BSPN: High Chances Michael Trigg Drafted By Bucs

Baylor TE Michael Trigg.
First, it was Kenyon Sadiq. Now it’s Michael Trigg.
For months, “this Joe’s” preference was (if possible) for the Bucs to draft an inside linebacker at No. 15 and then on the second day of the draft, for the Bucs to draft Baylor tight end Michael Trigg. (The other Joe is drooling to draft an edge rusher.)
Tampa native Trigg may not be so much a blocking tight end but he does stretch the field and he is a matchup nightmare for linebackers and defensive backs.
It seems the analytics mice at BSPN are thinking the same way: a stretch-the-field tight end would be a bonus for the Bucs.
BSPN has a “draft predictor” that gives a percentage likelihood that a player could be drafted by a team. It seems the numberscrunchers at BSPN believe Trigg, 6-4, 240, is a third-round pick. and if Trigg lasts to the third round, the Bucs have the best percentage of drafting Trigg at No. 77, until the Patriots are on the clock at No. 95.
Trigg, per BSPN, has an 83 percent chance of being on the board when the Bucs are on the clock in the Round 3.
New Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson liked to run a lot of two-tight-end sets in Atlanta. With an inline tight end like Cade Otton and a stretch-the-field beast like Trigg, now you’re cooking with gas. On offense.

“a stretch-the-field tight end would be a bonus for the Bucs.” I’m not opposed to Trigg on the second day of the draft but dang…can’t Culp be that guy under Zac Robinson’s two TE preference. You know…save a draft pick for the D because the Bucs already have “Trigg.”

Culp has shown he can stretch the field in the limited opportunities he’s gotten, and we have a lot more needs on defense this year.

Switching Culp to Receiver seems reasonable, but it’s not likely to work at this point. The time to do so would have been when he was in High School or the Freshman year of college.
The NFL is a tough place to switch positions. Remember Goedecke’s first year at guard? Barton played some center at Duke, but the adjustment hasn’t gone all that well.
Wide receiver is quite ab it different than TE – even a “Move” TE.
Instead of trying to make him into something that he has never been, just go get someone who has always played the position, and played it well. It’s not a wasted pcik if you get a quality producer who will fit in quickly.

Trigg is slow like Otton 4.6 to 4.7-Prefer a speedball like Sadiq at 4.3 who can take the top off the defense.

BSPN (and many others) should be required to show documented proof of at least a minimum amount of research on the team. Jason is probably loving it though. Makes it much easier for him to get some trade partners if anyone is insane enough to buy this stuff.

Joe is pro-Devin Culp, but he’s no Michael Trigg.
Trigg can outmuscle a linebacker for a ball. Culp isn’t nearly that physical.

I don’t believe TE is a high priority of the Bucs
At least it shouldn’t be a higher priority over CB,ILB, DT, OLB, G
I understand Zac loves the 12 Personnel, but it’s just a smoke screen
I doubt if Licht can trade down from 15, so we have to be smart with the picks
If the Bucs are really serious about fixing the defense
Then the first 4 picks should be defensive players

I’d like center from Indiana in the 3rd, move Barton to guard. It’s about time the Bucs drafted a true center.

They’re about the same height and similar weight, Culp & Trigg. Not sure how the hands comparison goes. Seems like Trigg might have better hands.
Trig didn’t run the 40 at the combine or any pro day, but he did the vertical testing andalso has freakishly long arms, so that probably helped us draft stock.
I’m in the camp that says use culp more because I would put money on the fact that he is much faster than Trigg. I feel like Trigg would have run the 40 if the time would have been astounding. He probably had some private 40 testing and saw the numbers wouldn’t help his draft stock but maybe hurt it. I think most of his production comes from the fact that he’s long with long arms and fairly physical with good vertical skills where he can win jump balls but he won’t leave anybody behind.
Going out on a limb here and betting neither of them are much in the blocking category.
Let’s see what Culp and I can do out there with aore TE focused OC and let’s use our pick on a OG if we’re going to draft any offensive player.

We have a stretch the field TE. Bowles wont let him on the field because he isnt a run blocker.
Kinda like how Bowles wont let pass rushers on the field because they arent run stoppers.
Theres a bottle neck on this team that the assistant coaches can’t get past even if they want to use a guy.

Charlie Woerner started 13 games at TE, Kyle Pitts started 17 games
Pitts had 118 targets, Woerner had 9 targets
I really didn’t see any benefits from the 12 Personnel, not in the passing game
The Falcons didn’t have a 1,000 yards receiver, because it was too conservative
I believe that was a problem with Ike Hillard( WR Coach) and Raheem
And that problem led to Ike Hillard getting fired, and Ray Ray McCloud walking out
The believe the Falcons offensive players hated the 12 Personnel
That’s problem why they gave Zac a low grade

Another day, another projected draft target of the Bucs. All these projections are wrong. The Bucs are going to select Someone. Someone is the most versatile player in the draft. Need a edge rusher, Someone is your guy. Need a cornerback, Someone fits the bill. Bake up QB, you can’t go wrong with Someone. Put your money on it, the Bucs are going to draft Someone.

I can’t understand an offensive pick on the first three rounds, when there are so many holes on D, we need LB, Edge, DL, CB and probably one more safety!!!
And we are thinking about a TE?????

We have Culp on a rookie deal and Payne to block. Not a need, move on and focus on DL and CB
