Al-Quadin Muhammad: Rueben Bain Is “A Natural”

June 17th, 2026

Bucs edge rusher Al-Quadin Muhammad.

Al-Quadin Muhammad has been around some good players in his eight-year NFL career. Cam Jordan and Aidan Hutchinson are a couple of the edge rushers he’s played alongside.

So it really got Joe’s ears perked up hearing AQM discuss Bucs’ first-round pick Rueben Bain. The way AQM described the Miami Mauler, the man was born to play top-shelf football.

“He’s just a natural,” AQM said. “It’s like he’s been here before. Sometimes the rookies, there’s a lack of urgency.

“I don’t see that with him. He picked things up pretty well. He’s out there having fun. He’s not nervous, he’s just playing football.

“It’s impressive. It’s impressive to see.”

It almost sounds from AQM’s words that Bain doesn’t need a whole lot of coaching. Joe thinks that could be attributed to his position coach at Miami, Jason Taylor. Bain was well-schooled about the pro game from a former great pro himself.

Joe hopes that pays off come September.

    Rueben Redford to the Rescue

I was watching the video of Bain and Diaby. You could see a vast difference in the way the 2 approach the drills. I can see now why Diaby is a second tier rusher. Bain is going to be a good one. His addition with the other DL additions is going to really help this defense get back to what we are used to with the Bucs.

  3. Truth be Told Says:

Take a look around. The Bucs have certainly added alot of New faces that can only help the Putrid Pass Defense that we have been punished by these last couple of years. Bain, Anzalone, Trotter, Muhammad the DB from Miami. If we can actually generate a Pass Rush and get off the field on 3rd (and 4th) downs with an improved Special Teams and a Healthy O-Line with a Motivated Baker and the Low Key addition of Gainwell-watch out. LFG!!

The pass rush should be vastly improved this season. I hope it’s good enough to keep the opposing O on their heels. We’ll see in September. New season new hope.

Vast improvements on the D for sure but man do we need a veteran corner or two. I have faith in McCullum and Morrison and Parish – but faith + $5 buys you a sandwich.

McCullum could get bored, Morrison is unproven and injury prone, and Parrish hasn’t proven to be a solid outside CB. That a whole lot of faith.

  6. Allen Lofton Says:

He looks impressive so far, but I caution everyone that this is underwater football preseason practice.

Let’s wait until the pads come on officially in a few months with the offensive line trying to stop him. That’s when we know what we truly have. Hopefully he makes other players like Ya Ya and Kainsey more impact full by allowing everyone to be freed up of from being double teamed. A really good pass rush makes the secondary that much better.

If this happens Todd Bowles will save his career and the Bucs could become a real playoff contender.

Let’s see now. We have YaYa, Bain, AQM and David Walker on the edge. That could possibly be a pretty good rotation. That depth should manifest itself in the fourth quarter if they are used correctly.

  9. Ash Says:

Yaya doesn’t have the kinda bend Bain has he is an alien his nose is grazing blades of grass as he rounds the hulu hoop he is definitely gonna be a problem in the league bucs should be counting their lucky stars the draft went the way it did.

Jason Taylor – ahh yes, the brother of Ms. “peanut butter skin and big cans.”

  11. Kenton Smith Says:

They call them “impact” players. He has the ability and the lust for the game. If the young man keeps his nose clean, he’ll be an impact player on our defense. We need a few. Kancey. Vea. Winfield. Tykee. Almost rookie Walker. Wrist injury rookie from Georgia. Topping it off with our new free agents. I’m thinking we might have a much better defense than last year. Capeheart and Trotter are wild cards. Gonna be fun seeing how this defense shakes out.
