Bucs Sign Linebacker Christian Rozeboom

March 23rd, 2026

The pipeline from the 2021 Rams Super Bowl team to the Panthers to the Buccaneers has re-opened.

In the first wave of free agency, the Bucs signed Panthers free agent starting defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson on a one-year deal for $10 million. Robinson had played for the Rams and was a star of that Rams Super Bowl win alongside Aaron Donald.

Today, the Bucs signed an inside linebacker with a similar journey.

Christian Rozeboom, 29, started 16 games last season for Carolina and is known for stopping the run. Undrafted in 2021 out of South Dakota State, Rozeboom has a pedigree as a battler. After a brief stint with the Chiefs, he spent four seasons with the Rams, including 16 starts and more than 200 tackles through the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Joe applauds the signing. The Bucs desperately needed depth at inside linebacker and it appears Rozeboom is a decent complement to free agent signing Alex Anzalone, who is known for his elite cover skills.

Joe’s not sure what the Rozeboom addition means when it comes to the future of Lavonte David, but Rozeboom certainly isn’t making much money.

The signing does seem to signal that the Bucs are more than ready to make SirVocea Dennis a special teams warrior.

Nice. Now, if the Bucs draft the next Aaron Donald and the next Jalen Ramsey we’ll be all set!

  2. Countrybrew Says:

As long as we still draft one in the first 2 rounds 🙏

  3. Lakeland Says:

They’re bringing Rozeboom in to compete for a starting position
Or to add more depth to the ILB position

That depends on the Bucs draft plans
If they draft a ILB in Round 1-2, he will be depth
If they don’t draft a ILB early, he’s competing to because starter

  4. Buc king Says:

David coming back still adds value but him taking his time to answer if he will feels like he’s calling it unfortunately.
2 white boy’s in the middle who love physical football is a good start to get the defense fixed.
Still need 2 cb still need dline depth still need a ballpark at safety.
Winfield needs to bounce back ..
I lost faith in homie honestly can’t even think of his name he played so bad last year at 2cb …
Idk Todd bowles is calling defense not coaching the team so … expect a bad product

  5. Co-Z Coolman Says:

Licht definitely has a type. I bet he has a stack of those romance novels with Fabio on the cover on his desk…

  6. Ben Says:

Interesting signing. Also doesnt pin them into showing their hand in the draft. Now go add a corner in FA.

  7. Nicholas Carlson Says:

Love it. Takes pressure off the draft a bit and opens the door to drafting a special talent who might not suit immediate needs

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Maybe opens up draft for TE

  9. Truth be Told Says:

not bad. This guy has been a Productive starter. Can he Rush the Passer?

  10. Alldaway Says:

About time Licht wakes up. Need still another edge rusher, CB and WR.

  11. SlyPirate Says:

Sean McVay to Todd Bowles in 2 Seasons

    That has to suck.

  12. rrsrq Says:

This is all about getting SVD to step up to his draft staus

  13. exBrowns02 Says:

Decent signing. Keep it up Jason. You’re far from done!

  14. BigBucJoe Says:

Just think how great it would be reading about free agent signigns if we had a new coach. Otherwise…meh.

  15. HeavyE Says:

    LVD, must be retiring……

  16. adam from ny Says:

this guy did stand out a bit vs the bucs and i took note a few times – as he was very active out there…

yet he grades out like sh!t for whatever reason…

this could signal the departure of the once great lavonte…

this roster is starting to possibly feel like a tweener era type roster – if anyone understands what that means up in here…

can we still compete for a division, if 10 wins safely secures the title….?…..yes…

the only team who can potentially break away from the pack this year could be carolina…

otherwise the whole damn division is potentially 7 to 9 win teams…with 10 winning it, and 6 at the bottom spot…

it’s actually crazy how the nfl south on a whole has stayed for many steady years as a super bad division…like no one has had a premium record in years…a division shmeared by mediocrity for a long time now…

    shmeared like an bagel

  17. adam from ny Says:

    a good bagel…a new york bagel 🙂

  18. OrlandoBucFan Says:

Solid pick-up. Rozeboom looks like he may still be on the upswing in his development. He has at least one interception each of the last three seasons and he seems to be a solid tackler. At worst, he is a solid depth piece and at best a potential starter. There is less pressure on Licht to select an inside linebacker in the first round.

  19. buc4evr Says:

Can’t wait for LVD to decide if he going to retire. Good signing. Still need another ILB.

  20. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

This isn’t case closed on the ILB room. “Lost” Walker & Jones then brought in Anzalone & Rozeboom off the market. Now you got 2 older veterans that can each individually push SVD for his job, and serve as the backbone of that room. 2 Vets to get w/e rookie talent we bring in, to learn and rep what will be a new scheme as a trip/party of 4.

Lichts’ putting up the drywall lol

  21. Lakeland Says:

Rozeboom made big plays against Baker Mayfield

Other than those two games, he was a normal guy
He got a sack and int against Baker

But l don’t think he’s that great against the run
He had too many assisted tackles, not enough solo tackles
But l like his size, demeanor and experience, and effort

I think he will be a good fit in Tampa

  22. adam from ny Says:

they’ve added what i call real stability to the position…and with that said, i actually can see lavonte coming back possibly…

not as much will be asked of him…

with the ineptitude around him in recent years, a whole lot was on his shoulders…

with the 2 crazy white boys manning the middle, it makes his job easier and he can pull the unit together, and be more like half player, half coach – sort of…and the rook or 2 rooks coming into the fold — he can absolutely coach them up as he racks up some more stats and sails off after the season…

so maybe lvd does return for an encore type season

  23. adam from ny Says:

    –he will lay the boom–

  24. kgh4life Says:

Rozeboom was signed as a depth piece. He raises the floor of the Bucs defensive and pushes SVD down the depth chart where he belongs.

  25. adam from ny Says:

i think anzalone and roseboom are your starters as of right now…with the other guys all on the outside looking in…

a lavonte return of course knocks boom to 3rd backer…and i’m sure he’s ok with that – and it was probably fully discussed before the signing and all

  26. adam from ny Says:

we do not have an elite linebacker room…lol…it’s been quite a problem…lol

as of right now, boom is a starter…along with thor…

it’s the “thor and boom” show as of right now…in real time

  27. adam from ny Says:

and yes the draft can change or alter the “thor and boom” show

  28. Tim Says:

UDFA out of SDSU! GO JACKS!!!

  29. Scott Says:

he is a seasoned vet. He gets a lot of tackles but so do a lot of our previous LBs that were good there but couldn’t cover. He graded higher than SVD in coverage but under in other areas. They are in the same range of backend but productive LBs. it will be good competition. With Anzalone coming in that will be a big upgrade in 1 of the spots possibly the Mic I would assume.

  30. Doooshlarue Says:

I’m guessing that we’re getting a lot smarter at the position as well.

  31. Defense Rules Says:

Joe … ‘The signing does seem to signal that the Bucs are more than ready to make SirVocea Dennis a special teams warrior.’

Still hoping that the Bucs draft TWO ILBs in the Top-4 Rnds this year. SVD isn’t the future, and I’d much rather see us get 2 rookies on-board to build that future with. We’ve got enough guys who can play Special Teams.

  32. Defense Rules Says:

BTW, Rozeboom played a LOT of Special Teams with the Rams.

  33. adam from ny Says:

kinda like a barrett ruud maybe…?

but gets up more for tackles…as ruud made most plays like 15 yards down the field lol…

and yeah not great in coverage

  34. Oxycondomns Says:

nice to have depth which was one of the needs going into 2nd wave of free agency . struggles mightily when covering tight ends
