Morning Cup Of Joe

June 2nd, 2026

Welcome to your Morning Cup of Joe, an eye-opener to help Joe’s readers ease into their busy workday with a few football links, wacky news and a pleasant distraction.

Distraction of the Day

Kyle Pitts likes how Matty Ice is running the Dixie Chicks. [PFT]

Ben Roethlisberger is nervous how the Steelers are trying to develop Drew Allar. It’s going to take three years of really good coaching to work the Franklin out of him. [CBS]

Todd Haley steamed at podcaster for saying the game had passed Mike Tomlin by. This would be news to Bryon Leftwich. [Yahoo!]

Which teams are worth the hype? [NFL]

Fun in the desert. [TikTok]

Russell Wilson retires; joins CBS. [Front Office Sports]

George Kittle is open to an 18-game regular season but wants these two things in return for players. These conditions are fair. [Front Office Sports]

For crying out loud, will someone, anyone, trade for A.J. Brown? Please for the love of God, someone trade for this Jerry Rice of the 21st Century. Good grief, all Joe has read about for friggin’ years is that the Eagles are going to trade A.J. Brown. THEN FRIGGIN’ TRADE HIM!!! Joe swears he’s been reading A.J. Brown trade rumors since Dianna Russini was in a sorority. This is far worse than the Odell Beckham slurping (which is bad). [SI]

Since the SEC can’t win the college football playoffs, SEC apologist/paid spokesman Paul Finebaum now calls folks paid to cover the game, not shill for a conference, “stupid people” because they value teams that actually win playoff games. Good ol’ Pawl. [Awful Announcing]

Anyone else suspicious of why the Google geeks want to release tens of millions of “good” mosquitoes into Florida? Does Google own any Red Chinese fake meat factories? [WTVT]

Jerkwads who eff with buffalo in the wild generally end up regretting their life decisions. [Outkick]

Eating Santa’s cookies is NOT cool! [TikTok]

    To the New England Patriots

The same geeks who are releasing “good” ticks that make everyone allergic to red meat.

I guess it was “good mosquitos” that caused microcephaly in Brazil (which was linked to the Zika virus transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes). That was a nice Bill Gates project. I’m sure nothing will go wrong this time.

These psychopaths are engineering the fulfillment of Revelation.

  4. Hunter's Crack Pipe Says:

From the story: [I]The organization promises its “good bugs” are designed to eliminate the disease-ridden “bad bugs.”[/I]

I have lived in the south my whole life, and probably been bitten by mosquitos a million times. I have yet to feel a need to be bitten by a better form of mosquito. The old ones haven’t hurt me or anyone I know.

I think that was a deer, not a buffalo. Doesn’t really matter. You can’t fix stupid.

Read the whole story crazy. There is a video.

Weren’t Love bugs supposed to take care of mosquitoes? Didnt work out real well.

I don’t care if it’s a koala or a lemur or a squirrel… It’s a wild animal capable of scratching, biting, clawing, gording, trampling, and maybe even spreading a desease/infection, etc, etc. Why would you ever approach a wild animal capable of doing you harm? They are all unpredictable. Even if it’s a wild animal that’s normally harmless, it might have rabies. How about you stay a good distance away from something you are not very familiar with, ESPECIALLY if it weighs five to ten times more than you.

I’m guessing most of these are city folk. I grew up in the country where people definitely know better.

Urban legend. The introduction of love bugs to Florida was natural, not man-made or man-caused.

  9. Steven007 Says:

So was your AJ Brown tirade written before he was traded to the Patriots? Because you even have a post from NFL Network about that trade….

  10. TampaBayBucFan Says:

Mike Evans is gone….it is a waste of time, emotion , energy to continue to lament.
    Let’s move on , please….

LOL yeah Joe…Love bugs were supposed to be a good thing as well if I remember right. But it probably beats fogging my neighborhood with DDT. Do not trust Pichai! at all… period.
