Rondé Barber Predicts 10 Sacks For Rueben Bain — In First 13 Weeks

July 22nd, 2026

Rueben Bain

Cue the overhype, and the pressure on Todd Bowles.

It’s fun!

Buccaneers legend and team insider Rondé Barber went there on The Rondé Barber Show today when asked about Rueben Bain’s projected production. The Miami Mauler edge rusher was the Buccaneers’ first-round draft pick in April.

Not only does Barber say Bain will do what no drafted Buccaneer has done since 2000 — have a 10-sack season — Barber says Bain will hit the mark with four games remaining in the regular season.

“[Bain] will probably get 10 sacks in, I’m going to give him 13 weeks,” Barber said. “This dude is a violent-like man killer, and a hat-snatcher. I see a 10-sack season.”

The hype train for Bain is nearing off-the-charts status. As Sage of Tampa Bay Sports Ira Kaufman wrote this week, Bain must overcome extreme pressure before he ever gets to pressure an NFL quarterback in a real game.

Joe hopes Bain can keep his elite wiring from getting short-circuited by all the hype. He seems completely locked in, but the NFL has taken many rookies off track through the years.

Does Joe think Bain will hit 10 sacks this season? No, certainly not in 13 weeks. But that doesn’t mean Bain can’t be a consistent pass rusher and a massive upgrade from the guy he’s replacing.

I have never seen a college edge rusher bend like Bain. I don’t think Ronde is too far off on a 10 sack season for Bain.

  2. Truth be Told Says:

it is very possible Bain will have an impact that will be Franchise changing. If the Putrid Pass Defense is a thing of the past because of his ability to get to the QB and be a True Disruptor-he will save Todd’s job-the Bucs Offense will have less pressure to always be scoring and in turn should be helped greatly be a Real Defense. I am smelling at least 10 wins here and LFG to the playoffs. Sorry Haters! Go Bucs!!

  3. ModHairKen Says:

Slow down, Ronde. Jesus. God. Let the young man be.

  4. Football 1 Says:

Let’s hope Bain completely shuts out he media cause yes The media is making this guy out to be a HoF inductee before he even puts on a helmet.
Presently he can skip playing and simply be inducted to the HOF. Just a little over done I think.

  5. Locked In Says:

Barber has made some pretty absurd statements in the past. Just sayin

  6. Ash Says:

Slow down? Get out of here all systems go baby Bain is going to be a game changer for the bucs, bain doesn’t care about the hype he is all business.

  7. ATLBuc Says:

The only way Bain doesn’t get double digit sacks is if he’s double teamed every game, If so, Vea and Kancey will FEAST.

  8. Bucswin Says:

Bowles will make sure it will happen. In this scheme he might get 2 sacks a game I mean look what he did with Shaq. What do YOU think oblivious one? Go Bowles!

  9. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I predict 7+ for his rookie year.

  10. BucEmUp Says:

Nobody’s getting sacks when the corners are 12 yards out of the camera view.

Maybe they will finally press a little bit?

  11. Beeej Says:

I’m hoping Bain’s anger at being selected so late lasts the whole season, AND the rest of his rookie contract

  12. VegetableLasagna Says:

Yes I’m sure Bowles will lead the defense to greatness…….

  13. Lokog Says:

I will believe it when I see it

  14. Oxycondomns Says:

he wasnt able to do that vs college competition

  15. sethery Says:

LFG!!!! I think Diaby will too. He hasn’t had adequate talent across from him since he’s been on the team.

  16. B Says:

Well I, for one, am all in. “Hat Snatcher” tattoo on my left forearm says it all.

  17. exBrowns02 Says:

“I’m the best in the world, and I’m going to show everybody.” (Draft Night)

  18. exBrowns02 Says:

If he’s able to make an individual impact early, it will really be a boost for the whole defense. If Scott makes the mix with his old teammate, they’re going to raise havoc!

  19. 3.29.Evans Says:

Actually B-Rex will have 15 sacks in his first 8 games. It’s going to happen.

  20. 3.28.Evans Says:

    And beer is still underrated.

Amen. To my latest point above — the number of sacks he makes can actually be irrelevant. It’s how many offensive resources he’s able to distract that will make a more comprehensive impact on the overall performance of our defense.

This kid is young, strong and unrelenting. I’m hoping that he’ll be in the rotation in Cincinnati.

  22. Bartow Buc Says:

It’s very encouraging to hear Rhonde speak so positively about Bain. I think he’s going to get inside the heads of a lot of opposing quarterbacks this season !! He’s going to make a Huge difference in the Buccaneers Defense!!

    Go Bucs !!

  23. Saskbucs Says:

As usual, the key to this is Kancey.

If Kancey can finally stay healthy, everyone will eat.

Kancey is so fast knifing through the middle he is gonna flush the QB into many open arms.

    If he can stay healthy!

  24. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Give me 5 in the first 4-6 games.

  25. Buc1987 Says:

    We’ll see soon enough.

  26. Dan the Bucs Fan Says:

Bain I think will have about 7 sacks off left edge and Diaby will get about 7 sacks off right edge. Vea will get a few Kancy will get a few Muhammad will get 4-5 and this defense should be much better.

Bain just trying hard will be a huge upgrade over Reddick. The special teams also should be much better.

7 sacks for Bain changes this defense!
