“Unguardable At Practice”

June 28th, 2026

“You hurt me, Mike.”

More reviews are in on the greatest receiver in Tampa Bay history.

That would be 49ers receiver Mike Evans. Old man Niners tight end Kyle Juszczyk told NFL Network how much Evans has impacted the team through the spring.

“Mike has been so impressive, and I feel like that’s saying so much because we were expecting so much,” Juszczyk told NFL Network. “Your expectations are already high, and I feel like he’s already exceeded that. He has been unguardable at practice. Red zone has been an absolute problem. He’s a great teammate. I think everyone has already enjoyed his presence so much. I think he’s going to be an incredible leader for the WR room. It’s hard to imagine a better addition than Mike has been.”

Imagine a guy of Evans’ stature, healthy, walking into the Bucs locker room off the street. Damn. Joe’s struggling to find an analogy. Healthy Hall of Famers rarely are in that position.

So Evans has been “unguardable” at Niners practice. That almost makes Joe feel better about Bucs cornerback Benjamin Morrison, who was roasted and toasted by Evans last summer in training camp.

Joe will be interested to see if Evans makes it through this summer without a hamstring issue, especially with him likely doing a little extra since he’s on a new team.

Good for Mike. Hope he stays healthy but I’m betting he’ll miss some games due to injuries

  2. Mort Says:

    Could’ve franchise tagged him.

  3. Baking with Robinson Says:

Mikes dream is not the Super Bowl. Mikes dreams about playing against Todd and completing both a 3rd And 28 and 4th and 14.

  4. Permanently Moderated Says:

Are we learning anything new about Mike that we didn’t already know? If not, I’m not sure why we would care about another team’s receiver, especially when we don’t play the Niners this year.

  5. Mike C Says:

    Eff that guy

  6. Tye Says:

Mike knew he accomplished all he ever could under one of the leagues worst HC/dc…

Be Surprised If the Bucs don’t lose more quality players this next off season if the Bucs are stupid enough to keep IBS!

  7. Dale W Says:

    3rd and 28

  8. Miller5252 Says:

Sucks the Bucs ran him out of town. Just kept drafting his replacement when the D needed more help than anything else. Disrespected the guy after years of dealing with garbage teams put out. He’s finally going to have a coach building game plans and plays just for him to succeed. I bet he has a monster year!

  9. Coburn Says:

Hope he has a great season. He deserves it imo. I understand why he left. Its a lame duck season and the guy is at the end of his career

  10. buc4evr Says:

So Brandon Aiyuk wants an immediate release from the niners and is calling Lynch and Shanahan every name under the sun. lol. He wants to go play for Washington with his buddy Jaylon. If Evans has to be the #1 or take a bigger role, his hammy will put him in the hot tub for 7 games. At the very least he will not be at full speed by game 10. I think Evans is going to have big health problems and I am glad he is gone. Time for the younger guys to step up.

  11. Steve V Says:

Missed 12 games the last 2 seasons as a Buc! Hurst! Out with the old in with the new!

  12. Jake Been there since the beginning Says:

Well from what I read a 4.53 at the combine 12 years ago tells me the 49ers need some faster corners now if they can’t keep up with Evans in practice.

  13. JohnQCitizen Says:

    Let’s move on.

  14. MelvinJunior Says:

I mean, IF he is completely healthy, then I would say that is 💯 a very true statement.

  15. SlyPirate Says:

A NEW TAKE ON EVANS …

Evans spent a lof of time with Jerry Rice last year. He made videos, did interviews, ect with the GOAT. I wonder if his allure with the 49ers had something to do with Rice?

  16. BigZ Says:

Move on, man. Hes no longer a Buc.

  17. seth b Says:

Until he pulls a hammy week 4

  18. Beeej Says:

There’s a REALLY good chance the Niners only get the wild card, and WE win the division….and Mike has to come HERE

  19. Scott Says:

Again aren’t we talking underwear football, he certainly got covered when he was a Buc! Let’s pump the brakes! In fact let’s slam on the brakes

  20. 3.28.Evans Says:

Way to go, Tood. You’re the one who should be gone, not Mike.

Way to go Jason. You and Toodster will be fired together because you failed to do the right thing that would have kept Mike a Buc and given the team a chance to compete instead of regress and quit.

  21. Hodad Says:

    Who gives a sh#t?

  22. Bigbucfan90 Says:

Bucs vs 49ers…. You heard it here first lol, I think if Tampa can win the division this is a very real possibility in the post season round 1 aka wildcard weekend.

  23. Stpetematt Says:

Bowles and the Bucs headed for a great year!

    Evans not so much.

  24. LynchMob50 Says:

Baker is going to regress even further without his best red zone target.

Mike brought the intensity every single day no matter the opponent.

Alas, he grew weary of the clown car that is the Bowles regime.

Turns out that inconsistent QB play and a 32nd ranked red zone defense will chase away a HOF WR.

For a pay cut and higher taxes. That’s not just moving on, that’s escaping.

    Licht+Bowles+Baker= incompetence and stupidity.

  25. Mike C Says:

Glad the Bucs risked a playoff spot to get him his stats……. EFF U MIKE

  26. Rod Munch Says:

If Baker didn’t singlehandedly cost the Bucs the playoffs with his awful play, Evans would still be here. But as he said, he wanted to “go to a championship team with a good quarterback.”

  27. Kenton Smith Says:

“But as he said, he wanted to “go to a championship team with a good quarterback.” Rod, that comment, to many would indicate that Mike has things going on in his life that reflect the loss of an ability to clearly articulate in his mind the difference between his a$$ and a hole in the ground.

    ———

Or more likely, it reflects the fact he played with Baker Mayfield last year, and saw him lose game after game after game after game with the playoffs on the line and doesn’t think he’s ever going to win anything meaningful. Which, BTW, is exactly Baker’s record.

  29. Kenton Smith Says:

Rod. It’s rather late, but snap!snap! You’re saying that Baker has never won anything meaningful? How the heck can he be in negotiations for what may be a contract in the vicinity of a quarter of a billion dollars if he’s never won anything meaningful? I know you’re not an airhead, Rod. So quit acting like one.
