Best Players Available

April 25th, 2026

Michael Trigg still out there.

As is the case with Day 3 of the draft, the pickins are slim.

While a handful of good players have slipped and are still on the board, the vast majority remaining are backups and special teams dudes.

The name that jumps off to Joe is cornerback Jermod McCoy of Tennessee. It’s clear that the guy is damaged goods since he hasn’t played since 2024. However, in the fourth round, Joe would take a shot with McCoy

If he needs surgery again, OK. Get him ready for 2027. At this price, it is worth the wager.

Pitt linebacker Kyle Louis is still out there, quick as can be who is great at blitzing and he’s fundamentally sound. Former NFL suit Louis Riddick has been screaming for weeks that Louis is the next Derrick Brooks.

Why is Louis not worth the gamble in the fourth round?

Interior offensive lineman Sam Hecht from Kansas State is there. Joe is sorry and doesn’t want to insult anyone, but the backup guards the Bucs had last year were atrocious. Surely Licht can do better. Febechi Nwaiwu out of Oklahoma is a Jason Licht kind of guy.

Penn State edge rusher Dani Dennis-Sutton is a guy that can play Bucs coach Todd Bowles’ defense. He wouldn’t be a bad addition.

Baylor tight end and Tampa native Michael Trigg is also out there. He is a matchup nightmare.

Just some players Joe thinks could have an impact for the Bucs. But after those, it’s dart-throwing time when you’re drafting dudes who are first cousins to your offensive line coach.

Trigg is a nightmare but not to matchups. He’s Keon Coleman, if you just watch his highlights you think he’s a star but he disappears for the other 80% of his snaps. Big character guy too, he’s hated at 2 schools. Doesn’t fit Lichts “No assholes” rule

  2. Scott Says:

Hoping to see some O line help and some more d linemen. Cornerback or TE would be great too.

  3. Lakeland Says:

South Carolina DB Jalon Kilgore is still on the board.

All of the mock drafts had him going in the 2nd round
    I don’t know why he’s still available

  4. Cometowin2 Says:

Louis could make up for and complement the Trotter pick. Can he cover???

  5. yucboy Says:

Keionte Scott or Malik Muhammed should be 4th round Pick. Jermod McCoy with one of the 5th rounders if they dont get a DB in the 4th

  6. Lakeland Says:

    Will Lee Texas A&M CB

  7. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

IOL would be my choice. That to me is still a big need position.

In the 4th rd we can get a good backup (maybe even a potential starter) for IOL. Whereas, I doubt we can fill other need areas with a starter in the 4th rd, such as CB or IDL.

As far as using the 4th rd in selecting McCoy for 2027, good idea, but can we afford to use that pick when we still have so many needs?

  8. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“South Carolina DB Jalon Kilgore is still on the board.”

    Another $LB candidate.

  9. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

    @4
    RB Mike Washington!

  10. 28.3.Evans Says:

I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again!

A+ for Licht and Bowles for this draft. Can’t think of a better duo!

  11. Scott Says:

Big DL Jackson from FSU and the Kancey like Halton still out there

  12. Fanofdabucs Says:

Kyle Louis would be a fantastic pick. The guy is a player maker. Hes the best cover Lber in the draft and could play safety.

Surprised Washington is still there. RB isnt a need, but he’s really good.

I would 100% take McCoy. Some of these CBs already drafted don’t pan out because of lack of talent. McCoy might be the most talented CB in the draft. Unfortunate that he may have to have his knee cleaned up. The reality is CBs usually take 1 yr or 2 to develop so, clean up the knee and let him learn. Maybe by mid season the knee is good to go.

Adding a guard is never a bad idea.

  13. BigZ Says:

No more project players. Trigg is a charcter nightmare.

  14. FortMyersDave Says:

Having the additional 5th round pick should allow Jason to move up in the 4th from where they are now or to get 2 picks in the 4th if the braintrust has identified 2 players they would like but will not stay on the board until picks 15 and 20 in the 5th round. Still need a CB, OL depth, perhaps a TE and that big kid from Tallahassee, defensive lineman Jackson is still on the board. I just hope Jason does not select a punter in the later rounds, you never know if there is a diamond in the rough, look at Tez Johnson last year. Go Bucs!

  15. Lt. Dan Says:

Pass on Trigg and draft another position of need with special teams in mind. Coach up and use Devin Culp properly.

  16. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Joe

All of the players you mentioned would be great 4th round picks IMO…

    – McCoy
    – Trigg
    – Louis
    – Hecht

Would all be acceptable picks within areas of need.

I believe the Bucs will be signing another FA CB after the draft. Look at the list – there are several very solid CBs still available…

  17. 3.28.Evans Says:

My dyslexic cousin doesn’t know the difference between a head coach and a head case, but no matter.

What would be more relevant is the players left with the least fit for the Bucs. That’s who Jason will be drafting. And that way no one can blame Bowls because they already sucked.

  18. Geno712 Says:

I like the Mike Robinson call by some. He is much more the hammer that Robinson had with Tyler Algiers in Atlanta.

He actually by potential is a better fit for that role than Sean Tucker. Then if no injuries we would cut Tucker and his 3.5 million salary.

  19. Havingfitz Says:

I like Bains and Hurst picks. Trotter I’ll assume Bucs know better than the majority wrt passing on CJ Allen. Mock draft I did this morning shows plenty good players still available.

    Go Bucs!

    Overall Draft Grade: A-
    15. Rueben Bain Jr. EDGE Miami A+
    46. Josiah Trotter LB Missouri C+
    84. Ted Hurst WR Georgia State A
    116. Gracen Halton DT Oklahoma A+
    156. (T) Beau Stephens OG Iowa A
    160. Harold Perkins Jr. LB LSU B
    195. Cade Klubnik QB Clemson B+
    214. (T) Andre Fuller CB Toledo C-

  20. Defense Rules Says:

DT & CB would be my Rnd 4 & 5 choices IF there’s anyone left worth a hoot by the time we pick. We’ve already missed out on the cream of this crop.

Bucs lose Vea for any extended period of time (like in 2020) and we’ll be toast.

Bucs lose any one of our 3 starting CBs for an extended period of time and we’ll also be toast.

Our DEPTH in certain position groups once again sucks. We saw first-hand last year what results in that situation when the injury bug hits. Joe & most JBFers chastised Bowles for the crappy defense last season (and he was certainly partially at fault), but the bigger issue was marginal TALENT in several starting positions AND LACK OF DEPTH to compensate for injuries. We’ve gotten ‘tougher & nastier’ in a couple defensive position groups, but we still need better TALENT and better DEPTH.

  21. MadMax Says:

Lee 3, or Devon Marshall for CB…
still like Trigg, maybe hes there with a 5th

    DT Landon Robinson 5th
    G Anez Cooper
Cade Klubnik for a bu QB in waiting (he was once projected to be a 1st overall)

  22. Bojim Says:

    Why is Trigg still there?

  23. Hawk Says:

The two 5th round picks should be focused on special teams. That was atrocious last year and needs MAJOR improvement.

  24. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    “Why is Trigg still there?”

He’s got skipping practice, fighting teammates, arguing with coaches, and battling injuries throughout his career while being undersized at a position that kind of requires being big and strong, all on his resume.

    That’s why.

  25. MadMax Says:

oh, i didnt know that about Trigg….uh oh, locker room problem…just needs a good butt whoopin maybe 3 to set him straight…i dont know, if its that bad then pass.

  26. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

Louis vote here. Time will tell, but I think Licht overvalued Trotter while Allen could have been taken taken. The team is still thin at ILB, so if they can snag Louis in the 4th or 5th I’ll be happier with the LB needs being addressed than I was yesterday.

  27. Joe Says:

    Can he cover???

    Oh… yes!

  28. KABucs Says:

Allen seemed like the pick over Trotter… but who am I to really know.
Our drafting team has a pretty good track record and Rodriguez got taken ahead of us (Miami got revenge on us because after their OT pick, they had regrets not taking Bain. LOL UM fans let that staff have it!!). My guess is if Rodriguez is available, we take him, and I’ll never know if the Bucs attempted to trade up. You got to find a partner.
I’ll definitely give Trotter a chance, I like that he thumps people.

    McCoy gone… oh well.

  29. 3.28.Evans Says:

Yes, Bowelslight drafted the next KJ Britt. Awesome. At least they got a division 3 receiver next. This is almost as exciting as reading ancient Aramaic.

  30. Mveal2006 Says:

Im getting annoyed at Joe tekegraphing the bucs interest on a particular player at ol. The league now has a spider software to know our thinking and puts it in their misaic and we cant get the guys we need.

Wr they hide much better. Db somewhat in between. Anywhere else we arent so good anyway so I dont care.

Not personal Joe. The world is changing and has new tools
