Morning Cup Of Joe

July 7th, 2026

Welcome to your Morning Cup of Joe, an eye-opener to help Joe’s readers ease into their busy workday with a few football links, wacky news and a pleasant distraction.

Distraction of the Day

Sure smells like Marcellus Wiley got railroaded in Orange County by his soon-to-be ex-wife who was looking for leverage to get a divorce. If she was so scared of him, why did she fly from California to Orlando to share the same hotel room/bed? [PFT]

This is really good stuff: Curt Cignetti said he learned from working with Nick Saban that the No. 1 trait of a good football player, above anything else, is toughness. At every position, quarterback included. If anyone saw how Ohio State and Miami beat the snot out of Fernando Mendoza in the B1G and national championship games, respectively, Cignetti nailed his analysis of Mendoza. Police released text messages from one of the bait that Terrion Arnold (allegedly) used in his (alleged) kidnapping case. The bait were scared the (alleged) victims were going to get smoked. Among the items Arnold claimed the (alleged) victims grabbed from his Largo apartment were an $80,000 diamond chain, Goyard and Louis Vuitton bags (a man cannot expect to pull women without the right matching bags with his threads), Louis Vuitton shoes (New Balance won’t cut it), two Rolexes (dude struggles telling time so badly he needs two watches), $100,000 in cash (because he likes to hang at Tampa Hard Rock) and a Bible. Who the hell steals a Bible??? Someone is so worried about salvation they have to lift a man’s Bible??? Can’t wait to go to church or Confession? Doesn’t stealing a Bible sort of defeat the purpose? The deputies concluded that Wiley “did intentionally touch [his wife] against her will,” and that probable cause exists to charge [Wiley] with battery (domestic violence).

When the daughter’s statement didn’t match what the mother claimed, and the police said that they saw no evidence of injury, then this becomes “he said, she said.” They normally do not take one party’s claim as probable cause.

Either something is missing from the story, or the claim of probable cause is a big reach.

  2. Fred McNeil Says:

For a minute there I was thinking we should take a flier on Terrion Arnold. He was a first round pick after all. Apparently he is no better in coverage nor any less injury prone than what we already have. Besides, by this time next year he will be a wide receiver.

If only our defense tackled as well as that mom.

I’m sorry that he lost an arm, but it sounds like he’s a scumbag. I also read elsewhere that he was texting and driving when it happened.

This story is over 5 years old.

  5. Lt. Dan Says:

Class act Mr. Bidwill…class act indeed.

  6. FortMyersDave Says:

Fred McNeil, I am pretty sure if Terrion Arnold was a real asset to the Lions, then they would have never cut him loose. Look at the ATL and Pearce, despite everyone saying that Pearce’s career was over after his escapades down in SE FL, it looks like he will be able to play for the ATL this year though the NFL will probably suspend him for several games and have it so his first game back will be against the Bucs. It’s a Buc’s life……

    Terrion Arnold

Do we really want this wanna be gangster and his “posse” terrorizing the Bay Area any further? My family still lives in Tampa. Hillsborough County will put him away for awhile. Future in the NFL is … well, maybe Atlanta He and Pearce could be VIPs at the Pink Pony…

    Go Bucs
