What Do Bucs Fans Want?

December 31st, 2025

Is it time to draft a defensive playmaker or is it time to roll the dice in the playoffs where weird things happen?

That is a question Nick Wize of WDAE-AM 620 posed to Bucs fans this week.

This is one of the weirdest conundrums Joe has ever seen. A good number of Bucs fans don’t want the Bucs to make the playoffs. Joe suspects that’s because Todd Bowles is so unpopular, fans figure missing the postseason improves the chances that Team Glazer fire him.

Of course, when Dan Marino was a young quarterback coming off a Super Bowl loss, so many fans across the NFL thought it was only a matter of time before the great Marino would return to the Super Bowl.

He never did.

So would the gods of football frown on Bucs fans for turning their noses up on a playoff berth, and then curse the Bucs with another Lost Decade or worse

Joe gets what Wize is saying. Per NFL.com, the Bucs potentially could get the No. 11 pick in the draft after this weekend’s games. If that happened, Joe sure hopes Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht gets either stud Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese or Auburn edge rusher Keldric Faulk?

Pick 11 draft an edge rusher and fire Bowles or limp into playoffs and keep him which do you want

  1. Colonel Angus Says:

Good thing is we can hope the Bucs win on Saturday, and the Falcons win on Sunday. That way you don’t have to directly root for your team to lose.

  2. Truth be Told Says:

We want a competitive team that has a defense that can at least get off the field sometimes the third down. It’s very hard to watch this team this year. This head coach is the pulse of this team. We’ve seen what he’s got. It’s time.

  3. Hail2dabucs Says:

As a fan , when you don’t trust your defense to win a game yet your head coach is supposed to be some defensive guru . It is time..we have all seen it . I’ve known it’s time for him to go ever since he called cover zero & let kupp blow right by . Since then , his defense has been garbage..bye bye toad , we don’t want you here !

  4. pancake block Says:

Marino never went back to the superbowl because of Tom Olivadotti, a dreadful defensive coordinator that Don Shula wouldnt cut loose, regardless of how bad his play calling was.
Saturdays loss cant come fast enough before Mr Magoo walks the plank.

  5. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Win every damn game no matter what. I will NEVER want us to lose for any reason.

  6. heyjude Says:

Hoping we win big on Saturday. They need to make a statement at home.

  7. Nicholas Carlson Says:

I want them to win 45-0 and go on a run to the NFC championship game

  8. BayouBullet Says:

“So would the gods of football frown on Bucs fans for turning their noses up on a playoff berth, and then curse the Bucs with another Lost Decade or worse”

What the hell does this Joe think winning 2 games out of 10 feels like The lost decade began the moment Liam left. Keep circling the wagons Joe all you want real fans have had enough of the Todd clown show.

  9. Joe Says:

    Tom Olivadotti

    Tom Awfuldotti.

Didn’t he have a Mike Smith-Dirk Koetter-like relationship with Shula?

  10. Marine Buc Says:

    “What do Buc fans want?”

It’s very simple – we want another Super Bowl.

I highly doubt that the combination of Baker Mayfield, Grizz and Todd Bowles are able to accomplish that task…

Winning the NFC South is a freaking joke at this point.

  11. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

ILB Sonny Styles and/or Nihkai Hill-Green
    OG Micah Morrison
    CB DJ McKinney

And a handful of OLBs from this draft class

  12. Ballwin Bucs Fan Says:

There’s another reason not to want the Bucs to make the playoffs … to avoid another 34-7 national embarrassment spanking at the hands of Sean McVay’s Rams. Would that be worth dropping draft position for?!?!

  13. Ultra Clodhopper Says:

I just want the torture to stop.

  14. Allen Lofton Says:

If there’s no change by the Glazers, it will cost them dearly next year…like fan attendance at the games just for starters.

Are the players complacent because they feel abandoned by the Glazers, poor coaching … what is it?

The owners stand to lose alot of money. Their silence is understandable for now, but honest answers and evaluation must be front and center in 2026.

Finally, it Brady was still on the team what would he do. He set the standard for the players so the Glazers need to uphold the Brady standard

  15. Pewter Power Says:

Enough living of the past. 2020 was a long time ago. BA needs to go, Bowles needs to go and take his old decrepit arse coaching staff with him. This is beating a dead horse and it’s time to reload

  16. Bradinator Says:

I’ll never root against us. That said, I’d be hard pressed to find a team less deserving of a playoff spot than us over the last two months.

  17. SB~LV Says:

Whatever it takes to get a higher draft pick!
Ronde as the next GM !
John Mateer QB somehow someway ( obviously not with the first pick)

  18. DS Says:

    Arvell Reese looks like Parsons!

  19. BrianBucs Says:

The vast majority of Bucs fans want Bowles gone.
We will see if the opinions of Bucs fans mean anything to the Glazers

  20. Stpetematt Says:

To win the Super Bowl. Let’s do it!

  21. Stpetematt Says:

I doubt either Ariel Reese or CJ Allen will be available when we pick.

  22. BelleGladeBuc Says:

I’ve lived in Tampa for many years and been a Bucs fan since then. I’ve been a fan through the good times and bad times. There are many alternatives for the entertainment dollar in the Tampa Bay Area. When the Bucs are bad, the fans, including myself don’t spend our money on tickets and merchandise, choosing to spend our money on more enjoyable entertainment alternatives. Keeping the status quo for next year will result in decreased profits for the Bucs. If they make the playoffs fans will sell their tickets and it will look like a home game for the visiting team. That’s the reality. Change is needed.

  23. AMI_Chris Says:

If I’m a Panther fan, I’m happy with the incremental progress the team is making with a new, first-time HC and a young QB. As a Buc fan, I’ve seen tremendous regression. I’ve been watching football for longer than Lavante David has been alive but I don’t know if it’s a coaching problem or a talent problem. On offense, the talent seems to be there. But when your HC is a defensive “genius” and your defense stinks, time to make a change.

  24. Jeremy121182 Says:

offensive minded head coach are defefinsive minded one cant stop a noise bleed.

  25. 1sparkybuc Says:

I want to feel excited about this team for 2026 and beyond. Todd Bowles at HC/DC crushes that. I’ve watched this team for 50 years. Todd Monken has the demeanor and the experience to resurrect this team imo. This ship has the sails. It just needs a functioning rudder.

  26. RagingBrisket Says:

Bucs fans want competitive football that includes not sweating every 3rd down on offense and not watching guys consistently running wide aas open at all three levels of the defense all game long.
    Too much to ask?

  27. Bucfanforever Says:

I want the Bucs to win 5 more games this season. Then 20 games next season and 20 games the following 2 seasons. Then Bowles contract is up. 65 more wins and then retire. Let’s f go!

  28. Buc Wild Says:

Want to win Saturday, Saints win Sunday, get blown out in the Wild Card round then have Bowles fired. That’s the dream scenario.

  29. Rick Says:

My wishes, new head coach and staff. Feel very confident in Mike Lafleur the Rams OC. 1ST round Sonny styles, 2nd Gabe Jacas. Please go watch his film, especially a recent video on his college experience, family etc. This young man has it. I’m 60 yo and really bad health, but if these 3 things happen? Im ready to run through walls for next season.

  30. PanhandleBuc Says:

Hate to say it but thinking BIG PICTURE – lose in embarrassing fashion on Saturday and watch the Saints beat the Falcons as extra salt on the Bucs wounds. That should convince the Glazers to jettison this awful coaching staff AND get us a top 12 pick!

  31. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Forever

    Math not your strong suit?

  32. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Marine Buc

First things first. I want a defense with balls, one that’s not an embarrassment. After all, Defense wins championships.

  33. Stallworth Says:

    3rd and 28 -> 4th and 14 -> need a new coach

  34. Lessismore Says:

    I just want to see….
A defense that flies to the ball.
    A defense that can tackle.
A defense that can create turnovers.
A defense that can close out a game.
A defense that is fundamentally sound.
A special teams return for a touchdown (every other year) our touchdown not the opposing team.
Another 1,000 yard season for M1K3.
An Offensive that looks to be on the same page.

And I just want to watch the Bucs play good football.

  35. GaBucinRH Says:

I want a new HC, a new OC, a new special teams coach, a new safety, a new LB, a Sean Tucker carrying the ball more, a defense that attacks the ball, no more BA, accountability, leaders, a new attitude, less Bucky, a new 1 year contract for Evans,a new TE, a FB like Ricard from Ravens, a solid backup QB, a sack, maybe a interception every once in awhile, oohh oohh a third down stop!!!! Too much?

  36. GaBucinRH Says:

Oh yeah, a normal kickoff where maybe the opposing team starts before the 35….

  37. Bucfanforever Says:

    Jmark
5 this season – Panthers, wild card, division, conference, Super Bowl
20 next season (2026)- 17 regular season, division, conference, Super Bowl
20 next TWO seasons after that ( 2027 & 2028)- 17 regular season, division, conference, Super Bowl

    5 + 20 + 20 + 20 =65 wins

  38. Mobucs Says:

43% of self-identified Bucs fans “want to be” losers and will be disappointed if “their” team wins. Why don’t y’all just root for the Browns or Jets?

  39. Cleanhouse Says:

I don’t think it matters to the ownership what the fans want and see.

  40. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Forever

    Good luck with that.

  41. Mike Johnson Says:

We want Bowles gone. And we want a Defense we can be proud of. Our current Defense sucks to Holy Hell and beyond.

  42. Boltsfan17 Says:

Any honest Bud fan wants a complete house cleaning right down to the security guard at the front gate. Anything less is a waste of time. Licht shouldn’t be allowed within 50 miles of any draft board.

  43. Tampa2ATL Says:

I want to WIN this game and another NFC South Title. Changing coaches is loser talk until after season is over – which it is NOT.
Joe always talks about The Lost Decade like it was the first or only 10 years of Bucs living in the basement.
Team history and community pride are bigger than any one person – whether it be a coach or an understandably frustrated fan who is convinced that they know the answer (which NO ONE does for sure because nothing is EVER guaranteed).
Just win this ONE. MOFO. GAME. Do it for Tampa. Do it for yourself. Do it for your kids. Do it for Bowles. Do it for God. Do it because you’re a warrior. A professional bada$$. But, for the love of St Pete, JUST DO IT. WIN THIS ONE GAME.

  44. Rod Munch Says:

Seriously, not even trolling, what QBs are available? I thought this was supposed to be a strong QB class, but I don’t see a ton of buzz and a lot of depth in mock drafts. I’m still hoping for playoffs, so I haven’t started looking at the draft yet, hopefully I can put it off a few more weeks – but QB is clearly the top spot of need for Tampa. If they had a QB this last month, they’d have secured the playoffs weeks ago.

Funny how wanting competent coaching suddenly makes someone a “loser.” Some of us actually expect more than vibes and excuses. That’s called standards, not rooting against the team.

  46. MadMax Says:

Arvell is top 5, but we have a chance at his teammate Sonny Styles….

And of course I’d love for us to win and go far into the playoffs, but I know reality with Todd.

Who else notices all of his schemes has our D drop into coverage into the open part of the field instead of actually covering someone, a big play is made, and then the players look at each other all confused throwing their hands up like “what happened”. Thats why we’ll never get anywhere with him.

Just keep running to the open space, thats where you need to be!!!!
Its fn stupid!!! Never in my life seen a D this bad!!!

    ———-

If Baker doesn’t play like trash the last 4 weeks, the Bucs win ALL of those games and secured the playoffs already and are resting guys.

I’m not the only one that knows that – and it’s why even with you so-called fans wanting the Bucs to lose and miss the playoffs – Bowles still might be here next year.

How about instead of some 1D chess, how about just rooting for the team to win and see how everything plays out. The stupid idea that Bowles is responsible for these loses is pure nonsense, it falls on one guy, Baker Mayfield. If he was even as good as Mike Glennon this last month, at worst they’ve have gone 3-1 and no one is talking about Bowles.
