Bucs Football Is Back!

July 29th, 2026

It’s here!

We’ve made it.

It annoys Joe how America’s favorite sport has the longest offseason. Maybe that’s why it is so popular? You know, like the hot chick next door who teases you for months and then out of the blue at 10 p.m., she’s knocking on your back door looking for comfort.

The offseason, with free agency, the draft and underwear football, is nothing more than a giant tease, a siren’s song.

Football, at least to some degree, is back in Tampa Bay. Bucs ball. You can feel it.

As you are reading this here post, Joe is out at practice at One Buc Palace. Joe will get to see Rueben Bain sweat and Baker Mayfield complete passes to Emeka Egbuka with only the free air as a defender.

And Joe will see countless Amazon truck drivers, Chili’s assistant managers and high school history teachers and short-order cooks continue to con themselves that they are NFL players.

With all the drama circling around Baker Mayfield and Vita Vea and their contract hassles/trade demand, training camp this summer actually has some juice.

So yes, breathe easier. Football is back. The long spring and summer of reading stats and empty quotes is over. Footballs are in the air.

    Can’t wait!

  8. BuccoMarty Says:

My prediction: Incredibly Average Todd Bowles will lead this team to another NFC Dumpster Fire Division championship with an impressive 8-8-1 record.

As always, the start will be strong, the middle half of the season will have a slump, and they’ll figure some way to eek out the ch(u)mpionship in week 18.

    God help us all.

  10. LVMYBUCS Says:

Vet players see the writing on the wall and want to go where they have a real chance to win a SB, not hang around for another season same o same dumb as head coach running the show.

FINALLY! No more lists. Just football.

  12. BucsFanNJ Says:

    There’s zero ‘juice’.

When you lose Mike Evans, Lavonte David retires, and you alienate two of your team leaders – you don’t have juice. The writing is on the wall. And it isn’t saying anything good.

  13. itzok Says:

back to the top three pick in next years draft

    Fire the coach already

  14. Fire The Cannons & Fire Todd Says:

Fingers crossed for a healthy pre season and only 6 more months of Todd Blows in Tampa

  15. ModHairKen Says:

Ain’t no chick “knocking on” my “back door.” Don’t know what deal you’re on, Joe. But Licht keeps knocking on his star players back doors, and he keeps getting told “later, clown”.

  16. BucsFanNJ Says:

Here is some ‘JUICE’ – no Tristan Wirfs at practice today per Greg Auman.

  17. Steven #55 Says:

I hear Vea is a hold in

Do you think anyone who is trying to make this team are thinking about any of the senior citizens you mentioned? These young people are trying to make the team and make a name for themselves. These financial situations help them to understand that football is a business and they have to get the most out of it while they can.
Do you think Bain and all of our first and second year guys are going into training camp thinking, “Oh no! They are making Baker and Vita play out their contracts! Woe is me!!!” These guys are going out there to EAT!!!
These situations do not bring team morale down. Jason has been doing things the same since he got here. Vita is the one breaking protocol by demanding a trade. Puts him in the company of Devin White.

  19. Couch Fan Says:

Free air as a defender is the usual Bowles Defense.

  20. George R Says:

I look forward to the NFL going to 18 weeks schedule, that will give us 2 more weeks of football.
