Logan Hall Lands Fat Contract From The Texans

March 10th, 2026

One of the best defenses in the NFL has come calling for Buccaneers 2022 second-round draft pick Logan Hall.

Hall got paid today, per Tom Pelissero of NFL media, bagging a two-year deal from the Houston Texans at about $7 million per year.

Yes, the Texans and their defense-first head coach, who runs a truly suffocating unit, wanted Hall less than 36 hours into free agency.

Joe wonders what the growing group of Jason Licht bashers thinks about this development. And Joe is not being sarcastic.

Hall played his college ball for the University of Houston, so he gets a bit of a homecoming.

Who will replace Hall in Tampa? He’s certainly replaceable, but he did eat 610 snaps last season.

Joe would not bark if the Bucs drafted Hall’s replacement next month. The Bucs could sure use a nastier more physical presence on their defensive line.

The “light finally came on” for Hall during the 2024 season but it dimmed in 2025. Joe wishes Hall well.

    May their Center be safe

  2. Mike S Says:

Never really did much besides blow Ryan Jensens knee out in practice. Overrated and got backup money

  3. BigZ Says:

Another dud draft pick. Lots of 2 and 3s not working out..

Glad ding dong JL didnt resign him. Big guy who plays small.

  4. kgh4life Says:

With the Texans dline as good as they are, maybe Hall will play well.

  5. OR Buc Says:

I think it’s quite possible that Bowles impedes pass rushers development by making them learn to stuff the run and play coverage too often.

  6. Simeon4HOF Says:

Funny how Crosby back out there and Trey of course
But we still must draft the best Edge available at 15

  7. Rod Stewart Says:

He will play well in a defense that doesn’t involve Todd Bowles

  8. Winny Testaverde Says:

Glad you asked Joe…about your idol/ring of honor GM of choice. Hall was traded back for…the pick he gave up was Devin Lloyd.

    I thought I read 2 year, 7 million ( total ). If it’s 7 million per season…the Texans bid against themselves.

  9. BPBucsfan Says:

    @RodStewart- exactly 💯 spot on.

  10. Lakeland Says:

Logan Hall was a good player for the Bucs
He did his job, he was always in position

But most fans complain about his lack of sacks
But his primary assignment was not about sacks
    He’s not a Edge Rusher, he’s a 3-4 DE
He comes off the field in obvious passing situations

He’s happy, he’s back home in Houston
He’s playing next to 2 of the Best Edge Rushers in the NFL

    Congratulations

  11. BPBucsfan Says:

Don’t worry, we have all 7 draft picks for our draft guru to work his magic.

  12. LynchMob50 Says:

Watch the Texans turn him into a good player.

Getting away from the Bowles Swiss cheese scheme is a dream come true.

    Licht truly has no clue.

    Perfect match for Bowels.

  13. Outrigger Says:

Max Crosby is back on the trading block

  14. Brooklynbuc Says:

    @LynchMob50…so true

  15. OR Buc Says:

I actually think the lack of signings by Bucs today was to plan for the potential of a fat contract with Trey. But now the Ravens are back on the market, dammit.

  16. Lakeland Says:

I read a report that the Texans are signing Hall for 2 years $7 million

If that’s true, then the Bucs should have resigned him

  17. BucsFan81 Says:

He will probably turn into a pro bowl player with them. Toilet Bowles couldn’t develop an edge rusher if his life depended on it.

  18. Will Says:

    Good for him.

  19. BuxfaninTX Says:

Evans, Hall, Bridgewater, Dean.. Do the veterans know something?

  20. Proudbucfan Says:

Licht is going to sit on his hands. The Bucs are done in free agency. 6-11 season and the Licht Bowles are fired. Worst case scenario they both are retained and the angry fans have to waste another year.

  21. JustOneGame Says:

6-11 lol have you seen the Bucs opponents this season. At this rate they’ll be lucky to win 3 games

  22. Lakeland Says:

Licht will probably go dumpster diving Thursday or Friday

Sign 3-4 bums for the players minimum
Then beat on his chest like he’s Tarzan

  23. Winny Testaverde Says:

It’s looking more and more like Licht, Bowles and Mayfield are likely in their last voyage on the Buc ship. Mayfield will likely be a Ram next season at this rate.

Of course there’s always the chance Licht extends Mayfield before opening weekend. I don’t think he should for the record.

  24. Slacker Says:

For a organization that’s dying and a coach that is on very thin ice, I figured they’d try anything to save his job. But they did the complete opposite. May as well have just canned him already and saved the inevitable. Congrats to Evans for seeing the writing on the wall and making the best of his last yrs in the league.

  25. dmatt Says:

Thank u Thank u Thank u. Good riddance of a big piece of dead weight, he’s a dud. Folks said JTS would play better after he left for the Browns in 2025, he didn’t pan out and didn’t finish the 2025 season therefore he was traded to the Bears. He too, is a dud. I’m fine with all the players who found a new home except Evans. I was so glad we let JDean go, he’s a dud. Parrish n Morrison will step up n ball out. If we don’t make a move for a playmaker defensive end in FA, Bowles n Litch days are doom.

  26. When is enough enough! Says:

Good riddance. Clear out all the dead weight.

  27. BigBoiBuc Says:

    Chenel now gone
Kaden Ellis now gone ( and in the division)
    WTH are we waiting on?????????

  28. Miller5252 Says:

Let’s hope we got a plan to fill spots on the roster. Yeah, Hall isn’t very good, but he has gotten better each year and he’s a depth piece. If we aint signing people out depth isn’t gonna look very good on a D line thats already not very good.

For me Hall will always be the guy that ruined Jensen’s career and really hurt Brady’s last year. With Jensen down, Brady spent his last year throwing quick balls or throw aways because without Jensen the O Lone completely fell apart

  29. RagingBrisket Says:

Another Licht fail. The most overrated GM in football. Overrated mostly by the fanbase and local media. Rest of the league knows he’s a lightweight

  30. ChiBuc Says:

Joe wonders what the growing group of Jason Licht bashers thinks about this development.

I think what I’ve always thought about Licht. He’s a great head scout, but clearly he has no acumen to pitch a good coach (Coen) to his boss or to be a leader in any way, especially free agency. Look at the coaches he’s presided over, other than BA, who sold himself to Licht. He can’t even sell his very first pick on the only team he has played for. What is a GM if not a salesman? Get Sean Sullivan in there as GM and really shock the world. He already has the draft chops. And make DR the coach. A couple of laymen would be less embarrassing to watch than these overpaid fools

  31. SteveK Says:

    Money saved to pay Hendrickson!

  32. Leopold Stotch Says:

Like others sakd, the only notable thing this guy did was destroy Jensen’s knee and career. Won’t be missed.

  33. Guzzie55 Says:

I think they plan on starting E Roberts at DE

  34. Bucfan1988 Says:

    Crazy situation w Mad Max….

Dallas may renig on their offer of a 4th round draft pick for Green Bay’s edge rusher to pursue the Max Crosby sweepstakes….
    They had 2nd best offer – 1st & 2nd round picks…

That means Ravens may chase Hendricksen now and they got the $$ for him….

LICHT, DO SOMETHING HERE besides sitting on your hands…

  35. Bucfan1988 Says:

I bet you Texans move Logan Hall to 3-tech DT.
He’s got the size and that’s what he played in college.
Has good 1st step and boy will that work for that Texans line…

  36. LynchMob50 Says:

Really looking forward to the next podcast.

I hope the Joes and Ira match the energy and passion of the fan base.

Evans leaving only gets worse if they don’t fill defensive holes.

I’m serious when I say the ice is thinner under Licht and Bowles feet.

Could be very crazy if the season goes south quickly.

  37. Usfbucs Says:

    Logan Hall did his job.

  38. Bucfan1988 Says:

    Ok, so Jason Licht…..

If Dallas renigs on their offer of a 4th round draft pick to Packers for Rashan Gary to chase Mad Max sweepstakes again, MAKE THE SAME OFFER TO GREEN BAY!!!

Here’s the sack stats from Gary from 2021 to 2025
    2021 – 9.5 sacks
    2022 – 6 sacks
    2023 – 9 sacks
    2024 – 7.5 sacks
    2025 – 7.5 sacks

Greenbay plays 3/4 defense as well

This seems like a no-brainer to go get Rashan Gary!!!!

  39. Bucfan1988 Says:

    Gary for a 4th!!!

    Say it Licht!!!!

Then you take 1st round pic and move DOWN to grab Caleb Banks, the monster D-tackle from Florida Gators, and you pick back up that 4th rounder!!!!!!

I should be in the Bucs draft room 🤷🏻‍♂️
    Just saying…..

  40. HeartyDickerson Says:

What I find annoying is all the praise Licht got for ‘keeping the team competitive after the SB while the team restocked talent and saved up cap space’ to then be truly ready for another SB run.

The opposite is true. We’re further away from a SB than we’ve been in 6 years. Licht has been handing out $15M/yr contracts like candy, and we’re somehow less talented.

  41. Pickgrin Says:

So far – the Bucs have signed 2 FAs and “lost” 4 FAs.

If Tampa Bay can maintain that ratio of losing 2 more FAs than they sign – there will be 2 high compensatory picks awarded to the Bucs in the 2027 draft for the loss of Evans and Dean. Both will likely be 3rd rd picks. 4th at worst…..

  42. Aqualung Says:

As long as he doesn’t cripple the Texans whole offensive lins in OTAs, he’ll probably thrive under some real coaching.

  43. Tim Says:

Draft Kayden McDonald out of Ohio State.

  44. Rod Munch Says:

Interesting. Houston has one of the top defense in the NFL, and $7M isn’t fantastic money, but it’s not back-up money either.

    ———

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

But we shall see, they also might be waiting for the first wave to get done, then come in and try getting some value signings. That’s what I do in Madden – I never sign the big money guys – and I’ve owns thousands of Super Bowls over the years.

  46. KnoxvilleBuc Says:

Being honest, good for Hall and his future development playing on the D-Line. It will be either a make it or break it career really quick under Ryan’s tutelage.

  47. FortMyersDave Says:

I have never figured out how the compensatory picks Rod Munch and Pickgrin are referring to are dealt out. The Bucs have never gotten higher than a 4th rounder (Kwon Alexander) while other teams like the Cowboys always seem to get those 3rd rounders. It would be nice to be awarded to late day 2 picks but the Bucs will probably just miss the cut and get day 3 compensatory picks, if any at all.

  48. Hodad Says:

Hall, Dean, Evans, all moving to better teams. Good for them. They were able to find real head coaches, and winning teams. Wish we could.

  49. dmatt Says:

Will someone explain to me the reason we kept Otton and paid him money as if he’s a pro bowler? A player who allow a defender to just bully the ball away from him in two different games is not worth keeping. He’s another OJHoward, soft n passive.

  50. jcscycles Says:

Elijah Roberts outplayed Hall and is on a rookie contract. Hall never did work out. More money for us to spend.

  51. doolnutts Says:

Is no one going to highlight what Hall said on his way out LOLOL…

” I want to go somewhere where I can win the Super Bowl”

We are so cooked… Bowles has lost that team and morale seems low. If anyone thinks otherwise idk what to tell you.

I fear we will be set back for years for this. Someone needs to talk to Bruce Arians thank him for the Super Bowl but kick rocks. He got us in this mess, what a freaking disaster.

  52. Pewter Power Says:

Licht drafted a dude who took two years to gain weight and strength for the position then found his replacement who had to do the exact same thing😂 I hope he has a fantastic season so Glazers clean house

  53. MelvinJunior Says:

A $7-million contract on the second day of free agency in a very weak free agency class doesn’t prove SQUAT about LICKT. Definitely not with HIS friggin record without Tom Brady telling him what to do. I mean, it is HORRENDOUS.

  54. Will Says:

Do you think Bowels will make it the whole season.

    ————-

No one really knows how it works.

Also, I should say, I don’t think the Bucs get a 3rd, maybe a single 4th – probably a couple of 5th, like you said they tend to get lower than excepted picks, but no idea why since it’s based on a secret formula.

  56. Sam Says:

    Coaching and leadership is garbage.

  57. Ben Says:

Watch Hall go light it up in Houston

  58. oGBucsfan33510 Says:

It’s a 2 year contract for 7 mil total! Not 7 mil a year. Dude is getting next to nothing and it now just a backup.
