Dianna Russini: Trey Hendrickson Will Make A Decision Today

March 11th, 2026

Is today the day?

Joe has no idea if the Bucs are talking turkey with free agent edge rushing beast Trey Hendrickson or not. But several teams are, per a report Tuesday night.

And per Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Hendrickson, who lives in Ponta Vedre, went to high school at Warren Sapp High School in Apopka and to college at Florida Atlantic, will make a decision sometime today where he will play football this fall.

With the Bucs having a hole at edge rusher roughly half the size of the Grand Canyon, there is no good reason for the Bucs not to be pitching contract proposals to a guy who has had 74.5 sacks this decade and reportedly wants to play for Tampa Bay.

Since the cluster-eff of the non-trade of Maxx Crosby to the Crows in which Baltimore decommitted, logic suggests Baltimore is now in the mix for Hendrickson.

If the Bucs don’t land a true stud like Hendrickson who allegedly wants to play for the Bucs, and he would fill their most glaring need, Joe would be at a loss trying to figure out what the Bucs are trying to do this offseason.

    And the winner is…the Ravens!

  2. DS Says:

Won’t be the Bucs they already punted on the season and seems Tampa is no longer a winning destination team quit on Bowles and somewhere Licht is worshipping his draft picks

  3. Tom Edrington Says:

Free agents KNOW that Bowles is a dead-man walking…….wish Joe would quit with these “fantasies” — this guy is a part-time player — can’t defend the run…..

  4. Jw94buc Says:

Just bite the bullet and rebuild. I’m tired of this team hemorrhaging money for slop. Let him go to a contender. We need to focus on building a franchise that players willingly want to come and play. Not buy there loyalty to the buccaneers. If we were close to blushing for a championship I’d sing a different tune. I’m also not risking the bank to save Todd’s ass. Last chance for him to draft and develop talent. You lose the season. Godspeed. Someone else out there is hungry for an opportunity. Smells like a hope for the best, expect the worst type of season. Back to reality. If only the Glazers were smart enough to keep Liam. What if lol.

  5. BucsNbeer Says:

All I see is this team getting worse instead of improving. How can you not shake your head?

  6. Todd Says:

    Todd and Jason are history…………

  7. Mac Says:

Obviously he is going to the Ravens. Bucs are clearly tanking this season. Just hope this means it’s the last year of Toilet and Licht. Time for a change in Tampa.

  8. RagingBrisket Says:

We are in good hands with the guy who threw 15mil at Hassan Reddick and used high round draft capital on studs like Joe Tryin Shoyboy, Logan Hallpass and Chris Bragswell.
Maybe Licht should sign someone who knows how to manage a professional football team?

  9. Knothead71 Says:

    @Joes
I’m not trying to be a jerk but I think Hendrickson lives in Ponte Vedra.
It’s sort of a suburb of Jacksonville but a little bit south in Clay county.
    It’s a beach community.

  10. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

“…Joe would honestly be at a loss trying to figure out what the Bucs are trying to do this offseason.”

It is very clear what they are doing. NOTHING. Yes, it is early, but this is the worst offseason in memory. It’s not just that we have been comatose in free agency, but with all the glaring holes and no replacements except rookies coming in, it is no wonder ME is gone. Harry wants to be gone too.

I do not understand why the Glazers did not fire Todd when they are basically giving him no resources this year to redeem himself.

  11. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Joe is unsure what the Bucs are doing? I’m sure we are getting worse by the day
and submit either they are completely incompetent or they really believe shopping at the dollar store is a good strategy. Big difference between cheap and cost effective. They cannot make up ground by just drafting players. Rookie Edge players rarely produce much so if they don’t sign one from FA they are wasting the season. ( and another decent LB + vet CB) Perhaps there is some truth to FAs not wanting to sign here with lame lame duck HC.

  12. BucThis Says:

As fans we should be chanting “3rd & 28” every single Sunday until this organization proves it actually learned something. Even if we land Hendrickson, are we seriously supposed to believe this roster is built to compete? Who exactly is WR1? Godwin? Love the guy, but he’s not scaring anyone as a WR1. Emeka looks like a Godwin slot receiver, and J-Mac is still all projection. At running back, are we really hitching the wagon to Bucky already, or are we watching another flash-in-the-pan story play out?

This goes way beyond just losing M1K3. The front office and ownership have slowly watered this team down, and the direction feels clueless. Jason Licht deserves credit for the Super Bowl roster, but at this point he’s tied at the hip to Bowles, and if this season goes sideways, clean house from top to bottom. No half-measures.

And if we’re being brutally honest, the first person who should have their keycard deactivated at One Buc is Bruce Arians.

  13. FortMyersDave Says:

Joe says if the Bucs do not make a splash for edge that he is unsure of what the Bucs are trying to do….. My guess is that it is a signal that the Glazers and Jason are aiming for a down year and a rebuild starting in 2027 if Bowles cannot bring home a winner with limited free agent acquisitions and whatever they get in the draft. No splash moves and going for 2nd tier FAs are what the Bucs have done so far. The Glazers retained Bowles and must know he is not popular on many fronts, maybe he did lose the locker room, it sure seems like that when you read between the lines. Reminds me of the Jets standing pat with their HC with an eye on the 2027 QBs.

  14. BPBucsfan Says:

Hendrickson isn’t coming to this s**t show. He doesn’t probably want to play corner back dropping into coverage against Davante Adams.

  15. Marine Buc Says:

Before you fill a house with fancy furniture you should first repair the holes in the roof…

Adding an expensive old knee injured FA to this team is a dumb idea.

Unfortunately the Bucs are not just one player away from the Super Bowl.

  16. Marine Buc Says:

“Adding an expensive old knee injured FA to this team is a dumb idea.”

Or adding an expensive old FA who just had major core muscle surgery to this team is a dumb idea as well.

  17. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Unhealthy and unrealistic expectations is tearing some of you guys up, and it makes for interesting reads

Where is the money most of you wanna see getting spent, supposed to come from?

  18. HeavyE Says:

Only 2 million left, what is Jason Licht doing????

  19. ModHairKen Says:

    2026 — The Lost Season.

Mike Evans left to go to a team with a training facility near an electrical substation that causes soft tissue injuries.

With a history of soft tissue injuries.

    For less money.

    And higher taxes.

In a city where the rookie WR was shot.

    That’s how bad Tampa is.

    _____

Well, you spelled PV right but it’s in St. Johns not Clay county.

  21. BucU Says:

I want everybody fired. Licht, Bowles and the Glazers have gotten a little too comfortable with each other. Best buddies apparently. It’s ruined the business side of this organization. We’ve been majorly gaslighted by these people for too long now. Unfortunately for them we all can see that now. The fan anger over horrible decisions made the last couple years have boiled over into a feeding frenzy of disgust as we watch everything fall apart. This is not going to end well for Jason Licht + Todd Bowles and rightly so. They both should be working as used car salesmen not NFL big shots.

  22. Knothead71 Says:

    @Doooshlarue
I stand corrected, sir. Thank you for keeping me straight.

  23. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Just fyi Trey for the Bengals, not exactly a top notch outfit so I doubt that’s an issue here. He’s about the money, hires assassin. That’s it. I’d go with Chaison but Jason better find at least one edge in his budget.

  24. Bojim Says:

Got a good offense so draft defense and get someone like Chubb

  25. Bee Says:

Don’t let the Joe’s gaslight you, he’s not coming to the Bucs. Next year’s new HC and GM will need money to spend.

  26. HeavyE Says:

Hopefully new GM, HC & QB, next year! Let’s Go Bucs!!!

  27. BPBucsfan Says:

I wouldn’t bet on a new HC or GM.

  28. DungyDance Says:

“Mike Evans left to go to a team with a training facility near an electrical substation that causes soft tissue injuries.”

Also, the moon landing was faked.

  29. Lol Says:

I just hope they fully commit to this rebuild. This is not close to a superbowl roster or coaching staff. Really unserious team right now. Save the cap for the next few years and work on the draft and development.

  30. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    Hendrickson just signed for $28M/yr

  31. Darin Says:

He’ll take the dolphins over the Bucs. And jags in the mix. We all know the cap can be maneuvered to make it happen

  32. KC Buc Says:

    Annnnnnd he gone

  33. Deeboooo Says:

    He’s a raven

  34. KC Buc Says:

In the immortal words of Rob Schneider, “oh no, we suck again”.

  35. OG Bucsfan Says:

Trey just signed with the Ravens

  36. bakerfan Says:

I really don’t think that Licht and Bowles have a clue on how to build a team thru free agents or the draft. I would think that they would of done more by now especially at Linebacker and replacing Dean. Maybe the others are right, they are trying to tank this thing and Glazers told them not to spend money.

  37. Bee Says:

Told yall the Bucs aren’t making any splashes this FA. Lol…I called the tank as soon as Bowles was retained. I love being right.

  38. Rob5 Says:

Twelve NFL teams have never won a Super Bowl…
The Bucs have won two the latest just 4 yrs ago…
and all of you arm chair GMs what to get rid of
    Jason Licht…amazing!

  39. Been there since the beginning Says:

This is starting to smell like rotten fish. All the hype every year and Mike left now. The ship is out of control and Bowles threw the wheel in the bay. Little bits and pieces are coming out of some of the statements ex-players, is there a lot more we are going to find out? Is the locker room going to be alright? Will there be another mutiny on the high seas of this upcoming season? It’s starts from the top and the greatest receiver in team history just walked out on ya’ll. You might as well leave Maxx and Tre to deal with there problematic teams.

  40. HORRIBLENDS Says:

    Just signed with the Ravens…
