Sean Tucker Discusses His Return
July 13th, 2026Lost in the excitement of the Bucs signing running back Kenneth Gainwell and the hope Bucky Irving returns to his rookie form, is Sean Tucker’s return.
While Tucker had the most rushing yards of his three-year career, his yards-per-carry total was roughly half of 2024, when Liam Coen had the offense humming.
Joe chalks that up to all the offensive line injuries. Joe spoke with Tucker after a minicamp practice and he seemed to suggest running behind a makeshift line each week was a chore.
Joe mentioned when the Bucs offensive line is healthy it is one of the best in the league. Tucker didn’t argue.
“Yeah, I’d say so,” Tucker said. “… Trusting the guys up front to get those blocks for us. That will showcase our abilities.”
For Tucker, the Bucs having a solid year running the ball is simple: keep the big uglies on two feet and let them do the dirty work.
And it helps that a guy who demonstrated he can build a running attack is on board, new Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson.
It seemed Tucker wanted to return to Tampa Bay no matter who the coordinator was. When Joe asked Tucker if Robinson’s reputation for having a solid run game was a factor, he said, not really.
“I wouldn’t say so,” Tucker said. “It was more the contract situation. I had to let it play out.
“But I’m glad to be back and ready. Looking forward to the season.”
But Tucker knew all about how running backs thrived with Robinson, not just Bijan Robinson.
“I like what I see,” Tucker said. “He came from Atlanta with Bijan and those guys. Playing against them and watching them on tape, how they ran the ball, I’m looking forward to playing in this offense. I’m fired up.”
Last year the Dixie Chicks ranked eighth in the league in yards per game (125.8). In 2024, Atlanta was 10th (130.5). It wasn’t just Bijan Robinson; it was Tyler Allgeier, too.
Bucs training camp kicks off in 16 days.

I love Sean Tucker’s game. This year I envision him as the change of pace back and the guy that closes out games late in the 4th quarter. He has a different skill set than Bucky and Gainwell. I’ve always wanted Tucker to get more carries.

I like ST I’m glad he’s back. I don’t want to see him on another NFC South team!

If this guy ever gets out of Tampa look out.
His long speed is just different.
We need to create space for him he can catch screens also.
Bucs let their best YPC guy go.
Hard to believe but White led the team
Gonna miss him I’m afraid.
Grizzard won’t because he never ran RB screens

Lt. Dan. Me too.

I think he has potential we have not seen yet. I hope he breaks out this year.

Some of you guys I swear. It’s like you find a guy to hitch your wagon to and you swear on your dead great grandmother that you see something that the coaches and scouts do not see. I can promise that is not the case. If guys like Sean Tucker were even half as good as some of you suggest then he would be playing and getting 20 carries per game. If we are lucky, he only sees the field during garbage time or spot duty, and I’m not entirely sure it wont be Gainwell getting the ball late 4th quarter to salt the game away anyhow

@gofortheface30: Respectfully: When (very very seldom) Sean Tucker has been given a chance he has played above the rim. vs 2024 Saints, 192 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns (one rushing, one receiving). 2025 vs everyone on the schedule: 8 touchdowns led the team. Me and guys like me recognize that there is but one football and many mouths to feed. I’m confident that if either Bucky or Gainwell goes down, the Bucs will be fine with Tucker getting increased touches.

Robinson has got to get some blocking schemes in place with the intent on getting Tucker to the 2nd level so we can see how legit his speed is in the open field.
Tucker is decent between the tackles, but I think what Robinson should try to get out of him is on stretches and counters that give him a corner to cut and get north.

I’m hearing that Robinson will be using a Zone blocking scheme. Not a fan. We have an O line who can man block well. We tried this a couple of years ago and ditched it. The run game picked up. I find this hard to believe. Maybe that failure was on White?
Looking forward to the Buck and Tuck again. Also looking forward to our dudes proving they are the best O line in football this year.
Go Bucs!

Tucker > Bucky

Only 16 more days until The Last Days of Todd commence. Since the coaches did everything they could do last season, I guess this training camp will be a full on player directed camp. Probably will get better results than having the Great Regressor out there confusing everyone.

I wonder if Todd is doing a farewell tour when he passes through other cities to say one last goodbye.
He’s going to give every team a great chance for one last victory over the Swiss cheese scheme.
Maybe in honor of his accomplishments as HC they could light a bag of freshly acquired canine excrement on fire at mid field.
Going out in a blaze of failure! 🤣🤡🔥💩

Sean Tucker is good enough to be a solid starting RB in the league. He just needs more than 10 touches per game and you would see the results reflect that he should be a starter in the NFL.

He should be the starter
July 13th, 2026 at 3:36 pm
This is why coaches like Bowles don’t win championships because he shows favoritism

Sean Tucker is a better running back than Bucky. Bucky had one good year, then something got into his head. His not built to carry the rock 20 times plus a game.

The wide zone runs will be interesting to see since Coen moved away from them a little. Maybe GainMore and TuckNRun will thrive in the future wide zones.

I for one am thrilled to have Tucker back & healthy. He is a solid back, a tough inside threat , good speed sees the field. Our RB room is a good one.. I like Bucky too but given his size & running style makes me even happier to have Tucker on board plus he’s a good ST Asset also. As long as we can avoid the injuries like last season we should be good to go.
