Keionte Scott Sort Of Reveals Some Of His Secrets

May 10th, 2026

No hiding Keionte Scott’s surgically-repaired wrist.

Watching Miami play in the playoffs four months ago, it was unreal at times to see how new Bucs nickel corner Keionte Scott was all over the line of scrimmage.

Often he was behind the line of scrimmage, making plays and tackles for loss. In 14 games for the Canes, Scott had 13 tackles for loss — at nickel corner.

Scott was asked on Friday why he seems to be all over run plays so fast and so well. It’s as if he already knows what’s being called.

Scott said you can sum up why in one word: preparation.

“I would say, ultimately, understanding the defense and what the defensive coordinator is trying to get done within the call,” Scott said. “Then, reading the formation, different things like that.

“Just kind of breaking down all those things. Some [moves] I’ve put together throughout my years of college, being able to slow the game down and kind of see things before they happen.

“So I would just say it’s the process of the years playing and seeing the things, and then also being able to take my time throughout the week and breaking things down to be able to slow the game down for me.”

In other words, Scott is a cerebral player who is equally physical. That almost sounds like John Lynch or Rondé Barber.

Scott seems like how the late basketball coach Bobby Knight used to describe a good player. Knight would often say, “Everyone has the will to win. But do you have the will to prepare to win?”

It seems Scott has that specific will. There is no substitute in football.

Jumping that screen pass against OSU kind of backs up how well Scott does that, the formation the buckeyes were in which was trips. Scott knew that 3rd WR that was inside and off ball wasn’t eligible pre-snap. Blew past the block attempt, caus caught the pass, and took it to the house

Scott should start preparing for the first game when the schedule comes out! With his wrist, he probably needs to lay off some of the physical work. He can get some mental reps in.

  8. Teacherman Says:

You can still run even with a healing wrist.

He will come back in peak fitness.

    Fast and Ferocious.

I cant wait to see Bain and Scott actually hit people.

I haven’t seen a good hit in a couple of years.
