Tristan Wirfs Says He’ll Play Saturday

December 31st, 2025

The big man will return.

The Bucs sure missed legendary No. 78 at left tackle on Sunday at Miami. They also missed playing with heart and fire and focus on every snap.

Tristan Wirfs has turf toe after tearing a toe ligament under a big toe 10 days ago during the game at Carolina, he said today.

Wirfs got an injection in his toe recently, he said, and will good to go for the Carolina rematch on Saturday. He’s happy to be back on grass and do what he can to help the Bucs win.

It’s hard to believe Wirfs is already wrapping up his sixth NFL season. More than half his career could be over. This was his most injury-plagued year, missing five games.

Hope he can get the chance to get healthy. Sucks to have turf toe. Sucks even more that we are such a bad team that him returning and us winning might not be enough to make the playoffs. I am really disappointed in this season, the coach, the GM refusing to make a trade for the edge rush in favor of JTS, hurt Kancey, and Braswell, and the piss poor special teams. Baker is hurt again? Was he hurt before? Does Kyle Trask give us a better chance at backup than Teddy hospital ball bridge water? Just a bunch of bs this year. 5-1, 6-2, and then losing too many damn games to close it out. Shame on the lot of them. I’d ask Licht what is your plan to address the pass rush not via the draft bc you can’t draft a good edge rusher- as proven through his tenure. Damn it, I’ll root for my team, but I wish they could fly me down there to give them a “Bull Durham” like pep talk, “lollygaggers, the bunch of them!” Our punter and kickoff coverage make me pissed off just thinking about them.

    We should’ve taken care of
Business so we could rest guys, but no, we chose to play gutless football.

  2. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

They’re gonna let his gut wreck his foot to try and win a game they won’t win anyways.

  3. SB~LV Says:

Hope he doesn’t cause further damage, he plays on his toes every snap. I can’t imagine allowing much movement in his shoe , taping tomorrow.

  4. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    I’m happy…change is coming.

  5. Stpetematt Says:

Tearing a toe ligament is a LOOOOONNNNNG TERM INJURY!!! Will take the whole offseason to heal at least!

  6. Vanessa Anne Says:

I have mixed feelings about this.

I want us to win and having Tristan on the field certainly helps.

But, with the way we’ve been playing, I’m more concerned he does more damage to his toe in what ultimately proves to be a futile effort.

I’ll say this again, the Bucs need to take a good look at their training staff. I am well aware that NFL football is a tough hard hitting game but, there is not 1 Buc player that has not been out with injuries, multiple times each player. Mayfield has played but, he’s been injured most of the season.

  8. NCbucfan Says:

Do not risk his long term health. Bowles is most likely coaching his last game for us, so why would he care. The Glazers made need to step in and make the best call. I don’t trust this coaching or training staff.

  9. HC Grover Says:

    Desperation at 1 Buc

  10. JohnQCitizen Says:

    And Dean will not play.

  11. Daryl Green Says:

Ohh he got turf 10days ago and took an injection ? ok so he played against Atlanta with turf toe ? sat the Miami game. Now is ready to play again. Ok got it. Perfect.
Hey Maxx your Raiders was playing for the first pick, they sent you home why you mad big Crosby😉

  12. Colonel Angus Says:

    Oh course he’ll play, he’s a professional.

  13. Daryl Green Says:

Ohh Dean is not playing ? Of course he’s not playing.

  14. Rod Munch Says:

Can you believe just a week ago people were actually saying Chewbacca would replace Wirfs? LOL! Wirfs is literally the best offensive lineman in the league, 26 years old, and people want to replace him with an UDFA. Very dumb takes.

With that said, for all the bashing of Chewy, I didn’t think he was very bad from what I saw, and I think he’ll actually end up playing in the NFL for a long time, even if it’s only as a backup. But come on, getting Wirfs back is yuge.

  15. Daryl Green Says:

Oh yea understand playing against Chubbs would put more pressure on on that Toe. Hey did Chubbs get a strip sack for a fumble? I can’t re-call.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🤙🏾

  16. BPBucsfan Says:

Guess I can’t comment on here anymore. Can’t say Glazers won’t fire Bowles because they’d have to buy out his contract. Circle the wagons!!

  17. BPBucsfan Says:

    Ok, that went through. 😄

  18. adam from ny Says:

the big man is back…toe and all…ready to ball and maul…

ultimately no one can replace big #78

  19. Dewey Selmon Says:

Might as well play. He’s not going to have another game for 9 months.

  20. MelvinJunior Says:

@ SteveK – Na, there’ll be another 1000+ Bowles articles to discuss over and over again, before JL gets held to any account about all of his inexcusable, just HORRENDOUS moves. It’s really absurd. EVEN, TK and SR ‘admitted’ on WDAE the other day, that all of this has JL’s fingerprints written all over it! They’re RIGHT. 92-108. We’ve seen this movie before, pre-Brady and now, post-Brady. We already know WHAT we’re getting, & it’s NOT good enough, or even CLOSE. He is what he is. And, you CAN’T just continue giving HIM a ‘lifetime’ PASS for getting “lucky” by having that special relationship with B.A.

  21. Lakeland Says:

Sound like a Big Carl Nicks toe

  22. Brooks Says:

    Why

  23. MelvinJunior Says:

I guess Ol’ Bake is more worried with trying to be a Movie Star LoL. I just saw him in his ‘newest’ commercial for the first time, before the Miami-Ohio State game tonight haha. If he keeps playing ‘the way’ he has been, then his BIG Hollywood career Lmao won’t be very far off. LoL
