Jason Licht Comments On Cam Jordan Chatter, Takes Swipe At Slimy Saints

April 29th, 2026

No thanks.

Boy, Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht does not like the slimy Saints. At. All.

Yesterday when Licht appeared with Tom Krasniqi on WDAE-AM 620/WDAE-AM 95.7, the subject of the slimy Saints came up.

There has been chatter, often heard on sports radio, that hey, let bygones be bygones and go sign noted Bucs hater edge rusher Cam Jordan. The Bucs need sacks worse than Joe needs a cold beer on a July Friday afternoon.

And Jordan, who had 10.5 sacks last year, has missed a grand total of two games in 15 years. That Ndamukong Suh-like stability. But Jordan also never misses a chance to slam the Bucs or individual Tampa Bay players whenever he has an opportunity.

The feelings are mutual with Licht, who never misses a chance to throw shade at Jordan on social media, especially after the Bucs beat the slimy Saints.

Could Licht, or Bucs fans, set aside their hatred of Jordan if he can help the Bucs return to the playoffs?

Well, Licht told Krasniqi, in polite terms, that idea is BS.

When Rueben Bain came to One Buc Palace on the day after he was drafted, Licht, in the press conference, made sure to tell Bain that the slimy Saints turned their noses up at him.

Never too early to stoke the fires.

“When you bring these guys in, you have to get them indoctrinated into the team,” Licht said. “I think one of the first things they should do is watch that “Raise the Flags” documentary, because I learned a lot from watching it.

“But you have to let [new players] know who you can like and who you can’t. … I hadn’t had the chance to have that conversation with him yet, that that team in Louisiana is not something that we like.”

Joe loved how Licht went all Ohio State-Michigan hate there. Ohio State people never refer to Michigan as “Michigan.” Instead, it’s “that team up north.” (Michigan people derisively refer to Ohio State simply as “Ohio.”)

But as far as Jordan, Licht said after a slight chuckle, “I think we’re OK right now. I’m very excited about that room and we feel like we’ve got a bonus [draft pick] from last year. … You can’t sleep on David Walker.”

Joe sure would like to see Walker finish a padded practice before Joe stays awake all night thinking about him.

So there you have it. Even if the Bucs could use his production, the Bucs aren’t going to lower themselves to grovel to all-time a-hole Cam Jordan.

Bucs already hosted the Albert Haynesworth and Shaggy Baker clown shows, the latter being a worse end result than the first… don’t need a Cam Jordan version.

  2. BillyBucco Says:

We certainly don’t need another Randy Gregory ordeal.
I could see that dude letting the Saints win while on the field and just collecting a pay check.
If he ever had a flat tire, nobody in Tampa would help him.

Cam Jordan can eat a Richard

Mason Rudolph Trade Fit — Keep Watching

Pittsburgh drafted Drew Allar, already has Will Howard, and Rapoport recently said — “the Steelers are open to dealing Mason Rudolph.” He’s gone.

Here’s why the Bucs make sense: OC Zac Robinson is literally Rudolph’s guy. They trained together, lived together before the 2018 draft, Robinson ran his Pro Day prep. Rudolph called him “a good friend and definitely a guy in my corner.” He already speaks the language — playbook install shouldn’t be a problem.

Our QB room is thin. Browning is the No. 2 but Licht wasn’t exactly selling him hard in his pre-draft presser. Behind Browning? Two UDFAs. That’s not a room, that’s a prayer.

Rudolph is 8-4-1 as a starter with real playoff-adjacent experience. Cost is a 6th or 7th rounder. Licht builds his roster through the post-draft cuts window every year — his words, not mine. Rudolph fits that window perfectly.

  5. Zoocomics Says:

There can’t be one fan on this site that would want this guy. Saints guys are the worst homers when it comes to the Bucs, and I’m all about that vice versa. Keep receipts Jason, lets sweep these dudes this season.

  6. Crazyhorse54 Says:

LUVMYBUCS, really well put together read. Seriously, you have a gift for writing. Loved what you wrote and the way you wrote it.

  7. MadMax Says:

Hope we never sign that clown…..dont need him anyway.

  8. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

This would be like Dennis Rodman going from Pistons to Bulls, or Marchand going from Boston to Panthers. Everyone hates those guys till they help your team win a championship.

  9. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

I find the “team up north” stuff goofy. Whatever dude. However, I simply have no respect for the Saints. I hate them most. But no matter what, they hate us more. We got our very first W in team history in their dome and neither fan base forgets that. So in this cold, cold heart of mine there’s a tiny warm space for New Orleans where our team of boys became men for the first time. None for the team, but for the town just a little nice memory.

  10. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Like SuH, Dennis Rodman and Brad Marchand.
When they are on your team it’s great, but if not on your team….
Sometimes these type players help win championships, but just not
sure you can trust Cam Jordan but I’d love to see Tristin ask him face to face about his “not an athlete “ comments

  11. Lefty R Says:

Well, Bruce Smith went to Washington DC for four more years!!! after his Buffalo Bills career and he did alright

Cam Jordan is a stable family man, he has four kids, a nice wife…. he is Christian and went to Cal Berkley…. if has something left in the tank and can help us win, I don’t care if he becomes Count Dracula during the off-season and writes OP Eds about how bad the Bucs are or how Fat someone is!!
It takes two to tango…. would he even want to come to Tampa to continue his career? If he did come to Tampa, I would be okay with it.

  12. ChiBuc Says:

This whole fued between a franchise GM and an opposing team’s defensive lineman is a bit juvenile. In corp hiarchy it is not uncommon for underlings (players) to punch up and the ppl in power (GM) to pat down. Imo, Licht engaging Cam publicly is a distraction that shows weakness in leadership. It’s like butting heads with a donkey, Rod Munch. Why feed that need to be heard by Cam and stroke that ego. Cam likes to tell the world how great he is while belittling peers, lil dik-no daddy love syndrome (sound familiar Rod). So why would our top guy give that mouth a platform?

  13. Irishmist Says:

Instead of Jordan, we should kick the tires on David Njoku. He’s a free agent, wouldn’t cost us any draft capital, and would be an immediate upgrade to our tight end room. If the new offensive coordinator really wants to use a lot of 2 tight end looks, he would provide some decent value. We should pick him up before the 49ers do.

  14. Bejeezusbelt Says:

What no mention of Braswell starting the world on fire. Moving on from another failed edge rusher by this franchise. I hope Bain is all that and so much more. I don’t understand why this team has been so nonchalant about a pass rush, it makes the whole defense better. Shoot it makes Bowles defense really good in the past as I just don’t understand the complacency.

  15. Eckwood Says:

This is and has always been Lichts Dumb Jock disease Weakness!! I mean, we can go back many many years ago, where he said he built a tough defensive line and was gonna beat people up!! that defensive line was terrible and they got beat up!! he tends to think way too highly of himself in his group of players. He just isn’t realistic and doesn’t realistically look back at the past two years……. The goal is to be as good as you can be .Adding Cam Jordan is definitely going to make you better not worse.……….. The idea is to keep getting better and better and better ( Leadership and talent) .There is plenty of maneuvering within contracts to easily get the Bucs 25 million more cap Dollars………. One thing Rich McKay did better than JASON Light was after free agency and the draft he continued working trades or free agency to strengthen the team after the draft………… I don’t know whether the defensive line will be better, but he felt really good about it last year and it was absolutely terrible. One would say injuries ! Well that’s part of the game and he didn’t have adequate depth so to talk the way he does about the room and Jordan is absolutely foolish………. And quite frankly will probably sign his ticket out of town. This is a trend and a trait of His year in and year out.Its Just Ridiculous Cloudy Vision and Over Confidence . I mean, this is the same idiot that thought Benjamin Morrison was gonna come in and possibly be a starting corner his rookie season. I don’t know what Morrison will turn into, but he quite frankly was pretty much terrible last year. He was always injured and that will probably be a theme his entire career….. Jason does some good things, but he really has a weakness of foolish cloudy overconfidence……… just refuses to pack enough waters on the boat , it’s like he loads the cooler initially and he’s too lazy to go back with somebody else’s money and top it off. And the best part is , It’s his Job !! ……… Brady was the person that wasn’t Cloudy over confidence and Brady actually fixed Jason’s weakness es across the board . Brady ain’t here No ‘s More !!

  16. Tony Says:

Sure we can bring him in but only to be one of their cheerleaders.

  17. Guzzie55 Says:

Two things, 1st what better way to stick it to the Saints for both Cam and Bucs is us signing Cam and him unleashing hell on the Saints twice a year, won’t happen but would be fun, 2nd I think Zac ran so much 2 TEs out of necessity and Pitts is more big WR than TE, so that stat about him loving that formation is a little overblown, we have 5 receivers that could start for most teams, still would love to sign Njoku, he went to Miami and has been on a loser for his whole career, played with Baker, he would definitely improve the TE room

  18. 813bucboi Says:

    big F NO to Jordan!!!!

i want to keep him RINGLESS!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

Mason Rudolph Trade Fit — Keep Watching

Smart idea but Mason represents too much competition for Baker…Baker isnt mentally tough enough to handle a backup QB of Masons caliber…he poses too much of a threat to take his job

    GO BUCS!!!!

  20. Guzzie55 Says:

Bucboi funny take you really think Bowles can lead this team to a championship with or without Cam, I think not but made me laugh so thanks

  21. LynchMob50 Says:

Just another example of how Licht has no real clue what he’s doing.

If you want to win another SB, put the childish hatred aside and go get a stud defensive end.

Especially on a team that can’t get to the QB if they had a map.

This just screams over the top arrogance and lack of insight.

Brady made this clown look smart.

  22. 3.28.Evans Says:

Maybe a GM who failed to do the one and only thing necessary should put a sock in it, especially after his inaction resulted in the mass exodus of a Hall of Fame receiver still in his prime, the best DB, best all around RB, and two players who will shine with some real coaching in a modern defense.

    smh

  23. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Cam Jordan. 36 years old. double digit sacks once in the past 4 years. 2 sacks one of those years.

I will totally pass on that guy.

  24. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Would rather bring JPP back as an assistant coach.

  25. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

3.28.Evans, you love to make up facts.

  26. Mveal2006 Says:

Not packing enough waters for the boat trip is the best phrase I’ve heard in years.

And Jerry Eckwood just made the best critique of Jason I’ve heard in years.

And im a Jason fan at least on offensive line and receivers.

And the point is well taken. Rookie edge rushers barely produce and we could use a hof old guy guy over a long season

We screwed up once with this guy when we listened to the marketing dept. Don’t do it twice

  27. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

He never forgave us for not drafting him instead going for ALL WORLD Adrian Clayborn another guy with arm “problems” a pick that’s haunted us since.

  28. Buc1987 Says:

Bonzai…”10.5 sacks last year, has missed a grand total of two games in 15 years.”

  29. Rod Munch Says:

I don’t get how people get worked up about the stupid Saints. Maybe it was being raised in the NFC Central, but I don’t consider any of the dullard teams in the NFC South to be rivals, they’re all too boring. Now when we play the stupid Packers, that’s a game where I want the Bucs to curb stomp them and I root for injuries. But the Saints? Whatever.

  30. Duane Davis Says:

Jordan has long held animosity toward the Bucs since the idiot GM at the time, drafted a handicapped DE instead of him. Now both Dominick and the DE are both out of the NFL and Jordan is still making millions playing a child’s game. You would think that would be enough, but Jordan is still carrying a chip on his shoulder which apparently works for him
