Rueben Bain Short Arms Didn’t Show Up At Bucs Practices

June 23rd, 2026

More Rueben Bain observations emerge.

The excitement level for Miami Mauler rookie edge rusher Rueben Bain at One Buc Palace is sky high. The evidence is mounting.

Todd Bowles talked about how “grateful” he is to have Bain, describing him as a one-man pass rush clinic and noting Bain is not “normal.”

Other players have gushed and yesterday it was Cody Mauch’s turn. Mauch sat down with WDAY-TV at the site of his football camp at North Dakota State University. Mauch’s tone of voice rose when Bain came up.

“Absolutely fantastic player, oh goodness, he is,” Mauch said of Bain.

“You know his whole knock was the short arms coming out of college; And I understand that, I got knocked for that, as well. I mean just through the OTAs and mincamp we’ve had so far, the short arms don’t matter for him. He is an absolutely beast. So I’m excited to see him work this year.”

Very cool to hear the energy in Mauch’s words. The rookie seems like could be a transformative player for the entire franchise.

Joe, however, would be very happy to a see a consistent rookie season from Bain — steadily improving, staying healthy and putting of solid pass rush numbers.

Bain is 21. He doesn’t need to take over the NFL this season.

This team with a nasty pass rush and the offense healthy will be very, very difficult to beat.

  2. Usfbucs Says:

Did they not show up because they were so short?

I feel like the Joes set this up here.

Let’s wait to see how he does in games and a full season. We have been fed hype before that never panned out. If they turn him into a game wrecker he will be the first. Diaby is good but hasn’t shown great yet either.

  3. Usfbucs Says:

I would like to see a little flash and little to no bad this year. If we get that then we can start to get hyped for next season.

  4. #1bucsfan Says:

99 and 55 came on the seen and wrecked havoc. I wanna see Bain and trotter do the same. I know it’s crazy to say but with all the hype Bain is getting and maybe just maybe the Dline opens things up and frees the LBs

  5. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Half a dozen sacks would be nice but it sounds like most are expecting more this year. Maybe we should.

  6. Allen Lofton Says:

If Bain plays the same way like he did College, the Bucs defense will be top ten performer, and a healthy Bucs offense will have the Bucs being serious contenders, and even more importantly silence the pathetic negative naysayer Media.

    GO BUCS

He’s what, 21? Maybe he’s not done growing yet, men usually don’t till about 25. Not that it matters , food for thought.

  9. DavidsHogg Says:

He doesn’t need to take over this season Joe, but it’d be a lot cooler if he did

  10. Teacherman Says:

Vea is the key for Kancey and Bain.

We need to guarantee Vea. He’s earned. He’s played against double teams for most of his career.

3 years: 75 million. Fully guaranteed.

He’s earned it. Bain needs Vea for the next 3 years.

    We all do!

Vea is the key our run defense.

Joe says, “He doesn’t need to take over the NFL this season.” But, I’m sure he’d like to, and I doubt Bucs fans would oppose it either.
