuries.

Trade him to a really, really crappy team……but truth be known, they’re not gonna trade him

I keep reading Jerry Jone wants a Super Bowl this year & is seriously pursuing Vea.

That would be the ideal situation. Crappy team = better pick.

Could always hang on to him until the trade deadline and hope a playoff bound team gets really desperate after an injury and is willing to part with a couple of high draft picks.

Light better call Tomlin to see if he approves.
One more year and everything changes.
LFG!!

Licht not signing Baker or Vita, arguably the two most irreplaceable players on the team, tells me we will be talking about the draft and not the playoffs before Thanksgiving.

I cannot believe the comment regarding Vea. I get that being a “fan” requires a small suspension of reality but this borders on blindness.
– wrong side of 30
– often injured
– situational player
– on a mid-road team
Bucs will have the same record with or without him. He will not be the difference between 7 wins and 11 wins.
Would be valuable as a final piece to a serious SB contender so a trade should happen.

You really do not know. Look, Vita has requested a trade. And their are quite a few teams dialing up that phone. Bucs could get an offer they cannot refuse. You just never know.
July 31st, 2026 at 1:22 pm
davenport – throw in Godwin and Baker and fleece Raiders
July 31st, 2026 at 1:23 pm
Unless they get an offer they simply cant refuse… season is lost without Vita Vea
July 31st, 2026 at 1:48 pm
Vita Vea is not as irreplaceable as it seems, he really doesn’t do much to help out the pass defense, which is what the Bucs desperately need. I’m fully on board for trading Vita if it’s a good offer
July 31st, 2026 at 1:53 pm
This I know the defend will be way worse without vea clogging up the middle getting a few sacks , doing some run stiffing and taking on double teams. The double teams is huge cause then yaya Bain and co would get some 1v1 match ups but vea is not the same player he was and is only getting older. I’m a huge fan of his but trade him get some value and get younger at the position.
July 31st, 2026 at 1:57 pm
Vita aint going nowhere
he’ll have a deal done late next week
GO BUCS!!!
July 31st, 2026 at 2:31 pm
I must have missed WHICH player on our team can eat up double-teams 73% of the game?
July 31st, 2026 at 2:49 pm
Trade VV to the Rams. With Garrett, Arron Donald talking about a return and VV clogging up the middle, that would be fun to watch! Now the Rams only have 4 picks next year, 2 -4 – 5 -6. That would be a Les Snead thing to do. Trade away their entire draft for a SB.
July 31st, 2026 at 3:16 pm
Yeah he’s not impactful, he was the 9th most double teamed defensive player in the league.
July 31st, 2026 at 3:37 pm
Morons galore here I see
July 31st, 2026 at 3:41 pm
He’s not going to get traded.
July 31st, 2026 at 3:52 pm
If the Bucs are going to give him a new deal, get it done.
If the Bucs aren’t going to give him a new deal, then trade him now while his value is at it’s maximum.
The absolute worst possible thing the Bucs can do is to do nothing. To let Vita walk next year, and getting nothing in return, would be incredibly dumb when you should be able to get a very valuable pick for him right now – or even perhaps flip him for a very good player at another position. BTW, think about this, if the Bucs were to trade Vita for a player, what kind of player would you probably get? Probably a corner, a veteran, a guy who is consider really good – a guy like Jamal Dean. Ouch.

Vita Vea is the only good defensive lineman on this team.
In a Year or two, Bain will be a good linemen. Simmons will be Good. Nelson is a good journeymen.
The rest shouldn’t be on an NFL roster.
Or Meybe you weren’t watching last season
Vea is the only great defensive lineman on the roster.
No one is now, or will be in the future, as good as he is.
Evans, Mayfield, Wirfs, and Vita Vea are the only great players on the Bucs.
Chris Godwin used to be great. Hasn’t been for 2 years.
Meybe he can get it back. I don’t think so.
July 31st, 2026 at 4:45 pm
In what decade would Kancey have been a nose tackle?
July 31st, 2026 at 7:49 pm
They are not trading vea they have no one on the roster that can play his position at his level keep wishing.
July 31st, 2026 at 8:13 pm
✌️ he don’t play half the snaps anymore anyways. Bye
July 31st, 2026 at 8:24 pm
Vita takes plays off.

We all watched, how GMC and Suh, both get let go. I see this as a hedge bet, by Vea’s former teammate and current training and money management trainer..Suh. I do not see what everyone is so afraid of loosing Vea… We have plenty of tall fast large DT’s now… If it isnas Suh and Vea, say it is.. Then cut bait… go prove yourself to another team.. whats is Veas best sack season 6? We all have loved having Vea on our team. When was the last game Vea went out a dominated for 60 minutes? A three sack game, ever? I will be sad, but this is the NFL… Not For Long…. and at 31… not for long, is what it is… Vea has a $17,000,000.00 contract to play for the Buccaneers, he has made what? $75,000,000.00 playing football… Yeah and now demands a trade… had he been a close to double digit sacks every year since being drafted, Then we may have a reason to talk… But since that hasn’t ever been the case… Why would we over pay for under production?
August 1st, 2026 at 11:05 am
The giants have a legit HC, a qb that has talent, a really good front 7 that would be much better with vea.
Theres nothing wacky about them potentially winning 9-10 games.
August 1st, 2026 at 11:49 am
Damn I get tired of reading about man-child requests to be traded to another team rather than playing out the contract they signed. Funny how phantom injuries seem to occur when the team fails to honor their request. Eff the malcontent that don’t want to be here. Take the best possible deal and let him ride off unto the sunset. Adios.
August 1st, 2026 at 2:50 pm
New coach New players Go Bucs! 2027 is going to be great and all the the 2026 bored garbage players and coach will be gone finally we will have a fun Great team again cheers to the future Bucs whoop whoop
August 1st, 2026 at 5:38 pm
Yeah I’d definitely pass on trading him & I think it would be stupid but if they do trade him they better get something good in return.
August 2nd, 2026 at 1:42 am
Not to be nit-picky, but the Giants beat the sad Vikings in the postseason, January 2023 before getting creamed by the Eagles the following week. That result led to an extension of Daniel Jones, and therefore an extension to the misery of the Big Blue fan base.
