“Live With It”

January 20th, 2026

Todd Bowles

Former Bucs guard Ian Beckles (1990-1996) has a message for Bucs fans that many won’t like.

But many will applaud.

Beckles is completely annoyed by the lingering anger and frustration among fans still pissy because Todd Bowles will be the team’s head coach in 2026.

If the Bucs had fired Bowles, Beckles would have understood, he’s said previously. But the head coach is back, so Beckles says every Bucs fan needs to grow up and get over it.

“It’s ok to have an opinion on what you think should happen with the coaching decision. If you’re a Buccaneer fan, once the coaching decision is made, live with it,” Beckles began on the The Jay Recher Podcast yesterday.

“Live with it, because know that Todd Bowles is going to be our boss next year, I don’t want to fuc*’n hear you don’t want him hear no more. It doesn’t sound good. It doesn’t sound good as a fan base. It sounds like you’re some bellyaching, we just won a Super Bowl [five] years ago. Nobody wants to hear about you not wanting [Todd Bowles], ‘We want somebody [else].’ You think we’re going to be better with [Sean] McDermott than Todd Bowles; we don’t know that. Listen, this is your team. Ok. That’s your coach. Your coach, believe it or not whether you like it or not, overachieved last year with what happened with this football team.”

Joe gets Beckles’ sentiment, but fans won’t ever catch Joe telling fans how to be fans. There is no wrong way for a fan to want what they believe is best for the franchise, outside of criminal behavior.

Many people, not Beckles, tried to tell Joe that this website was a crime against Bucs fandom and that Joe was breaking all established rules (unwritten, of course) of decorum and decency among Buccaneers media. They were wrong, and some still stew on that reality on a regular basis.

What Joe worries about today is the fans who have checked out because of Bowles’ current status. They’re out there. Joe knows a couple personally. And that’s not good for anyone.

What a silly segment by him lol…

Looking forward to hearing from him when Bowles is fired next year.

  2. Eric Says:

No, I won’t live with it.

  3. Bee Says:

Someone should tell Ian no one wants to hear him bellyaching about fans bellyaching. He’s a company apologist along with Barber. They’re former players so I get it…somewhat. Company men can never tell it like it is or speak their full mind. Fans can and will.

No one and I repeat no one can convince sober, knowledgeable football fans that keeping Bowles is a step in the right direction. He’s in over his head as a HC. He cant keep track of everything going on with the team thats why hes a step too slow in game and out of game.

ST has been bad all season and he waited til the season was over to make changes. Defense suffers from the miscommunication issues and his personnel management is atrocious.

Bowles was retained for one reason, to get a top 10 draft pick. Bowles is talented enough to get us there.

  4. Buddhaboy19 Says:

Multiple things can be true at the same time.

    – We did just win a Super Bowl 5 years ago, yippee.
    – We will never win a Super Bowl with Todd Bowles as Head Coach, so what are we really doing
    – It’s ok to bellyache about and also feel for teams like Buffalo that have never won one, they need a Jon Gruden type to take them over the top.
    – The Jags are more likely to win a Super Bowl before the Bucs do again.
    – Fans are fans, they can do what they want and will.
    – I still like Canadian Bacon, Ian Beckles

  5. 813bucboi Says:

wtf is Beck talking about lol….

its been pure regression since bowles took over…nothing over 9 regular season wins…

yes, absolutely, Sean Mcdermott wouldve been better…he took over a trash team in the bills and have turned them around…his MVP QB is a choke artist but thats another topic for another day lol…

what “doesn’t sound good” is bowles saying his defensive players, Zyon gets “bored” at times….

what “doesnt sound good” is bowles saying we have to coach it better after losing to lousy division foes…

bowles overachieved ONLY in the 1st half of the season!!!!….when the team got healthier, we stacked up L after L…Kyle Shanahan overachieved!!!!!!…not bowles

    all these excuses are BS!!!!…

this is a 12win team imo, but we’ll only get 7 wins with this coaching staff

    GO BUCS!!!!

  6. Newbie Says:

So what… and I am still pissed off.

  7. johnnythemoon Says:

We got Steelers ST Coach we good

  8. Gus Lopez Says:

I don’t want to hear what Ian Beckles has to say – how about that? Who is a washed up NFL player turned local minor celebrity radio personality think he is to tell fans how to think or feel? I about checked out over the decicision to keep Bowles, and I’ve been a fan since 1976, through thick and thin, and I’ll express my opinion any way I see fit, so shut your trap Beckles. Nobody cares what YOU think.

  9. johnnythemoon Says:

Beckles and Reacher his yes man and lap puppy always have it in for someone ,last week it was Diaby for telling the truth now it is the Fans

  10. 813bucboi Says:

    Bee

lol…you may be on to something lol…

maybe the Glazers are tanking for a Top 5 pick and hoping San Fran is as dumb as the Steelers, Ravens and Bills and fire their GM & HC lol…

maybe Glazers are planning to can bait with baker, bowles and licht after 2026 & replace them with Kyle, John and a QB of their choice lol

one can dream cuz this sure is a nightmare lol

    GO BUCS!!!!

  11. purplebeard Says:

Do you want to see what good coaching looks like? Two words: Indiana University.

  12. Pewter Power Says:

Just live with it hahaha you know it’s bad when that’s the message. Done writer Beckles we already know it’s a throwaway season unless somebody comes in here scoring 35-40 points a game. Thanks to Coen we already know 30 points won’t get the job done

  13. MadMax Says:

Who is ian beckles? Like his opinion matters anyway….

  14. Popmike66 Says:

I am not ticked with Beckles, that’s his opinion. As I’ve said many times on this site opinions are like rear ends every body has one. Isn’t that’s what fans come to this site to do, vent and express their opinions about the Bucs

  15. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Do you want to see what good coaching looks like? Two words: Indiana University.“

That and the fact the average age on that team is like 23 years old, definetly a talented team though, players and coaches.

  16. Bucs3 Says:

Beckles can Shhhhh with all that

It’s a crime to charge people the money for these Bucs Tixs and then put second rate coaches on the field and tell Fans Just except it Be a good Fan

Let try BE A GOOD OWNER put the best on the field

HEY MR FOOTBALL BECKLES TELL ME ONE TEAM THAT WOULD KEEP THIS COACH BESIDES BARGIN BUCS

Honestly I think Beckles loves Bowles staying

This teams decisions this year are very suspect

First take a backup QB off the coach who wasn’t that good when he was in the NFL

Second fire Most Coaches because of a bad season EXCEPT KEEP THE HEAD COACH

This team has fired Coaches twice because of lost season But Kept the Leader
    BOWLES

Mr Beckles Name another Team that had ever done that

NO SIR don’t blame fans WHO WANT TO WIN

  17. Bowles Wasn’t Held Accountable Says:

The Bucs owners punted on the 2026 season, no biggie. Bowles should’ve been FIRED for his “defense” against Kirk Cousins alone. If they don’t care, why should I care?

  18. Rick Says:

Been a fan for 50 years. Paid lots of money on tickets, Sunday NFL Ticket, gear, etc. I will follow this site but I not wasting more money until he is gone. I made the same decision with baseball. I have not spent a dime on the Angels in 8 years.

  19. StormyInFl Says:

    Dear Ian –

    Bite Me.

    Todd Sucks. Fire coach Toilet.

  20. It's Corn Says:

He hasn’t been worth listening to in a long time. He needs therapy or anger management or something.

Thank you Joe for respecting us as fans who don’t want Bowles as coach.

  21. Newbie Says:

I have always liked Beckles but completely disagree with him on this one. Been a diehard fan since 1976 and I dont need or want anyone telling me how to act. I have lived through it all with this franchise. But what happened this year is unmatched in Buc history. And to make matters worse – this team quit on their coach. That means they quit on their teammates. They quit on Team Glazer and JL. It was an epic collapse. No one survives that yet this regime did. WTF!

I am pissed that no one in charge was held accountable. It shows me what happened with this team is acceptable and tolerated. It’s one thing to play hard and lose but that’s not what I saw. I saw an injury riddled team that played hard for 8 or so games then quit. I saw a poorly coached team. I saw a team that didn’t play ONE game of complementary football. The bad roster (defensively) caught up with them. Special teams was arguably the worst in pro football. Did I say we were poorly coached? Defense regressed for the 4th year in a row. We have no pass rush. We play soft coverage. We give 2nd contracts to guys that get “bored”. Who the f%^k is in charge of this team? It’s comical. This organization should be down right embarrassed at what transpired this season and what didn’t happen after week 18.

So I am not going anywhere and nothing Beckles or anyone can say is going to change my mind. I am still pissed at my team.

  22. Daryl Green Says:

    F him Aloha 🤙🏾

  23. Tye Says:

Ian can live with hearing it or tuner it out but he is straight up STUPID if he thinks he has ANY value in his say of the Bucs fan base… What a do**he!

  24. Daryl Green Says:

Rick I’m not paying for the ticket either 🤙🏾👊🏾👊🏾

  25. Bee Says:

    813bucboi

One can dream indeed. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for that to happen. Kyle, John and a young QB would be magic. This is what this team needs. An influx of fresh energy and youth.

  26. buc4evr Says:

The Glazers will have to live with empty seats. Since I no longer have season tickets I don’t have to live with it. I can just change the channel. Ian can be an idiot. He can’t tell us what to think.

  27. Lessismore Says:

I would like to think that Bucs fan disgruntled with keeping Bowles are years ahead of Steeler fans.

Tomlin (who is a good coach) has a winning record, but not a Super Bowl appearance since the 2010 season (Jan2011) and hasn’t won a playoff game since 2016. And geeze, I cannot fathom 3 more years of 9-8 and 8-9 seasons.

And yes Joe, the Rams playoff game loss will live forever jade my view of Bowles.

  28. Confido75 Says:

Beckles is allowed say what he wants. I can say that because I served and fought to protect our beloved Constitutional Rights. However, I’m also allowed to say what I want. Beckles, you are just a talking clown now. Just another clown to entertain us. Dance clown, dance! Honk! Honk!

  29. Ted Says:

Unless you own the team, of course we have to live with it. TB has been afforded latitude with the Buccaneers to a fault. Not very often that a Defensive minded HC gets a pass on being a sub par Defensive play caller as a Head Coach. The Defense has been not great for a while now and TB has not been forced to hire a defensive coordinator….The Glazers are letting him make decisions that may result in his firing sooner rather than later.

  30. Newbie Says:

Darryl and Rick – I am not paying a penny for tix or anything else Buc related. If the Glazers dont care why should I?

  31. HC Grover Says:

Hey IAN…Buzz Off. I do not care….I repeat I do not care…They will do what they want and they will put a product on the fieid this fall. Good or bad it dont mean nothin to me. Bye Bye.

  32. Fred McNeil Says:

I see Beckles point, but the Glazers did the one and only thing that can guarantee another disappointing season. I don’t care what linebackers or defensive lineman we draft. Bowlzo will never put them in a position to succeed. It’ll be exactly the same ineffective thread worn zone blitz that went out of fashion 40 years ago. More like zzzzzzzone. Wake me up then the season ends

  33. gp Says:

I was one of the first yelling for his ouster after the playoff loss to the Lions a couple years ago.
But the Glazers kept him for some reason and I have been hoping for his success each season since.
I have been wishing and hoping for his success because he is the coach of the team that I am a fan of.
That doesn’t mean that I am expecting him to succeed, I’ve been voting no confidence in the polls for a looooooooong time.
The players and fans deserve a better coach and I’ll continue saying that until it happens.
In the mean time, I’ll continue rooting for the success of coach and team, just as I have always done since ’76.

  34. Tom Petty Says:

They are “living with it” – whining incessantly every single day but still no choice but to deal with it. Todd will be back, Baker will be back – grow up.

Love all these guys proclaiming they won’t spend $ on tickets etc anymore. Were you spending $ before ? For God’s sake you locals let the friggin opponents teams fans take over your home stadium. I think I’ve heard maybe 2 of the chronic complainers say they’ve actually attended a game last year. I’d bet 90% of the people showing up to complain don’t spend a penny on the bucs – Sad. 😞

  35. HC Grover Says:

I was here b4 him and after him! Hey Bozo Beckles. Mind your own biz you loser. Just Dust off you jerk.

  36. Vancouver Buc Says:

Becks should be fired as well

  37. Hodad Says:

Well of course we’ll live with it, we don’t have a choice. Doesn’t mean we can’t, or shouldn’t be critical of him, and the Bucs this season.

  38. Hugh Glazerhouse Says:

“My man! Let me ignore the fans, and what my own eyes can see, so that I can save money. My kind of alumni.” – Hugh

  39. RondeBarberTime Says:

No one cares what Ian Beckles thinks others should do.

Fans follow and root for the team and pay the freight because they want to.

With that comes the right to have opinions. Right, wrong, or indifferent.

Besides it’s all opinion and conjecture anyway.

An overwhelming majority of the fan base are ready for a change at the top.

    Live with it.

  40. Buc Rogers Says:

Beckles is garbage and has been for a long time. Thats why he’s doing pod casts an not TV or even radio.

  41. FormerBucFan Says:

I’m one ‘pissy’ fan that won’t spend one dime on bucs paraphernalia or tune in to watch any broadcast on tv. After 50 years I’ve earned that right. And guess what…I won’t be the only one. What a jerk!!!!!

  42. Buc4ever Says:

    good grief. mediocrity.

  43. BucU Says:

That kind of arrogant bullshyt from Beckles just makes me scream louder and longer that keeping Bowles is a cowardly mistake. Don’t care what he thinks.

  44. Ricki Says:

Tank for the draft, here we come

  45. Buddha Says:

“A fan or fanatic, sometimes also termed an aficionado or enthusiast, is a person who exhibits strong interest or admiration for something or somebody, such as a celebrity, a sport, a sports team, a genre, a politician, a book, a television show, a movie, a video game or an entertainer.”

So many on this site want the team to lose. It’s really depressing.

  46. Permanently Moderated Says:

I like Ian and I won’t abandon the Bucs, but he’s out of line on this issue. He’s concerned about how it looks after the disaster that was this season? Give us a break.

  47. sethery Says:

I love my Bucs. I’ll always remember winning Super Bowl XXXVII the night before my 16th birthday. Me and my brothers raced through the neighborhood yelling and cheering and neighbors rushed out to join us. I was dating a girl on the TBBC squad during the lost decade and the Morris/Freeman era and I was at every game.

I moved to Los Angeles for work 7 years ago and somehow not being in Tampa I realized how fragile some Bucs fans can be. quick to see red. I’m sure all teams fans can be like this but, man. root for our boys! we want them to win. I’m a die hard fan but I am not playing the game or designing the scheme. our coaches and our players are.

I understand the business is geared to get us to invest in tickets and gear and base our identity around our fandom… but at the end of the day it’s the players and coach’s livelihoods and as long as they’re with the team I want to see them do well!

I did want a new coach after this year went south, but it didn’t happen. now, I HOPE bowles has a kicks ass next year and turns the defense around, brings on a great OC, we win the super bowl again so I can run through the streets of South Tampa drunk. and then maybe Bowles retires after achieving that and the young guru OC stays on long term as HC (LMAO)

  48. unbelievable Says:

    “overachieved”???????

    Terrible take from Beckles.

Someone should teach him the word he was looking for was “under”, as in massively underachieved…

  49. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

As I have said many times before after reading your quotes of him (JBM has never listened to his podcast), sometimes I wonder what team Beckles is watching.

  50. It’s Exciting!!!! Says:

2026 is RINSE AND REPEAT as long as Todd is here.

  51. gotbbucs Says:

At least the Glazers have let us know now that the expectation is 7-10, 8-9, and on the rare occasion maybe 9-8. Set achievable goals I guess.

  52. Tampa2ATL Says:

    Amen, Ian.

The sentiment has been heard loud & clear. The usually funny & insightful JBF comment section has turned into the same yawn-inspiring repeat on every thread. Give it a rest, Rain Man (men?).

Hop back on the bandwagon when we tune-up this offseason and start winning again, perhaps 5-1 to start season (before inevitable slump, then we can all say “I told you so if/when slump turns into another collapse).

  53. Rayjay1122 Says:

Live with it…. Kinda like Herpes.

  54. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Eric Says:
“No, I won’t live with it.”

    Unless you die, you are.

It’s not like you have a choice.

  55. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Beckles is right.

  56. ChiBuc Says:

What’s next Ian? “Because I said so.” Or maybe, “don’t make me turn this car around.” When you’re paying my rent and driving me to Disney, I’ll listen. Otherwise, try to find a legit topic to pay your rent.

  57. BelleGladeBuc Says:

I don’t care about Ian Beckles opinion.

He’s irrelevant to me and has zero impact on my life.

I’m a grown man who has successfully raised a family and is nearing retirement and looking forward to being a Grandpa one day.

Guess what Ian, I don’t want Todd Bowles as my coach.

Guess what Ian, there are way more people who agree with me than you.

And the money I spent on Bucs tickets for 4, parking, food, beverages and merchandise this year for 3 games will not be spent on the Bucs next year.

Guess what Ian, I know a lot of people who are going to be doing that too.

Guess what Ian, I think Todd Bowles is a below average head football coach, and nothing that you or anyone else says will change my mind about his career record and job performance.

That doesn’t make me a bad fan. It makes me honest and factual. Sorry you and others have issues with honesty and facts.

    😂😂Perfect analogy

  59. MerryPlankster777 Says:

We had a lot of garbage coaches in 2010s, so nothing too new.
Bucs fans may have to live with it, but don’t have to buy tickets to do so.
    TV is still free, right?
