Mike Evans’ Agent Quickly Contradicts Himself

March 2nd, 2026

Demands surface.

The stench in the air reminds Joe of driving through the dairy fields of a Midwest countryside on a warm, humid summer night when the farmers were just finished spreading sh!t.

It’s thick out there, boys and girls.

Known fearmonger, Mike Evans’ agent Deryk Gilmore, just got caught talking out of both sides of his mouth.

Last week, appearing on WDAE-AM 620 -FM 95.7, Gilmore made it clear Evans, who is expected to be a free agent next week when the free agency dinner bell rings, “wants to look at all 32 teams.” You know, “Show me the money!”

So either Gilmore was flat out lying to Bucs fans on the radio or he is flat out lying to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Apparently, Gilmore provided Fowler with a list of criteria a team must meet for Evans to consider playing it for next year. Shockingly (sarcasm alert), 32 teams do not meet the requirements. Not even close.

Per Fowler, here are the prerequisites:

* Evans wants a quarterback he believes in.

* Team has a shot at a Super Bowl.

* Team has a top-shelf offensive coordinator.

* Wants a promise for a lot of targets.

As Joe has stated before, Gilmore is a bad liar. Let’s break these demands down in relation to Evans and the Bucs.

Quarterback

It seems Evans is tight with Baker Mayfield. So Joe doesn’t think Mayfield is an issue. Remember, until Evans broke his collarbone, he had no trouble racking up yards with Mayfield throwing him the ball.

Super Bowl Shot

Uh, oh. This is very tricky. Joe cannot say with a straight face the Bucs are a Super Bowl contender. The way the defense played last year and how the offense collapsed in the second half, even after it got healthier, Joe isn’t 100 percent confident the Bucs are NFC South contenders.

After seeing how Evans reacted in the tunnel after the choke job against Atlanta at home, Joe thinks the Bucs would have to give a helluva sales pitch to make him think the Bucs are a Super Bowl contender.

Offensive Coordinator

Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht said at the combine last week that going back to “Liam’s offense” would be “beneficial” to certain Bucs players. Was Licht suggesting Evans would be a beneficiary with Zac Robinson, a Sean McVay disciple like Liam Coen, coming to town to run the offense?

Targets

This is another area where Joe thinks Gilmore is full of it. No, Evans wouldn’t get the same targets with the Bucs that he would if he played for the Chiefs or Bills. But guess what? He also won’t get double- or triple-covered with the Bucs as he would with the Chiefs or the Bills.

Again, Gilmore is a fearmonger. He has conned people before Evans had one foot out the door. He’s trying to play people again.

The fact Gilmore patently lied within a span of five days about what his client seeks should be a big tip off for Bucs fans that Gilmore is trying to shake down the Bucs for more Team Glazer loot.

That’s what agents do: Beg and lie to try to get the best deal for their clients and, indirectly, a cut for themselves.

Who gives you a better path to the super bowl maholmes or mayfield? Who do you trust more maholmes or mayfield? Do i really need to answer that question. I think Evans signs with the chiefs for a 2 year deal but then again maybe im wrong.

  2. sethery Says:

man… evans in chiefs gear would be soul crushing to bucs fans.

  3. Hodad Says:

I’m tired of both Evans, and the David saga at this point. Mike still has some big play ability, but at this stage of his career let him walk. Think he won’t miss time with hammy issues again this season? You’re dreaming if you think he won’t. David deciding if he comes back? Crazy the Bucs are welcoming him back, he’s washed. They’re not going to get better resigning aging players who helped us to a 8-9 record.

  4. buc4evr Says:

Evans is probably in his last year or two so he is going for the cash. I can’t blame him. There is no way this team is going to the SB with Bowles and this total disaster of a defense. I really don’t expect Licht to do anything different this year. I think he said that. So another bad draft and sleeping on FAs that could help the defense. Bye Mike, it’s been real.

  5. Kenton Smith Says:

Ander. In the last 3 years in the NFL Baker has played all 51 games. Mahomes has played 46 games. The wussy. He’s thrown 95 TDS compared to 75 for wussy Mahomes. He’s thrown for way more yards the past 3 years. Baker has a QB rating over 5 points higher than Patrick the last 3 years. Imagine if Mike would have caught all the bombs Baker stuck right in his hands that he instead dropped. Yes, Baker has thrown 37 picks in 3 years and Patrick has only thrown 36. Baker played 5 more games so he’s better there, too. Baker is a better QB than Mahomes is, but the Kansas City Chiefs have been a far better team than the Buccaneers. That’s not true anymore.

  6. Leighroy Says:

So is Gilmore not evaluating all 32 teams against this criteria? Just because some or many don’t pass the test doesn’t mean the teams weren’t looked at. Pretty worked up over nothing it seems here

  7. Wayne Kerr Says:

    Todd Bowles or Andy Reid

I think the choice is easy

  8. garro Says:

You forgot his weather BS from th eother day Joe. This dude is licensed agent? Laughable…

    Go Bucs!

  9. Defense Rules Says:

Joe … ‘And honestly, that’s what agents do: Beg and lie to try to get the best deal for their clients, and indirectly, a cut for themselves.’

Nice bottom line Joe. Pretty much tells me though that ‘Hey, agents lie, which you all know, but here’s a story about it anyway’.

Billy Shakespeare (and Leighroy) was right … ‘Much adoo about nothing’.

  10. Bowles Wasn't Held Accountable Says:

A team that has finished under .500 in 2 of the last 4 years, and 1 game over in one of the others, with a coach who has proven he can’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag, shouldn’t be (and is not) a Super Bowl contender.

  11. Gofortheface30 Says:

“Double or triple covered.” Ohhhh please, as if Justin Jefferson and Pula etc are singled. It’s all about play design and most importantly – how diverse is a receivers route tree. Now…I know these days real routes and real schemes are fewer and far between with stupid RPO’s to accommodate low iq running qbs and 8 thousand flat routes and bubble screens called every game, but Mike evens has never had close to 100 catches. He’s never been a volume guy. His strength is intermediate to deep routes, and when he catches a 20 yard sideline route he then runs to the sideline because I think he’s gravely injured or something and I fall for it every-single-time. ANY-way you think Andy Reid wouldn’t find a way to get him 100 catches for the first time in his life? He would be used in ways with Mahomes that he would never be used. Guarantee that is a consideration for Evans whether Bucs fans want to admit it or not

  12. Kenton Smith Says:

The stench in the air of which you speak Joe wafting over Midwest country dairy fields should say “warm, humid spring night when the farmers had just finished spreading shlt”. They fertilize when the pasture land is breaking dormancy in the spring time. Other than that it was perfect. I love that smell. Thanks for that.

  13. Ben Says:

JL knows this, which is why they are strategically saying publicly that he has earned the right to test FA and not panicking, while in the same breath stating that they want him back.

The only reason why I think things may have changed recently is Jenna Laine posted on Thursdsy that the Bucs are aggressively trying to resign Mike. Maybe the two sides are far apart and Gilmore is taking the next steps?

  14. Muscle Hampster Says:

There’s only a limited number of targets you can get when you take every other play off. Love Mike and want him back, but he’s not always on the field, as he shouldn’t be because of his age and hamstring health. So I don’t think this guarantee target thing is legit at all

  15. lambchop Says:

Whatever the agent is doing, there will be teams who will pay if the Bucs don’t. That doesn’t change.

  16. Obvious Says:

Another Bucs site is claiming it’s not about targets but about yardage as ME wants an opportunity to finish top 10 of all time and secure a first ballot HOF entry. Who knows.

If the legit shot at a Super Bowl is number one on the list, I don’t think there’s any shot he’s here. I would see chargers, 9ers and buffalo as a better landing spot. Evans isn’t stupid. He knows the ceiling here under this leadership.

But I could just as easily see finishing his career here as his number one priority.

  17. Slacker Says:

U gotta be on the field to get yardage and targets, so I guess he needs to stay healthy. Secondly the yards and targets wont be an issue in Tampa as they will be throwing a lot playing from behind and in garbage time as bowles defense collapses weekly

  18. Joe Says:

They fertilize when the pasture land is breaking dormancy in the spring time.

Joe very much remembers the last time he smelled that smell. It was the dead of summer.

  19. ModHairKen Says:

Very few elite players play their entire career in one place.

    Not Emmitt.

    Not Rice.

    Not Brady.

Does something like that matter? To me it does.

If the Bucs want to re-enter the SB discussion, trade for Maxx and sign a top ILB.

  20. Dom Says:

All the teams I have previously listed as good fits (49ers, Chargers, Pats, and Seahawks) all are better fits for Mike with this criteria. I think he’s gone

  21. Jw94buc Says:

    Bucs or bills
I might revoke Evans hall of fame and Ring of honor inductions if he goes to the chiefs lol jkjk

  22. 813bucboi Says:

folks make me laugh when they post bakers stats from the last 3 years lol….

    they purposely omit WINS!!!!!

    #EXCUSES!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  23. Kenton Smith Says:

813 bucboi. 27 regular season wins. Considering the defense he’s been working with I don’t reckon another QB in the league could have pulled that off.

  24. LynchMob50 Says:

For those who choose to believe the line of thought that Robinson is going to be the next Coen, allow me to enlighten you.

The Falcons were also 8-9 last season in the putrid NFC South.

That was with a vastly superior running game and a way better defensive scheme than the Bowles dumpster fire.

Now not only is Robinson going to have a lesser RB room, he is saddled with the weight of a defense that he picked apart with a washed up QB.

ME needs to go elsewhere and sidestep this impending land mine that goes off in September.

  25. Scotty Mack Says:

The Bills are no more of a Superbowl contender than the Bucs. Probably a worse one. Josh Allen has never won a conference championsip. Plus, the Bills have an entirely new coaching staff. Not sure that screams Superbowl, let alone contender.

His agent’s list doesn’t go together. I don’t know of any team that is a contender where Evans is going to get the lion’s share of targets. The contenders already have either an elite X or a couple other receivers good enough to take targets away from Evans. The one exception to that is the Patriots and nobody even mentions them.

  26. Crazyhorse54 Says:

The Atlanta game broke Evans’ back. He’s seen enough of Bowles pathetic defense 3rd and 24???? OMG!!! Quite an indictment of TB’s defense. Think on that, Bucs fans. That is a vote of NO CONFIDENCE!!!
This is TB and JL’s prove it year. Either the will or they will not.

  27. Allen Lofton Says:

Gilmore is no different than Roger Goodell. They’re driven by 💰 Relationships are not a part of the equation if it’s only one-sided. Neither of these guys understand that. Championships are won as a team. Do your job and everyone wins.

  28. Winny Testaverde Says:

Agent Happy Gilmore is looking for one last, big payday. The Bucs ain’t it. And that’s ok…this may be the perfect time to part ways. It may even lead to a compensatory pick down the road. Lots of miles on those twitchy hamstrings.

  29. HeavyE Says:

M1K3, doesn’t believe in our little leprechaun, of a QB….that’s what it comes down to!!!! This QB is ruining this team!!!!

  30. Will Says:

Mike Evan’s is a class act. If he stays or goes I wish him the best. Respect, and mic drop.
