Zac Robinson History With Bijan Robinson Has Kenneth Gainwell Excited

June 16th, 2026

Excited by possibilities.

Running backs like to tote the rock. And last week, speaking with the local pen and mic club, Kenneth Gainwell made it clear he’s not just a perimeter running back.

Gainwell said he showed while he was in Pittsburgh that he could run between the tackles if his number is called.

Though Gainwell didn’t come out and say it, he seemed to imply new Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson’s history building a run game, especially with Bijan Robinson, was a selling point for him coming to Tampa in March.

“I know exactly what he did with Bijan [Robinson] last year, and [building running attacks] previous years before that,” Gainwell said. Watching tape of Robinson’s offense in Atlanta “you kind of want to — you kind of get excited about that.

“I’m coming in a great situation [with the Bucs].”

Gainwell said last week he and Mayfield were on the same page often in practice, the most they’ve mindmelded to date.

When healthy, the Bucs’ offensive line has demonstrated it’s one of the best in the league. And Robinson has proven he can build a successful running attack and it wasn’t just Bijan Robinson, either.

Yeah, no Mike Evans hurts bad, but the Bucs have plenty of strong receivers to keep a defense honest. Gainwell may just prove to Joe he is a big time sleeper pickup.

It’s time to forget about Evans & focus on the future

It’s time to forget about Evans & focus on the future. Evans is part of Bucs history

  3. 3.28.Evans Says:

It’s time to remember Evans and focus onthe fact that he felt compelled to leave….because Jason could have done the right thing and didn’t. Lessons not learned from failure simply means that failures repeat and get worse.

That’s what we has here now, Bucs fans.

  4. Football 1 Says:

I think again Gainwell is a great addition. He is well needed as the offense will need to score a lot of points because the defense still needs a few players and the rookies need time to develop.

What we haov hyah is failya to camoonicate. Some men jist don’t git it! The Bucs and Jason Licht in particular wanted Evans back. For whatever reason, Evans didn’t want to stay and that is 100% his right. He owes nothing to the Bucs except the courtesy of sitting down with them and even the media to a lesser degree, to explain why instead of keeping everyone guessing. He could have done so in a frank yet diplomatic way that would have made it easier to read between the lines. That way we wouldn’t have to listen to some of our idiot posters say with 100% certainty that it was 3rd and 28 or that he had to get away from Baker because he sucks and Purdy shines.

3-28 bro we get it but damn get tf over it you and like 2 other fans come everyday just to cry about Todd and his coaching he is still here it makes you look like a crybaby with every post good or bad your only thing is talking about what an incompetent coach we have everyone knows how you feel about him get over it man frfr it’s not hard to say (man I’m hoping my team does great ) and then just end your comment

  8. AquaBum Says:

Eff Mike Evans. No respect for a player who immediately cites the fan base as a reason for leaving. Be a pro, leave and keep off podcasts

  9. 3.28.Evans Says:

Time for more articles about Evans, the “Buccaneers for life” leaving and the obvious reason he left. Always remember and never forget. It won’t be better until the inevitable has been implemented, and that will cost Jason his own job, too.

Glad Gainwell is excited to get to work, but I’m not completely sold on ZRob all the way just yet. Gotta show me the problems with the bland, inconsistent offense were ATL issues and not HIS issue. Want to see what the calls look like, how Robinson leans on his backfield and seeing if he can improve the stench of being able to convert on 3rd down which was a buggaboo for his offenses both year with the Falcons.

Still want to know why Drake London was cussing he and his offensive staffers out at the end of last season.

Sorry but this fan doesn’t cry over spilled milk ,this fan rolls with the punches, dwell on the past you’ll stay miserable! I dont expect the team rolling over cause they didn’t make the playoffs for once in the last few years,or evans leaving, they’re gonna pick themselves up by the bootstrap like men do and try again! There’s a lot of crybabies its a shame

  12. 3.28.Evans Says:

Zac will certainly be able to look like a superstar offensive coordinator going up against Twocoach’s “defense” in slow walk throughs every day. Hell, Kirk Cousins was a superstar against Twocoach and a complete crippled scrub against everyone else.

I too am skeptical that Zac has enough juice in the tank to overcome his boss/defensive counterpart’s severe deficiencies and run a productive offense against the rest of the league not named Todd.

  13. Fred McNeil Says:

I’m not worried about the offense at all. Gainwell was a good signing too.

  14. Fred McNeil Says:

As far as Evans goes we play with the players we have. Not the players we wish we had

  15. jcscycles Says:

3.28. Gaslighter! Just ignore him. Like any sociopath he wants attention.

When he was Aqualung he was good for a laugh once in a while. Now, not so much.

  16. garro Says:

Looks like wants the ball. Cool!

    Go Bucs!

  17. Kenton Smith Says:

garro. That’s what I was thinking.
