Bucs Re-Sign Guard Dan Feeney

March 13th, 2026

Dangerous Dan Feeney will get his first full season with Tampa Bay, provided he makes the initial 53-man roster.

Per Peter Schrager of ESPN, Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht re-signed guard Feeney today to a one-year deal.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, Licht told Joe and other local media that he liked what he saw from Feeney. And two weeks later, he has a new contract.

The Bucs signed Feeney off the Bills’ practice squad in mid-September. The nine-year veteran played in 12 games and was the starting right guard for the Bucs’ final 10 games in place of injured Cody Mauch.

Joe started calling Feeney “Dangerous Dan” because, well, he was downright dangerous at times to Baker Mayfield. Still, Feeney was rather steady, albeit not at a high level.

There’s a shortage of capable guards across the NFL. So at least the Bucs are getting someone familiar, a guy that will have chemistry with teammates if he gets in a game. It also could help Feeney to spend a full offseason and training camp with his team. Joe still expects the Bucs to look for more guard-center help.

Joe’s favorite Feeney highlight is below.

Back up to the back ups

    Still need to draft Ioane….

  2. Stpetenatt Says:

In all seriousness, I would be an equally effective starter at guard as Dan Feeney.

  3. Stpetenatt Says:

Our guards are great. Why would we waste a first round pick on a guard that won’t even start??? Makes no logical sense. How about replacing SVD or LVD? One or the other still needs a drafted replacement. If not, pick any other front 7 position and draft another player for a rotation.

  4. Stpetenatt Says:

Or take Sadiq for a truly sick offense. Or even Love if he drops. The choices are endless…

  5. MadMax Says:

You must not watch the G spots when watching the games…thats ok, G spots are hard to get to sometimes, especially with those tight ends running around lol

  6. MadMax Says:

btw, of course he would start, duh! I was talking about Feeney as bu to the bu….

  7. Simeon4HOF Says:

A healthy Godwin will offset losing Evans. We have 3 playmaker receivers that wont 4 certain pull a hammy next year. And Tez. Will get a big body to use in redzone at some point. Getting Kieft and our Guards Back along with a healthy Bucky will ignite our offense

  8. Simeon4HOF Says:

Atleast Braswell didnt just catch 3 felonies in ATL lol.
Character does matter, good job JL. But ya better go get another one Round 1.

  9. Simeon4HOF Says:

Draft on Olineman, maybe a big WR or TE late.
But offense is set. Godwin back as the heartbeat.
And guarantee Baker has plenty more chips on his shoulder.
Id extend him now, shut Me 13 tf up some.
Do not like how he dissed fans. We always showed him love and tolerated his weaknesses and key dropped passes. We didnt cry when his lack of speed canceled him in double coverage. We didn’t whine when better CBs would shut him down 4 a Sunday.
We didnt focus on the fact that he wasn’t a deep threat. We cheered when he made every play, but never thru him under the bus when faster receivers had annually better seasons.
We loved Mike. Now he has no QB lol

  10. Beeej Says:

I’ve always wanted to TRY pro football….

  11. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Who lol

  12. Tony Says:

Maybe resign Desmond Watson & put him at G instead?😀

  13. Hail2dabucs Says:

Are you effin kidding me joe ‘s ? Joe , tell me you saw last season what i saw . This guy getting blown up and pushed around a lot ! Did my eyes deceive me ?

  14. Simeon4HOF Says:

Now go build the rest of this defense, but do not miss

    Edge Rd 1
    ILB Rd 2
    CB Rd 3

  15. Vanessa Anne Says:

I’m up in the air about this.

No doubt, we need some depth on the O-line.

But, Dan was part of the challenges we had with it last year.

I will agree with Joe… a training camp and having more familiarity with the team may help.

  16. Scott Says:

We had some of he worst guard play in the league last year. We need to keep drafting O line.

  17. Simeon4HOF Says:

This signing sucks but must have to do with the fact we have no business drafting a backup G until we have a backup tackle and finish fixing our Defense

  18. Outrigger Says:

I hope they didn’t pay much for this bum. He and the rest of our backup guards are trash and it really hurt us last year. Klein was another bust of a draft choice by Licht. We will need to draft another guard/center in the later rounds of this year’s draft. I like the center from Indiana.

  19. Day 1-76 Says:

We’re only in trouble if he makes the final 53.

  20. Eric Says:

I’m tired of this because we like him spit (if you know you know)! He was horrible last year, period!

  21. Ufc Says:

Just sign a trash can while we r at it

  22. BucsFan81 Says:

Off topic but if anyone wants to see the Doug Martin police camera footage it’s in TMZ. Dude definitely was on drugs and crashed out.

  23. HeartyDickerson Says:

Sometimes the devil you don’t know is better than the devil you know.

Why throw money at a trash player you watched get throttled for 17 games? Try literally anyone else. Get out of your comfort zone Licht

  24. Captahab Says:

At Stpetenatt, the wheels came of our offense when Our starting guards went down. Gotta have depth at the position or the season is toast if you just rely on the starting Five. Chances are it’s difficult to get through a season without injury. We have needs all over the roster, guard is one of them.

  25. 3.28.Evans Says:

Can’t have too many matadors in your offensive line room. Glad we’ve got one back who really knows how to wave the cape.

  26. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

While I don’t see what JL sees in the guy, I gotta give Licht props for having a good eye for OL players. If he sees something in Freeney’s potential that a lot of us (myself included) don’t then I’ll defer to Jason’s instincts at the position. Now when it comes to OLB I worry a little about JL’s judgement, but he’s bound to hit on a draft pick eventually.

  27. Simeon4HOF Says:

Need to draft a Tackle that can play guard

  28. Rod Munch Says:

Humm… that’s questionable. He was awful last year. I guess it’s a vet min deal with no guaranteed money, so I guess perhaps it a little bit of an insurance policy, but man, I hope he doesn’t make the team.

  29. Kgh4life Says:

Isn’t Alex Cappa a free agent? I thought they would bring him in. Dan Feeney and Michael Jordan was a swinging door at both guard positions.

    ———-

Yeah, Licht loves taking college tackles and moving them inside – and it generally works out well. I’d be surprised if they don’t spend a pick at some point in the draft on an offensive lineman who they’ll crosstrain.

  31. Mobucs Says:

Nine-year vets have shown all their potential; expecting sudden improvement is not the bet to make.

  32. Will Says:

Why? Please draft a person to replace him. Thank you.

  33. Will Says:

They can draft Dunker he has a mullet too.

  34. Lakeland Says:

Licht signed him to compete in camp for a backup OG position

There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s a good signing
More bodies will be brought in before camp start
He can compete with the draftees, UDFAs, and others

  35. Proudbucfan Says:

I truly hope he never gets on the field again for Tampa unless it’s on special teams

  36. Stpetematt Says:

Yeah it’s ok to draftable an o-lineman or guard but not to start them- as a backup. Therefore, 4th round or later. Preferably 5th+! Use the first 4 picks on clear starters or players you want to platoon with or replace not good starters with.

People that will see the field year 1. For sure.

  37. Captahab Says:

Desperately need another quality guard. One injury at guard and the wheels come off.
