Sleepless Nights For Zac Robinson

January 27th, 2026

As Bucs fans know well, Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins carved up the Bucs badly in his last three starts against Tampa Bay over the past two years.

Cousins spent those games with new Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson calling the shots for him in Atlanta.

Today, when Robinson was introduced to the Tampa Bay media throng, he was asked about facing the Bucs a couple of times. Sage of Tampa Bay Sports Ira Kaufman, the venerable JoeBucsFan.com columnist, even asked Robinson about whether he had conversations with Bucs head coach Todd Bowles about how Atlanta was able to carve up Tampa Bay.

Robinson wasn’t having any of it. He twice talked about sleepless nights prepping to play the complex Bowles defense, and how he’s glad to not have to do that again.

Robinson also said he and Bowles didn’t have conversations about schemes specific to those Falcons-Bucs games. That time will come, he said.

No, nobody asked Robinson in the news converence about his famous (infamous?) 3rd-and-28 and 4th-and-14 calls that beat the Bucs on Thursday Night Football in December. If those don’t happen, the Bucs very likely win the NFC South — and perhaps Robinson would be coaching elsewhere.

Zac has baker to thank lol…

without bakers 4th quarter INT vs ATL, Zac doesnt get to 3&28 or 4&14…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  2. Lakeland Says:

It wasn’t Zach Robinson play calling , and it wasn’t the defensive calls. It was the poor play of the players that allowed the Falcons to get the first down. A combination of missed tackles, and being out of position. I kept saying saying it going into the season. The players on this defense were trash. And they didn’t belong in the NFL.

The definitely shouldn’t be starting for a team with Super Bowl aspirations.

  3. HC Grover Says:

Bowzo is such a HERO!!! Woo Hoo here we go. Rebuilding Bowzo for the upcoming Super Bowl run Hype. You know it is coming and you know most will fall for it.

  4. Hodad Says:

Glad we got this guy, but the elephant is still in the room. Todd’s complex defense that his players can’t grasp, and second rate players. Bad defensive draft picks, and bad defensive coaching have not been addressed.

  5. Popmike66 Says:

Robinson should be fine calling plays for the Bucs this season. As bad as the Bucs offense played last season, they started 6-2 and 1 game score 32 and still loss. filter in at least 4 games where the defense collapsed late in the 4th quarter when the offense had a lead and you’re looking at a 11-6 team that would’ve easily made the playoffs and this was with a first time play caller and half the OL missing with other offensive injuries. My main on your offense. My concern is the defense. Bowles has weathered the storm before, I want to see if he can do it again this season and get this team back to respectability

  6. Lakeland Says:

    The problem with the Bucs,

They place too much emphasis on these defensive players athletism
You can be a great athlete, but not a great football player
You can also have less athletic abilities, but be a great football player

You need more than athletic abilities to be a good football player
You need good technique, high football IQ, play smart, play hard etc
The Bucs don’t often draft these type of defensive players

  7. Lakeland Says:

    **I meant Athleticism

  8. Newbie Says:

I am so sick and tired of hearing two narratives –

    1) Every TV analysts saying what a great defensive coach Todd Bowles is…
    2) How good his scheme is…

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH… or how Joe(s) say MEH.

  9. Upstate NY BUC Says:

Reminds me of Cohen a lot!!! Offense should recover quite nicely. Defense another issue. Go Bucs

  10. BUCDADDY Says:

Ninja, please! Blaming anyone other than the Bucs defense for that game is ridiculous. Lol! This was, again, another game that Baker did throw a pick, but we were up 14 when he did. Lol! Then, in the 4th quarter, the defense gave up a quick, easy 12 points. Then the o-line didn’t block, and no receivers were open, giving up another easy sack on 3rd down. Lol! Then, after the punt, the defense allowed Atlanta to march right down the field for the winning field goal. 15 points in a quarter is unacceptable. 3rd and 28 and 4th and 14 is unacceptable. Lol! But I guess this games was Baker’s fault. Lol!

  11. BucU Says:

Outsiders just regurgitate what they hear from the national media in regard to Bowles being a def guru. It’s laughable. Clearly they don’t watch all the games or study stat lines. I’ll never forget what my eyes have seen with the fraud in charge. 31 other teams would of fired the bum after the great collapse of 2025.
Especially when he let it slip that “we as coaches have done all we can”. That statement alone should of sent him packing. Every single game we’re at a disadvantage against real NFL coaches. I’ll never accept him as the HC/DC of the Bucs.

  12. 813bucboi Says:

This was, again, another game that Baker did throw a pick, but………………………………………………….

    excuse excuse excuse!!!!!!!

baker had the opportunity to put his “killer instinct” on display!!!!…

with the ball in his hands, in the 4th quarter, he throw a INT instead of tacking on points…..then, on the next possession, he missed EE2 on a key 3rd down…

ATL had zero timeouts left!!!…baker hits EE2 and its ball game…ATL cant stop the clock…..

    but yeah, its the defense

    GO BUCS!!!!!

if i’m zac robinicus i’m shooting for 30 points a game and letting it all hang out, balls n all…

i’m throwing the mcvay kitchen sink at teams every darn week despite what bowles tells me…

and i’m watching and studying every single bucs game over and over from the 2024 coen bucs season, and implementing as much of that stuff into the game plans and system as well…

in fact my goal would be 35 points a game, not 30, and to ignore my zombie HC

  14. HC Grover Says:

    Hire Cousins Fire Bilgewater

  15. HC Grover Says:

Newbie….TV analysts….they are woke idiots Morons and clowns.

  16. Ash Says:

If Todd has to ask an offensive coordinator what is wrong with his defense why the f is he here. I really hope they toss that I am that man in the waste bin and get some a$$holes who knock happy meals in the dirt who hate the opposing team simply because they are the opposing team please and thank you.

  17. Confido75 Says:

Nothing to be excited about here. Not replacing Bowles and hiring ZR as OC has only gotten the Bucs to +4000 odds to win the SB next year. This basically means they are predicted to be another .500 team at best next year. According to the OBP FO propaganda team we should all be thankful and doing cart wheels in the streets for the great hiring decision Bowles made. What a joke!

  18. Tom Petty Says:

Go watch the press conference yourselves people.

Feeling much better after hearing him @ the podium. Think he could be our best choice after all. If we can just keep him away from the shltty “fans” who rage against Todd , or Baker, or Jason no matter what the topic is.

Let’s go Zach – fu#k the haters – you got this shlt 👍🏼

  19. Chad Says:

813bucboi 3rd and 28 and 4th and 14. Bucs win that game if defense gets a stop on either play. Blame baker and the offense all you want. But when rookie qbs and Kirk cousin eats this defense up, that ain’t on the offense. Bucs had a bottom 3 defense in the league. Imagine being a qb knowing that you aren’t allowed to make a mistake. Mistakes happens interceptions happen, a good defense helps the offense overcome mistakes, that didn’t happen all year

  20. Colonel Angus Says:

    Good times

  21. Oxycondomns Says:

someone in that room let robinson walk(bowles) and then told bowles to hire him. bowles tried to hire another grizzard type who he could blame again. the combo of bowles and griz looked similar to the combo of bowles and darnold and the combo of bowles and brady

  22. RondeBarberTime Says:

The smoke screen for Bowles from the media is astounding.

Never mind that you need to score 40+ points a game to win a game with him as the HC\DC.

Don’t take the bait when they say 2026 is a make or break year for Bowles.

They feigned disgust during and after the Hindenburg style collapse that was the 2025 season.

But here we are again and the excuse train rolls on.

This will be the case until the 2028 season is over. results do not matter.

    3rd and 28.

  23. Do not go to the games Says:

813bucboi is back at it again blaming someone that did NOT give up 3rd and 28 to 4th and 14. It was Bakes fault for getting them there? sure. Was it his fault the defense couldnt stop a damn thing?

really? 3rd and 28, 4th and 14 and its bakers fault for not stopping the falcons offense??? get a grip. YOUR Todd Bowles let that offense march down the field. How come he gets no flak from you? I. Wonder. Why.

  24. Confido75 Says:

@Tom Petty, the s****y fans checked with Vegas again to see if your impassioned post changed the odds of the Bucs winning the SB next year. Nope, its still +4000. Thanks for playing.

  25. Hugh Glazerhouse Says:

“That’s right @Tom (be Petty). You tell these guys to Don Juan their big sombreros and rally behind my affordable man. I got Todd Bowles just to help he needed with this “Kirk third and 28 whisperer.” Now my reservation at Bern’s got canceled somehow, but how about you meet Zachary and me at the Village Inn on Dale Mabry at 7 instead.” – Hugh
