Bucs Seem Interested In Tight Ends

April 15th, 2026

Georgia TE Oscar Delp.

Now this is starting to get interesting.

Joe doesn’t pay a whole lot of attention to official visits to One Buc Palace prior to the draft. The Bucs, and all teams, are allowed to host 30 players at their facilities.

Mostly these visits are not a direct tip off the Bucs are looking to draft a specific player.  Often they are fishing expeditions.

But multiple players at a specific position? That’s different.

Joe gets the sense that many Bucs fans cringe at the thought of the Bucs drafting Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq in the first round. Why Bucs fans wouldn’t want to add a dynamic talent that would drive defensive coordinators fits, Joe doesn’t fully understand.

Oh, don’t be confused. Joe knows all too well the Bucs have many holes on defense, probably too many for a rookie or two to make a significant difference right away.

But a stretch-the-field, versatile, athletic tight end? That’s the lone hole on the Bucs’ offense.

Some people out in the #NFLDraftMedia world have noted the Bucs are doing homework on tight ends, which leads some to think Sadiq is in play.

So here is interesting intel: The Bucs are scheduled to host Georgia tight end Oscar Delp this week, per Myles Simmons of ProFootballTalk.com. This is on the heels of hosting Ohio State tight end Max Klare.

Joe’s not sure why the Bucs would want to waste time with two decent tight end prospects if they really weren’t interested in drafting a tight end. (Yes, Joe knows the math — 30 visits divided by a dozen key positions.)

In his exhaustive draft guide “The Beast,” Dane Brugler of The Athletic has Delp as his No. 4 tight end. (He had Klare as his No. 3 tight end.)

So Joe decided to see what sort of intel veteran NFL scribe Bob McGinn, typing for GoLongTD.com, has from scouts on Delp.

McGinn has Delp in his second tier of tight ends, below No. 8.

Oscar Delp, Georgia (6-5, 245, 4.49)

Said one scout: “Really interesting player due to a very inconsistent career. Played amazing for a season, then completely disappeared. When he was used, Delp showed he could be the type of athlete that could create in the pass game. He has some stiffness in his movements but is more than able to win one-on-one against linebackers and safeties. He’s tough to bring down after the catch, which gives him even more value. His lack of production (70 receptions in 55 games, including 34 starts) could hurt but teams will likely think he has a chance to shine at the next level.”

Delp certainly sounds like a Day 3 sort of pick when you’re hoping to get lucky with a guy.

(For the record: “this Joe” is not a non-basketball association guy and loathes golf with a passion — it’s not a sport and if some rent-a-cop tried to steal Joe’s cell phone he’d get a swift kick in the nuts — who the hell do these people think they are??? So that usually means this time of the year, Sundays are for NASCAR and pounding beers. But Joe also hates short tracks, which Bristol is, and where NASCAR raced Sunday. Too much ring-around-the-rosie for Joe. So what did Joe watch on Sunday? The B1G championship game between Ohio State and Indiana. Klare was pretty much a no-show with just two catches but his tight end teammate, Will Kacmarek, did catch Joe’s eye. Kacmarek is McGinn’s No. 7 tight end.)

So, the fact the Bucs are doing extensive homework on tight ends tells Joe you cannot rule out Sadiq if he’s on the board when the Bucs pick at No. 15.

So Joe you did not enjoy watching Magic against Bird and you did not enjoy watching Jack against Arnold-You might be a football fan, but you are NOT a sports fan.

  2. FrontFour Says:

Bigger need on O if G/C depth. Draft has to be all D other than an O line depth piece in RD5 or RD6.

  3. BillyBucco Says:

Was watching Gabe Jacas last night and one highlight he whooped Max Claire for Ohio State. I guess everyone messes up sometimes but it made me wonder.
I thought he was supposed the be a great blocker.
I really think we only choose TE if we trade back and get some extra picks.
Bot worth taking one in rounds 5-7 IMO.
    We have loads of those.

  4. Hodad Says:

I will say there were a lot of TEs on official visits. Zac runs a lot of 12 personel, and had Pitts in Atlanta. If the Bucs believe Zadiq could be the player that makes this new offense cook why not draft him? He’s a top ten talent, no question, so at 15 it certainly wouldn’t be a reach. Even if we don’t take him, having him at 15 would be a great trade asset. We’ll know a week from now, thank goodness.

  5. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

So Delp caught passes from Gunner Stockton and Sadiq caught passes from Heisman candidate Dante Moore and the stats are almost identical. I think Delp is the better prospect. Just not a fan of Sadiq. He didn’t dominate like his measurements say he should have. One year wonders tend to not produce in the NFL because everyone is a really good player

  6. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

The only thing better than actually scouting these players because you want them, is making the teams picking behind us on day 1 & 2 think we want them.

I got to see a TE get drafted to believe we want a TE, because it’s like putting ya under wear on after your pants in terms of what we and do not have throughout the roster.

So yea, maybe it’s denial on my part, but this is real smokescreen-ish.

  7. Get-Rid-of-Licht Says:

Has anyone ever considered the idea that Jason Licht doesn’t have any clue what the heck he is doing ?

  8. Lt. Dan Says:

Sadiq and Culp on the field with Egbuka, Godwin, McMillan and Gainwell..? Hmmmm. Yea – I said Culp. I have a good feeling that Zac Robinson will know how to use him.

  9. Beeej Says:

This is more in line with what I’d expect from Jason–a 4th/5th round dude who MIGHT be really good

  10. Lakeland Says:

From what l seen from the offense last season
They have a lot more missing pieces than a TE that stretches the field

They have holes all over the place, probably more than the defense

  11. Truth be Told Says:

Can any of these TE’s Rush the Passer? lol

  12. HC Grover Says:

    Hope no replay of Howard.

  13. JimBobBuc Says:

Licht uses these visits as a mis-direction plays to fool other teams – don’t forget he’s drafted guys without official visits. Sometimes he uses visits to get intel on other players such as Delp talking about a UGA player, like CJ Allen.

However, Joe should show us the interviews at the combine! See the Bucs TE interviews below:

Oregon TE Kenyon Sadiq – FORMAL
Ohio State TE Max Klare – FORMAL
Stanford TE Sam Roush – FORMAL
Georgia TE Oscar Delp – FORMAL
Texas A&M TE Nate Boerkircher – FORMAL
Ohio State TE Will Kacmarek – FORMAL
Notre Dame TE Eli Raridon – FORMAL

  14. Bucfan74 Says:

    Free Devin Culp

  15. KABucs Says:

I played with a mock draft simulator and ended up with an interesting group. Traded down twice (once in first round) and ended up with 10 total picks. Admittedly, this is fully unrealistic and Fantasyland type drafting but it was kind of fun. I’d be okay with this haul (though I was just goofing around and probably drafted too many edge rushers. LOL. Lost track of what I had… probably should have added another OL or WR in there somewhere, but was always trying to get value at every round and not reach):

    20. Olaivavega Loane – IOL – Penn State
    46. Jacob Rodriguez – LB -Texas Tech
    77. Domonique Orange – DL – Iowa State
    96. Joshua Josephs – EDGE – Tennessee
    116. Oscar Delp – TE – Georgia
    169. Ephesians Prysock – CB – Washington
    188. Max Llewellyn – EDGE – Iowa
    195. Tim Keenan III – DL – Alabama
    210. Aiden Fisher – LB – IN
    229. George Gumbs Jr. – EDGE – UF

This is also the free version so missing a lot of data. I didn’t really incorporate special teams as something a lot of these guys would be good at or not. Probably no worse than most of the mocks out there that are total fantasy as well. LOL

  16. BigBoiBuc Says:

@LtDan – so start Sadiq and Culp. And bench a TE you just guaranteed $20 Million dollars the next 2 years. Got it.

  17. 813bucboi Says:

    KABUCS

I’d jump thru the roof and renew my season tickets if we came out that!!!!!..lol…

i’d swap #96 for another CB/DB….maybe Devin Moore…but great mock imo

    GO BUCS!!!!

  18. BigBoiBuc Says:

Otton + Durham in run sets, + Culp in pass sets, + Ko/ Durham in 13 sets. Not enough balls to go around to have to use draft picks on TEs. Falcons had Pitts and Charlie Woerner ( O career Tds in 6 years) and did just fine. Draft IOL and the rest defense.

  19. 813bucboi Says:

Maybe they’re getting extra intel on Mcdonald and c.miller…2 DTs that might be in the mix…could be trying to throw other teams off

    GO BUCS!!!!

  21. PSL Bob Says:

From what I’ve seen, either take Sadiq with the #15 pick or forget tight ends and focus solely on defense. Our current TE group may not be the best, but they’re not going to be the reason we lose games. Sadiq could help us win games!

  22. Ash Says:

I talked to Jason on sunday the sadiq dream ain’t happening.

  23. 3.28.Evans Says:

Yeah. Whatever. Lovies will drag Jason down the stairs and out the door with them.

  24. LANshark Says:

    Free Devin Culp!

  25. D-Rok Says:

    OK, I just…must…

So Joe, the Bucs are sniffing tight ends hoping to get lucky with a guy?

    ROFL (Please don’t delete me).

  26. Bucs Guy Says:

No Sadiq in the 1st rd. Defense in the 1st, followed by defense in the 2nd with another serving of defense in the 3rd. Then maybe the Bucs can consider O.

If the Bucs trade back in the 1st and get at least 2 extra picks, then you could consider O in the 3rd rd.

  27. Stanglassman Says:

His scout range is crazy some say 65th pick others say 220th. In January everyone was picking him up as the Bucs 7th round mock pick. Now it’s lucky if he’s still there at pick 3. I don’t think he will be there when the Bucs 1st pick (4th round) day 3. If the Bucs trade back from their first pick he’s the kinda guy you use that extra late 3rd on.

  28. Smoke Porterhouse Says:

Of course, the Bucs would be focused on one of the LEAST important positions on the football field, even after giving Mr. Average Otton $30 million.

  29. Joe Says:

So Joe you did not enjoy watching Magic against Bird

Absolutely loved it. That was when basketball was basketball. It’s a far different game now. Joe gave up on it long time ago.

  30. Saskbucs Says:

Joe says “probably too many for a rookie or two to make a significant difference right away.”

Key word being probably. Don’t know unless you try to find out.

If Otton wasn’t resigned at $10 per, I would absolutely be on board. If it’s an offensive pick give me an OL. Extra security for Baker and our run game.

There are plenty of mouths to feed on offense that can keep DCs up at night if Zac is worth his salt. Godwin, Emeka, JMac, Otton, Bucky, Kenny G…. I’m fine sending the ball their way, although Otton sparingly so it doesn’t end up in our endzone.

  31. PLawson Says:

Defense should be the priority. If you have a good defense you’re in every game. Besides, Otton is damn good and Culp shows promise.
