Bucs Offensive Coaching Staff Coming Together

January 23rd, 2026

Offensive staff building.

It seems new Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson is bringing some offensive assistants with him from Atlanta rather than cherry-picking assistants from his previous home with the Rams.

Is that smart? Joe isn’t sure about two guys Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported will join Robinson in Tampa.

Robinson is bringing former Dixie Chicks passing game coordinator T.J. Yates to the Bucs. The former journeyman backup quarterback started his coaching career working for Bill O’Brien in Houston.

Yates left for Atlanta in 2021 and had been with the Dixie Chicks ever since.

Also, per Rapoport, Robinson is bringing long-time offensive assistant Ken Zampese, who was Baker Mayfield’s quarterbacks coach as a rookie in Cleveland. Probably Zampese’s biggest claim to fame is working with Mike Martz and Kurt Warner in St. Louis.

A piece of good news to Joe is that Greg Auman of FOX Sports reported Robinson will retain Bucs offensive line coach Kevin Carberry. The two worked together with the Rams.

In Joe’s mind, retaining Carberry is a very, very smart move.

    Well at least he kept Carberry. Run game SHOULD be better. Only issue is at least in Atlanta, guys disappeared

  2. heyjude Says:

    Bring it on and evolve with creativity. Mixing it up could change up so much next season.

    Joe I have one question about the Robison hire, did the Bucs dupe us all? Did they really want to hire McDaniel or was it just to appease the fan base. My reason for asking about this is, when you look at this hire, too many pieces connect. It seem to be that Robison not only had worked Mayfield but also the OL , RB and at least one or two more of the Bucs offensive coaches

  4. BuccaDAWG Says:

    It’s good to see the forward progress by the Bucs. I hope Coach Robinson builds a strong solid offense & Offensive staff.i got a feeling the Buccs will need it cause I personally 5don’t have a whole lot of faith in the Bowles defense or faith.in our Rock Star GM to be able to draft the adequate talent to have a Championship Team..in fact unless the 1Buc place brain trust needs to make a couple of BIGTIME SPLASH Defenseive hires just to win the complete confidence of BUCNation . Hope I’m being hard on the people who the Glaziers have task with rebuilding a Defense that hasn’t worked well for a few seasons. But like I have sinse the late 70’s or early 80’s I’ll be there screaming like a good member of the Krewe ready to be proven wrong & ready to be a fan of the SB favorite ##. It all depends on the reload & how well thos Buccs staff foes. GOOOOO BUCS!!!!

  5. Lessismore Says:

    Glad they kept Carberry – he did quite a job on a patchwork OLine last year.

  6. Popmike66 Says:

    As I said before, I think the Bucs duped us but, I am good with the Robison hire. a lot of familiarity on the offensive staff and it’s seems like the offensive scheme will be similar

  7. Scotty Mack Says:

    Zampese was Baker’s QB coach when he had his solid rookie year at Cleveland in 2018. He was not with the team the following season when the Browns and Baker had a down year. At the time, some Browns websites speculated that Zampese was the real driving force behind that year’s successful Browns offense.

  8. Coconut Doughnut Says:

    Can we get Tyler Algiers?

  9. BuccaDAWG Says:

    I like the hires & hope the offense is strong enough to do the heavy lifting early season & maybe all season.i think 1Buc may have duped us talking about major changes in the Defense, like the old statement “You can’t teach a old dog new tricks” the Glaziers, our GM , & Bowels were just shooting a line if BS about hiring a DC imo, maybe they will hire a DC in name only, a figure head but until we see a BIGTIME hiring of a Edge rusher who isnt past hi6s prime & scares the heck out of the opponents it will be the same ole same ole Defense. Prove me wrong BUCS , PLEASE!!!! Also let’s see if our GM can evaluate LBers cause we need to get better all across.our front7

  10. Crazyhorse54 Says:

    Now, TB and JL can find a DC and staff. Oh, BTW, a new HC would great as well.

  11. jw94buc Says:

    Hiring an OC with play calling experience. Is good for everyone. Todd can focus on the only thing he should worry about, his defense. Stay out of the offenses room completely. Only thins Todd needs is to understand his own errors from Robinson. Why he gets owned by the falcons and rams yearly. Todd can’t use the clsvapegoat of being hindered by an inexperienced offensive playcaller this year. He either figures out his defense, or the whole roster is getting blown up. Unless Robinson averages 30 pts a game. Then he may be able to take over play calling duties. If they fire Bowles during the season. All hypotheticals. But seem logical and within reason. We need a Gruden disciple. Like Mcvay,Tomlin etc.

  12. Scotty Mack Says:

    I’ll second the vote for signing Tyler Allgeier. He’s got a lot of Playoff Lenny in him. He can get the tough yards at the goal line and third/fourth and short. Like Fournette, Tyler Allgeier has NEVER FUMBLED in his four years in the NFL with 737 touches.

  13. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    I know it’s a long shot, but I wouldn’t be opposed to making a move for WR Keon Coleman – send Buffalo a 2027 fourth-round pick (conditional third if he hits incentives). Then attack free agency hard by bringing in RB Breece Hall and TE Kyle Pitts.

    That kind of offensive talent infusion would give Zac Robinson some serious weapons to work with and transform our red zone efficiency overnight.

  14. Colin in Canada Says:

    Im concerned about the bucs Oline switching to an outside zone run scheme which they have not been very good at over the last few years. Hopefully Robinson will play to our linemen’s skill set

  15. Baking with Robinson Says:

    Robison got an upgrade overall with our offensive players. Algiers would add to this group in place of white. The ingredients are mostly in place to start Baking some Touchdowns.

    LFG!!!

  16. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Potential Young Offensive Core:

    Running Backs:
    * RB Breece Hall (24)
    * RB Bucky Irving (23)
    * RB Sean Tucker (24)

    Wide Receivers:
    * WR Keon Coleman (22)
    * WR Emeka Egbuka (23)
    * WR Jalen McMillan (24)
    * WR Tez Johnson (23)

    Tight End:
    * TE Kyle Pitts Sr. (25)

  17. Geno711 Says:

    Luvmybucs —

    Don’t mind the Bucs rolling the die with Keon Coleman — but 4th rounder seems too high based upon production so far. He clearly had the opportunity to succeed in Buffalo and failed. 1174 snaps last two years. This year, he was 110th in yards per target in the NFL and 5th among Buffalo WR and TE’s in yards per target. What is his upside 50th in the NFL? and his downside out of the league.

    Now, I am with you that a new location might do him well but really, he feels more like someone that the Philly GM would get for next to nothing — giving up a 6th round draft pick and maybe even getting a Buffalo 7th back for.

    Don’t talk to me about college — NFL GMs have two years of NFL tape to make a better decision.

  18. Doctor Buc Says:

    Would prefer to trust Licht with drafting a good wr rather than coleman. Pitts might be a real possibility with Robinson coming. Offense would be like a Madden team

  19. Rob in Land O Lakes Says:

    As the self-appointed leader of the “Run Todd Bowles out of town on a rail “Fan Club, this is not a bad hire in the least, given he is from the McVey tree and has a connection to Baker. Of course if Todd brought in a competent DC, that might save his job…. but NOBODY knows more defense that Todd/

At the time, some Browns websites speculated that Zampese was the real driving force behind that year’s successful Browns offense.

    Bakers best year with the Browns was 2020 when they won a playoff game. He did have a decent rookie year in 2018 when Zampese was there but he was not the reason for Bakers success in 2020.

  21. Outrigger Says:

    With Rashaad leaving I’m all for picking up Tyler Algiers. Think he’ll come a lot cheaper than Hall, although I’d be fine with him if they can get him at a descent price.

  22. Outrigger Says:

    Needs for 2026:
    Offense: Tight end, running back, Oline guard depth
    Defense: Outside linebacker (at least 2), inside linebacker (at least 2), defensive line (future replacement for Vea), cornerback (Zion sucks and Morrison can’t stay healthy, Dean is gone)

  23. Outrigger Says:

    I forgot to mention a competent backup quarterback

  24. HeavyE Says:

    It doesn’t matter, we still have baker…..

  25. Lightningvinny1 Says:

    Why are we all letting Bucs off the hook on defense ,, we need a DC,,, this is Bowles downfall trying to DC and HC at the same time.. Let’s stick with the Rams theme and hire Raheem back,,,, we are putting all this time into offensive coaches when the D is our biggest weakness ,,, maybe Joe can start banging the drum every day till we get defense help,, Bowles schemes are outdated and ineffective to today’s offenses ,, remember our late great DC kiffen,, he was great till he wasn’t , Bowles is at that point

  26. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    @Geno711

    You’re dead on about the production and price. 110th in yards per target isn’t a slump—it’s a failure. And 1,174 snaps is a massive NFL sample size.

    Where I disagree isn’t the outcome, but the diagnosis.

    You’re evaluating those snaps as “opportunity.” I’m evaluating them as misuse. Buffalo deployed a 4.62 contested-catch specialist as a vertical boundary X, asking him to separate 20+ yards downfield. That’s schematic malpractice.

    The tape doesn’t say “this player can’t play.” It says “this player can’t play that role.”

    Buffalo vs. Tampa
    The Mismatch: Buffalo forced him into a deep-threat role (9-routes/posts) where his 2.9 yards average separation gets exposed. He got 4 red-zone targets all season despite being 6’3″ elite contested-catch specialist. Result: 67/960/8 over two years, public scapegoating.

    The Reality: He’s a red-zone specialist who dominates 0–15 yards. At FSU, he posted 11 TDs in Mike Norvell’s system—which is schematically identical to Zac Robinson’s (RPO quick game, condensed formations, big slot usage).

    You’re banking on a 22-year-old distressed asset (same age as 2026 rookies) with 2 years of cheap control for a 2027 6th-rounder. Bringing a Louisiana kid back South to the exact system where he was First-Team All-ACC

    Every leadership wants people under them who have already established communication and understanding things the same way.

  28. BakerFan Says:

    Sounds like this is Atlanta Falcons SOUTH team…. doesn’t do much for me.

  29. Beeej Says:

    Maybe this guy can show Todd why his defense is so easily exposed

  30. buccintimeforchanges Says:

    Falcons south? Losers bringing in more losers.

    I’m sure this will totally work out. Sad AF

  31. Buddha Says:

    If you liked Coen, you should love Robinson. Same socialization but Coen called plays at Kentucky and Robinson had #6 offense in NFL. Also will likely run similar offense.as Rams. Good hire. Give credit where credit is due. Atlanta lost their best offensive lineman in Preseason and never recovered.

  32. BuxfaninTX Says:

    Zampese was with Baker in Cleveland his rookie season

  33. Joe Says:

    Did they really want to hire McDaniel or was it just to appease the fan base.

    Bucs wanted Mike McDaniel because they thought he was the best candidate.

  34. Bucman Says:

    Look back at the season. How many games did the defense lose????? Need more than Bowles to fix it unless they can score 50 points per game.

  35. Joe Says:

    Maybe this guy can show Todd why his defense is so easily exposed

    That’s Joe’s hope.

  36. Rocket10 Says:

    Disappointed to hear that they didn’t hire quarterback guru Rod Munch

  37. Ugo Says:

    Ok, but what about the real problem with this team, its defensive staff. We have heard almost nothing on that side of the ball except that Todd “defensive guru” Bowles was staying on as HC and DC. What about the several other coaches that were thrown under the bus to spare Todd? Are we replacing them? Were any interviews done on that side of the ball?
