“Selfless, Not Selfish”

March 4th, 2026

Doesn’t sound like Mike.

Thanks to intel from Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, we recently learned of demands Bucs free agent wide receiver Mike Evans has for his 2026 team next week when the free agency dinner bell rings on Wednesday.

Or, are those really Evans’ demands?

(Yes, legal tampering begins on Monday. That’s when the fun begins, but that’s not the start of the league year, which is Wednesday. You don’t go to New Year’s Eve parties and blow off fireworks and try to tongue strange, drunken women on Dec. 29, do you?)

Just a couple of days before ESPN published Fowler’s story, Evans’ agent, Deryk Gilmore, a known fearmonger, took to the airwaves of WDAE-AM 620/WDAE-FM 95.7, and spread all sorts of bullsh!t about why Evans may bolt the Bucs.

Included in his dubious claims was Evans, born and raised in Galveston and is a resident of the Houston suburbs, — who also chooses to work out with his trainer outside in the brutal South Texas sun — may bolt the Bucs because of the weather.

Also, Gilmore said that he was opening up Evans’ potential search for a new NFL home to all 32 teams.

Then, Fowler released Evans’ (?) demands, which included a prerequisite to play with a top-shelf quarterback and a team with a legitimate shot to win the Super Bowl.

That wouldn’t exactly include 32 teams, would it?

Well, WDAE-AM 620/WDAE-FM 95.7 program director and host Nick Wize took to his station’s airwaves and said he smells a rat. The list of demands Evans allegedly issued, Wize stated, doesn’t sound remotely like Evans’ words.

In the list of demands, Evans allegedly wants a high number of targets guaranteed. Wize simply does not believe that comes straight from Evans.

“There is just no way in the world I can see Mike Evans saying this,” Wize said. “Throughout Mike’s career, has he ever sounded like a guy that would demand [this]?

“He is the anomaly when it comes to wide receivers. And that’s what’s so great about Tampa Bay. Chris Godwin’s the same way. They’re all selfless, not selfish, like a lot of the wide receivers in this league.

“Now, if you told me [one of] the top 10 wide receivers in the NFL had said this, [demanding a] high volume of touches — if Justin Jefferson or Ja’Marr Chase, you know, those guys had said this, or George Pickens or A.J. Brown? I would be like, ‘Yeah, that was probably [their] demand.”

In other words, Wize believes just what Joe typed up: It’s nothing more than Gilmore trying to squeeze Team Glazer to cough up more loot.

Shoot, Joe wouldn’t be surprised if Evans didn’t even know Gilmore demanded a number of touches per game in order for Evans to agree to a contract.

This Agent speak is a joke. Plain and simple if ME is truly Greedy at heart he will leave. If he is loyal and all that tear shedding between him and Jason Licht was legit-he will stay. This is all about Money and being Greedy. If he wants to be a money $whore-let him leave and Thanks for the memories. He would love the Buffalo winters with those Hammy’s of his. And if he wants to win another Super Bowl we all know what the likelihood of that is in that Snakebit town. Go Bucs!!

Wow breaking news! A NFL agent stretching the truth to get his client the best deal he can.

  3. Gofortheface30 Says:

Well, it’s also very naive to assume that wouldn’t want to play with a quarterback like Josh Allen, be on a much much better team, get more targets, and be th reason you took perennially good team (and I’m not talking 9-8 every year) over the top. I see fans saying nawwww the weather is terrible, his family is rooted here. Ohhhh please, that’s denial and it would be very weak if those are the driving forces behind a decision. Jerry Rice is arguably the greatest football player that ever lived. He played in another jersey. Joe Montana. Tom Brady. Etc etc ETC CETERA. Do not ever think we are entitled have Evans here forever and ever. Business is business

  5. Ash Says:

His agent isn’t out there saying Evans wants top wide receiver money which he has before he saying Evans wants to be on a contending teams it sounds like desperation around here. It wasn’t a ploy last time he was considering leaving the bucs he has both feet out the door this time Evans at any time can refute what his agent is saying he hasn’t there is mutual interest from four or five times that meet his criteria it isn’t loyalty grow up this is a business it’s about legacy.

ME wants off Todd’s sinking ship.
I think he likes his offensive teammates but knows Todd’s defensive is going to sh!t the bed and ruin his remaining time in the NFL.

The best agents are the ones that make you the most money. That’s rule #1

That lets the Bucs out…he is just try to weasle more money out of Li cht

  10. Slacker Says:

This next month could get pretty crazy in desperation as Bowles knows hes coaching for his life.

This offseason will really show Licht’s ability. There needs to be a Plan B, B-, C and D. He knows the salary cap situation, he knows the holes he needs to fill. Now let’s go out and execute that strategy. If not, we’ll be sitting with a 15th pick in the 2027 draft.

The media frenzy is non stop. And it will never stop. They’re all been smitten with the 💰 money bug…the almighty money influenza virus.

  13. Ben Says:

Deryk Gilmore sounds concussed. Listening to him speak is painful, I often wonder how guys like this can be successful when they can barely arcticulate or speak properly. Unless this guy is a complete snake and slithers his way into making money.

“It’s nothing more than Gilmore trying to squeeze Team Glazer to cough up more loot.”

It’s like Mikes’ agent is trying to sell someone who’s starving a meal, you don’t have to do all this performative stuff man, just tell me the price.

Though, I would say, this pitch is probably more for the 31 other teams excluding the Bucs just so the agent can come back and set the price here.

  15. bakerfan Says:

Maybe teams should demand that Evans give them 17 games of play for 17games of pay.
