Saints Knock Off Panthers 20-17

December 14th, 2025

Man, Joe needs a shower after rooting for the slimy Saints today against the Panthers.

What an ugly game in New Orleans but the Saints rallied and played good ball in the second half to ruin the Panthers’ day. The Saints kicked a game-winning field goal to walk-off with the win 20-17.

The Saints (4-10) stopped the Panthers on a critical 4th-and-1 late in the game. Sound familiar? And Saints edge rusher Chase Young had a key sack.

Carolina (7-7) is now tied with the Bucs atop the NFC South. And Carolina continues to be the most inconsistent team in football. Today, they simply had no firepower. Bryce Young threw for 161 yards despite very limited pressure on him.

If Carolina had won, the Bucs would have been facing a win-or-go-home game against the Panthers in Charlotte next Sunday. That didn’t happen.

Gotta love the Saints going on a two-game winning streak to screw up their draft position.

All I can do is laugh at this point boys I hope we make the playoffs but I really do think we still need a coaching change no matter what

  5. TeeinNC Says:

Wow! This division is so inconsistent. I hope Panthers play like that next week.

  6. nate1976 Says:

    lets win out!!!!!!!!

  7. Bucs 95 Says:

The saints calling a QB draw with 12 seconds left and no timeouts left was crazy and even more crazy the panthers commit a dumb penalty after too put them in field goal range 🤣 you cant make this stuff up its like nobody wants too win this crusty division

  8. Oneilbuc Says:

Time to refocus let’s win this division!!

  9. Blows sux Says:

Don’t get too excited Blows is still our head coach. Im sure he’s already working on how to lose the next game

  10. buc4evr Says:

So what? Unless the Bucs man up it means nothing. How will this team respond?

  11. Mobucs Says:

Once again, the NFC South proves to be the toughest division in the NFL from top to bottom.

Next Sunday is going to be very interesting just when I was out on this team here we go getting 1 more shot

No. Still 3 total games to play for both teams. –Joe

    Panthers beat Bucs
    Seahawks beat Panthers
    Dolphins beat Bucs
Winner takes all in week 18.

Just as I predicted over a month ago.

  16. Lightningvinny1 Says:

We win 2 of 3, any 2 of three and we are in ,,, do we deserve it ,, maybe not , but who cares ,,, can’t win if your not in tourney ,,, Plus they play Seahawks so a split may do it

  17. nate1976 Says:

Bucs better go in carolina an kick a.. next week!

  18. DBS Says:

Baker and the offense will have to win it. No way in Hell the defense will be of any help. Offense will have to overcome Bowles and Gizz.

  19. Oneilbuc Says:

Kstoge. I agree 💯 percent bro time for Baker and Bowles to and this defense to step up now . All we have to do is beat the Panthers one time now because of the Seahawks win we get the tie breaker.

  20. Bosch Says:

If the Bucs don’t beat the Panthers next week it will be on the coaching staff, not the players.

  21. Biggun Says:

Well i hope the Panthers enjoyed their two day first place position lol 😉

  22. stucbuc Says:

    The season from hell

  23. BUCDADDY Says:

Still rooting for the Bucs next weekend. We got bailed out, and luck has went our way big time. Now, if this doesn’t motivate this team to secure a playoff spot, I don’t know what will. We control our destiny right now, but we really can’t afford another loss. We have to win out, which means our defense has to step up next week. GO BUCS!!!

  24. Hodad Says:

Watch their offense come alive against Todd’s defense.

  25. Lightningvinny1 Says:

I’m very excited for the Bucs but make no mistake ,,, Moore is by far the best coach in the division ,,, I like Todd so he still has a lifeline thanks to Kellen

  26. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

It would be a perfect cherry on the top of this season for our beloved Bucs to win the next three games, pull off the round 1 upset and be competitive in a loss in round 2.

Then we can all yell at each other for the next 9 months. LOL

  27. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Baker and Bowles are playing for their careers the next three weeks.

  28. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

On my way to check out the Panthers chat room. That has to be hilarious

  29. adam from ny Says:

yep this one’s coming down to week 18 at ray jay…

    whoda thunk…!

  30. OneAndThree Says:

Young will have 400 yards and four TDs next Sunday in a rout of the Bucs.

It’s impossible to calculate just how awful the NFC South really is.

Only in this division does Bowles manage to keep his job.

I fear we could get stuck in limbo for another three years.

Never fear though. Bowles has taken this defense down to a level that even a good offense can’t paper over.

31-17 Panthers next week. Then we get beat by the Dolphins and it’s finally over.

    —-

Who are the Bucs replacing Baker with?? Name some alternatives.

  32. Danfan Says:

Won’t matter even if we stumble into the playoffs if we continue to play as bad as we have been, will just be pummelled and everyone outside will say they always expected us to be one-and-done, coming out of the bad NFC South.

Even if we win the next three in a row, I’ll have no expectations if the offence continues to misfire, and the defence continues to give up big scores and plays consistently.

  33. Cometowin2 Says:

You say there’s a chance… Still want Bowles fired even if we make the playoffs.

  34. Pewter Power Says:

The NFC South is a disaster. Once again the Bucs fate is in their own hands, we’ll see if they can stay motivated more than one game in a row

  35. Cometowin2 Says:

Unless wins next three and goes deep in the playoffs. Like NFC Championship game at least.

  36. Inwoodjeremy Says:

I didn’t really think it would happen but it did. I hope Bucs prove me wrong Sunday also. That’s what I hate about a loss on TNF or before bye. Just smolder extra days before you get a chance at redemption.

  37. Texican Buc Says:

We need to be ready for Shough next year – cause hes the real deal.

Best for Shough is he faces Bowles twice per year for the next few years and he’ll have a montage of highlights to leverage for his next contract.

  38. Winny Testaverde Says:

That was enjoyable. Can-do Canales going for it instead of taking a 2 score lead with a FG. Looks like The Panthers don’t like playing after a bye either.

  39. MikeBuc Says:

A certain group in these comments the last few days are very nervous now.

  40. NCbucfan Says:

The NFC south. The Short bus division

  41. Deeboooo Says:

Playoffs could start week 18. Hope this resets the team and gets them hyped

  42. Colonel Angus Says:

Bucs just got an opportunity, let’s see if they seize it. “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!”

  43. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

    From the Panthers forum:

It’s obvious at this point. When NO rookie QB’s can make throws into the middle of the field for first down after first down, but our 3rd year QB gets these weird play calls that can’t find a single person open, it’s not on Bryce. It’s obviously coaching. So tired of this poo.

Did one of you sneak over there and post something? Something about this sounds familiar…….

  44. Bartow Buc Says:

Always believe in my Buccaneers no matter what !! Especially with ME13, CG 14, and McMillan all back in the game !!Also, it sure feels a lot better knowing the Saints defeated the Panthers !!

    Go Bucs !!

  45. BassCrazy Says:

BURN the Orange uniforms, throwaway and don’t throw back !!!!

  46. TheVerv7 Says:

Bucs will sneak into the playoffs by the hair on their sacks and Bowles will get another extension. Bucs life.

  47. Saskbucs Says:

This is great and I want the Bucs to win the division but don’t fool yourself, Young is going for 250+ and multiple TDs next week vs this Bucs D.

I hope I am wrong and they finally decide to sack up and play inspired ball but I am certainly not getting my hopes up.

Let’s hope Baker gets his stuff together and the offense is hungry ready to put up points every week here on out.

  48. Rick Says:

So what. We won’t win again this year.

  49. Bokeh Says:

Nice sack by Young from the edge late. Hope the Bucs can do that next week.

  50. Capt Ahab Says:

If the Bucs defense doesn’t step up then this team isn’t beating anybody.
Bowles is supposed to be a defensive guru, let’s see it next week against the Panthers.

  51. FortMyersDave Says:

So Canales knows how to choke, just like Todd. I am not getting my hopes up because Bryce Young has has 3 good games this season, 2 were against the Falcons, he will probably carve up the Bucs’ D next Sunday foor his fourth as Bowles will not change a thing on defense. He is all words and no actions because he does not what to do. If he did, whe would have done something already. Only hope for Tampa is if Baker gets the Bucs 35+ points and even then I could see the Bucs losing 41-38 or something like that because of Todd Bowles.

  52. B Says:

Yea Bucs 95 that designed QB draw at midfield with 9 seconds and no timeouts was absolute bonkers. We just try to repeatedly hand games to each other in this division.

  53. Oneilbuc Says:

Chucky. Draft a quarterback and let him sit behind Baker until he’s ready that’s why Green Bay always a contender. Because they can build the rest of their team on both sides of the ball and when it’s the young quarterback time to play he will have a team around him that’s how you sustain susess.

  54. Saskbucs Says:

This better be an eat your cake and have it to situation. Win the division, maybe win a playoff game (hopefully win the SB!) and make a coaching change still!

Haha I can prolly live with Bowles another year if they won the SB or even got there but anything short of that and we need a new guy or at least a new DC! Everyone and their mother knows it.

  55. FootBall1 Says:

WOW, thought I saw that score but could not believe it!!. Man nobody wants to win this division. All these teams are just bad period. No wonder people want to change the playoffs from the division winner automatically qualifying tor the playoffs!!!. Their is not a team in this division that should even remotely qualify for the playoffs.
Well the Bucs get another chance, hard to imagine, but ok.
Hopefully they don’t embarass themselves next week losing with another 3rd and 28. However, we have seen anything is possible.
Yes Go Bucs. However if we do manage to out last the Panthers for the playoffs, we may still be embarrassed once in. The only possibility, the offense somehow finds 2 guards that can play and they score 50 plus points and can avert 3rd and 28. How about 3rd and 48 may be the key.

  56. dbbuc711 Says:

Didn’t think Saints would win but glad they did.
Wonder is Bucs-Panthers next wee.k will get flexed

  57. Oneilbuc Says:

I’ve been saying this a long time now but Todd Bowles got to go next year or less we get to the NFC Championship. It’s still NFC Championship or bust no more excuses I’m not changing that.

  58. Ex-Browns02 Says:

The Saints are the toughest team in the division right now.

  59. adam from ny Says:

yes this could be like a hard reset of some sort…

divine intervention from the sports Gods or something…

    i mean……you never know

  60. Tampa2ATL Says:

Who Dat! Credit to NOLA for playing hard all year (vs ATL who tried to give us the game, but alas…).
-> Vs TB too puking all over the field for last two months. Can we get our beloved Bucs pull their collective heads from their bruised buttcheeks in time to save the season?

  61. David Says:

Part of me wants to be optimistic, they now hold their destiny in their own hands, but they just lost at home to two horrible teams. Could’ve put both of them away and didn’t. Could’ve held both of them at the end and didn’t.
The coach is throwing the team under the bus and not taking responsibility, his defensive scheme is just not getting the job done… Week after week.
The offense continues to stall horrifically at times. Baker is just not as accurate this year because of injuries as he was last year.
The play from the guards is horrendous.

But….. The talent level is there. They can still go deep in the playoffs.

  62. NYbucsfan Says:

That loss by Carolina does not help us get rid of the dead weight AKA our head coach that’s for sure. I’ll give it to Todd he’s got nine lives he’s like the nightmare that won’t end.

  63. adam from ny Says:

teams peak…like i’m sure payton would like his broncos to take a loss around now, then turn back up, to roll into the playoffs…

trajectories change…maybe this will cool off the panthers

  64. MikeBuc Says:

“Especially with ME13, CG 14, and McMillan all back in the game !!”

with ten days rest and Knowing They have to win the game with no help from the defense. Its all on griz to come up with a winning gameplan

  65. Show Me the TDs Says:

Defense needs to grow a pair and Baker needs to get his head out of his a$$. Keys to the game.

  66. adam from ny Says:

this was a real slap up side the head to the panthers…

and right before the big bucs game…

a real knock you down a peg type loss…one that makes a team question them selves, like as if you were a buccaneer haha lol

  67. Stuck with Green Says:

Not sure why anyone in our fanbase would be happy with another division title and early playoff exit. The only chance we have of progressing is for Bowles to get fired. Unless the team wins the Super Bowl this year, I don’t want to see another year of good start, mid season slump, barely win crap division and early playoff exit. Isn’t 4 years of that enough already?

  68. Show Me the TDs Says:

David, you wrote that the Bucs suck, but can go deep in the playoffs. Which is it?? Haha

  69. Davenport Says:

This changes nothing about the Bucs. They are still a bad, bad football team this year. And Bowles still needs to go.

Reading the comments reveals that more than a few fans are living in a fantasy world — there is no way this team wins a playoff game, let alone makes a run.

  70. Rod Munch Says:

Called it on the night the Bucs lost to the Rams, I said they’d then go east and lose to the Panthers, then the Panthers would end up losing the Saints.

Not about the Panthers being a bad team, they’re just young and inconsistent – the type of team that can be the Rams then get swept by the Saints.

What I was wrong about was thinking Baker would actually show-up these last two weeks and not lose the games by playing like trash. We all know the defense stinks (although the defense more than did its job vs the Saints) and the team was literally built to win on offense. Again, for the 100th time, lets just hope Baker heats up. If he does, if he catches fire, anything can happen – and that’s not just wishful thinking. And for you morons yelling about the defense – well, you win by scoring more points than the opponent, so focus on that, that’s how the team is meant to win and will win if it’s going to win.

  71. Outrigger Says:

Joe, do we still hold the third tie breaker if we split with Carolina and finish the season with the same record?

  75. Zoocomics Says:

    @ Rod… well put.

  76. Rod Munch Says:

    Here’s the playoff picture…

The Bucs win the division if they win at least 2 of the next 3 or if the Bucs beat the Panthers once AND the Panthers lose to the Seahawks.

That’s it, the only scenario where the Bucs make it – and everything is still completely in their hands.

Joe, do we still hold the third tie breaker if we split with Carolina and finish the season with the same record?

    ——–

YES, Bucs have the tie breaker.

  78. Rod Munch Says:

For those wondering, yes the Bucs CAN make the playoffs even if they finish 8-9 – so long as one of those wins is vs the Panthers, then the Panthers lose their other game not vs the Bucs (they play Seattle at home).

  79. Louie Says:

Second chance to get it together!

  80. Hammerhead Says:

So much satisfaction for Bowles haters losing so the Bucs increased their playoff chances.

  81. Obvious Says:

Same question I asked the last few weeks:

Even if we get 2 of the next 3, what do you really think next year will look like. Do you actually think it will turn out any different?

  82. Outrigger Says:

Third tie breaker is record among common opponents. Right now Bucs are 6-5 and Panthers are 5-6. Common opponents remaining are the Dolphins for us and the Seahawks for them. I have a feeling it’s going to come down to the last game of the season at Ray Jay.

  83. adam from ny Says:

rod low key out of pocket, greeted the masses, with an “i told ya so”…lol

  84. adam from ny Says:

    this is not a 2nd chance to get it together…it’s like a 4th or 5th chance 🙂

  85. Scotty Mack Says:

“Wonder is Bucs-Panthers next week will get flexed”

Highly unlikely. There are far more interesting games that will draw much bigger national audiences. The game really means nothing. The Bucs could lose and still win the division by winning the next two. In fact, if I have figured this tie breaker scenario out correctly, the Bucs could lose the next two and still win the division by winning the final game, providing the Panthers lose to Seattle.

  86. adam from ny Says:

lavonte needs to soak his helmet in a smelling salt liquid solution before all remaining games 🙂

  87. Gman Says:

    Bakers 30.. Favre and Rodger’s were 36.

  96. WestCoastBucsFan Says:

As much as losing out on the division would give us a better draft pick and easier schedule next year, I just can’t root for us to lose. I’m hoping we can take 2 of the next 3 and the division and play with some pride. If nothing else then for ME’s sake. I felt so bad for him Thursday night. If this is his last season (I hope not), I want the team to go out winning. LET’S GO BUCS!!!

  99. BUC4L Says:

    Win for Mike! Go Bucs!

  100. Let ‘em bake Says:

Baker was sitting pretty with a 112 passer rating… then the pick happened. Learned my lesson. Wait til the final gun before praising number 6. 😊

  101. Kidfloflo Says:

After 6-2 I thought my season total bet over 9.5 was secure…now.we have to win out!!$$$ im almost more concerned about that than losing in the playoffs round one with a 8 win record

  102. Scotty Mack Says:

BassCrazy: “1-2 wearing the creamsicles this year”

Actually, you got it Bass Akwards, BassCrazy. The Bucs are 2-1 wearing the creamsicles this year. They beat the Jets and Seahawks in the original white creamsicle jerseys and lost to the Falcons in the orange version.

To the best of my knowledge, the Bucs have lost every single time, every year that they have donned the orange creamsicle throwback jerseys.

  103. Capt Ahab Says:

What’s the hatred to this guy Munch, he’s expressing his opinion. If you don’t like his opinion then say so in a productive manner. I personally don’t agree with him all the time, but he is making valid points. It seems he his calling out Mayfield for his poor performance of late. He’s spot on with that in my opinion, Mayfield as of late has been very disappointing, he teases you with a couple good throws, then throws the game away with a terrible throw. Mayfield is inconsistent at best. Absolutely terrible interception late in the fourth quarter of last weeks game. Inexcusable!

  104. Capt Ahab Says:

Let’s stop with the excuses that he is playing injured.

  105. DBS Says:

Capt Ahab. You must not have been here long.
You haven’t seen his name calling with anyone disagree with him.
Also he use to tell people that disagreed to ” get their head caught in a running lawnmower. God bless”. And much more.
You will learn if you stay.

  106. Gipper Says:

Doesn’t matter about Panthers, Bucs aren’t going to compete with their putrid defense. Most of us value the ME13 and CG14 opinion of Mayfield versus Munch opinion. Next year with Mike McCarthy Bucs will rebuild the defensive mess.

  107. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    So…let me get this straight…

Fans want the Bucs to lose so Bowles will be fired
Some fans want the Bucs to win and still fire Bowles.
Others don’t know what the fu…. they want.

Rod is right…Baker has played poorly lately but his early season heroics won several games for us. When that stopped….we stopped winning

  108. TheBigSombreo Says:

Hahaha… now its time to win against the Panthers!

  109. DBS Says:

Also. You aren’t the team doctor and don’t know anymore about Baker’s condition than those expressing their opinion.

  110. firethecannons Says:

I am hopeful now the Bucs got a dose of reality and realize they have been given a slim chance to win the division.

  111. TheBigSombreo Says:

    Just win TB!

And if they don’t…. yeah, no bueno… so win!

  112. Pelsbuc61 Says:

This team will lose out. That’s what these bunch if quitters do. Offense would have to put up 35 to 38 pts each game to have a chance with the honorific Bucs defense.

  113. Gipper Says:

    CaptAhab,

Munch is a legend in his own mind. Will concede that few could high step as well with a clarinet in his high school marching band.
Munch was always envious of the football guys which led to his arrested development.

  114. Capt Ahab Says:

If Mayfield was injured and can’t compete then the Bucs bring in the next guy, ohhh it’s Washed up always injured Bridgewater. The Bucs should have never replaced Kyle Trask with an old washed up, lousy, fragile Bridgewater. That was a move I found ridiculous. Absolutely terrible by Jason Light, Bridgewater has experience they tout. Believing in experience is in the eye of the beholder. Yes Bridgewater does have experience, that experience is not really a productive experience. We could have Ryan Leaf, Dan Mcquire, Akili Smith, Matt Lienart or maybe Jamarcus Russell, they have had experience.
Experience is good and fine, when it’s bad experience what’s the point?

  115. Let ‘em bake Says:

What’s the hatred to this guy Munch, he’s expressing his opinion.

    ————–

That’s just the Baker Boi(s) cult. They display a pathological parasocial fixation on Baker Mayfield. Their attachment appears to have formed after repeated exposure to his television commercials, which produced an artificial sense of familiarity and led them to believe they have a personal relationship with him.

This fixation manifests in compulsive protective behavior. They reflexively defend Mayfield from any criticism, selectively dismiss negative performance data, and have been seen literally rummaging through his trash to remove anything that might reflect poorly on him. Clinically, this pattern is consistent with maladaptive parasocial attachment, commonly observed in individuals who misattribute personal significance or relational meaning to media figures.

  118. MikeBuc Says:

“I personally don’t agree with him all the time, but he is making valid points.”

NO he is not and neither are you. Absolutely no one has stated baker is playing elite level .However

NO objective person jumps over the ATROCIOUS Defense to whine about the QB incessantly. You AND ROD illustrate the agenda driven group that is just obsessed with Baker

Your team (allegedly) took back the lead and have a better chance to get in the playoffs and in thread about THAT you are on your Baker soap box with nothing else to offer. Well besides the silly complaint the most rude and name calling regular poster in this community is being mistreated

bad int? yes. Lost the game? NO. the offense walked off the field for the last time ahead. Much more common for a Qb to throw a pick than a defense to give up 3-28

  119. Conte Piscatelli Says:

No NFC South team deserves to be in the playoffs. They should let the 4th wildcard team take it with at least 10 wins.

  120. Tampabaybucfan Says:

There is no reason to root for your team to lose….mot for a draft pick…not to fire the coach ….not for money (because you bet on the wrong team)

No reason to root for a loss or you’re not a real fan….just an observer.

NO he is not and neither are you. Absolutely no one has stated baker is playing elite level

See what I mean with the Baker Boi(s), it’s a literal mental disorder.

  122. Toddler Bowles Says:

Get Player/Coach Suh in here to get the defense to man up.

  123. Aceofaerospace Says:

No matter how badly the panthers may play next week, we’ll play down to them. We always do.

  124. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

Agree with a deep playoff run or make a coaching change. Panthers loss is awesome and we’re back to playoff talk, and maybe, hopefully, we’ll wake the hell up and make some noise. Missing both stating guards is killing is though. Well, less then our D is.

  125. Curse of Gruden Says:

Dang Munch. Now I need to consult the dictionary.

  126. Lightningvinny1 Says:

Sounds like you all should play the Panthers getting 2 at home next weekend ,,, not me ,,, I’ll put my money on the Bucs next week,,,‘and we are still a big fav to win division and get in the show ,,, once you get in the show who knows

  127. SOFIERCE Says:

Just say no to the playoffs focus on the future fire Todd Bowles!

  128. MikeBuc Says:

    @rod
They display a pathological parasocial fixation on Baker Mayfield.

  129. Bucks 'n' Bucs Says:

What will they do with this gift? I’ll say it again….MUTINY! Maybe Bowles did call a perfect game in the Super Bowl, but he hasn’t since. Time for these professionals to act professional. Stop letting the opponent catch everything and hope you can tackle them. COVER SOMEBODY! Stop giving their quarterback uncontested targets.

  130. jake Says:

if they get in at 8-9 and Seattle beats them close in the wild card round does bowels get fired still?

  131. It's Corn Says:

I believe that based on the Bucs’ edge in common games, the Panthers have to either sweep the Bucs, or split and have TB lose to Miami, while they win at Seattle.

If the Bucs win at Carolina then against Miami, they can rest in Week 18.

Or if Carolina wins against the Bucs and then Seattle, and then the Bucs lose to Miami, the Bucs are out.

  132. It's Corn Says:

Great job this week Bucs! Heroes really

  133. Td Says:

Great position to be in to still have a chance. Still have the overwhelming feeling Toilet Bowles will learn nothing and embarrass this team next Sunday

  134. Allen Lofton Says:

Maybe the Saints are better than we think while the Bucs are not better as we thought.

They only have a few more games left to turn around their season and we will know when the Bucs and Panthers play next Sunday.

The problem is the Buxs and Bowles have some serious issues and neither sides have shown any progress.

Spot on MikeBuc. It makes little sense to believe one player is responsible for the whole team’s play making. Let’s fixate on individual defenders, or a drop pass happy receiver and a lineman that can’t block the wind

  138. Rash Says:

Kstoges 100% correct. Go Bucs can’t root against us to force a change at head coach But it is needed. He has 8 years between 2 teams. He is a 1970 coach stubborn mule

  139. Capt Ahab Says:

Baker is no slouch, he certainly gives his all. With that said he’s not playing winning football lately. Prior to the Atlanta game he was averaging 130 yards a game over the losing streak. You can’t throw a ridiculous interception in the fourth quarter of a close game. Baker has not been clutch lately when the game is on the line. MVP talk has gone by the wayside.
Obviously the most pressing problem with this team is the poor defensive performance, with that said, Baker’s mistake late in a game was detrimental to the outcome against the Falcons.
Some guys are winners. Some are not.

Can the Baker Boi(s) just once come up with a good comeback that isn’t cringe. Is that asking too much? I like a good back and forth and can really enjoy a good insult even at my own expense, so long as it’s funny or witty. Instead it’s constantly a variation of “I know you are but what am I” or some other equally stupid and uninteresting comment.

Seriously, why doesn’t the entire gang there in Cleveland put your heads together and come up with one good, mean, hurtful insult. I swear if it’s a good one I will give you full credit.

  142. Phoenixbuc Says:

Joe with all due respect about the last comment of draft picks why can’t we be like the Rams who say fu$k those draft picks

  143. Todd Says:

    Bucs need a radical prostoddectomy.

  144. SG Says:

Oh shoot! Doesn’t bode well for the Bucs. The panthers will be pissed for loosing the game, and the Bucs defense is perfect recipe for getting their offense back on track.

Oh wait, the Bucs also lost this week, but do the players care enough to:(

  145. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

I’ve got this weird feeling that our Bucs might just come alive down the stretch. Hear me out, and perhaps I’m nuts, with profanity Bowles and some really pissed players (Evans 3-28 as example), we might see some actual fight and some accountability down the stretch. I’d love to hear about a players only meeting happening this week.

IF our Bucs come out pissed, and Baker gets hot – we could make some noise.

Someone here posted about Wirfs moving to LG with Chews playing LT. I support that if Wirfs was up for it. Missing our guards has been brutal.

  146. Ex-Browns02 Says:

Rod: “Baker Boy” checking in here. Yes, do blame Baker as you do expect him to be able to find an open man in 2.12 seconds before his pocket collapses entirely — I agree with your assessment based upon your criteria.

  147. Grizzards 3&Out Says:

We win next week or week 18 and Panthers lose to seahawks in week 17 and we’re in. Bowles is gonna pull another mediocre division championship out of his hat and continue to hold this franchise back.

  148. Ex-Browns02 Says:

Hey — for the rest of you: I previously called out Rod Munch on his man-crush for Baker Mayfield.

I just want you to know, Rod’s just really angry because Baker has been unable to don a cape for him every game.

Don’t worry Rod. Keep the faith. Baker will be your hero.

  149. MelvinJunior Says:

Total embarrassment. Same as every other season for the past four-years. NO ONE wants to actually ‘WIN’ this division. Panthers sweep the Falcons, then are swept themselves, by the lowly SAINTS.

  150. MelvinJunior Says:

On a Sunday, where THREE future HOF’ers went down. Two ‘first-ballots’ for THE SEASON. The Rams CAN’T play Adams on Thursday Night, against the Seahawks (if he’s even available). Packers are now without their TWO BEST Players, for the rest of the season… Kraft and Parsons. Tough sport.

    ——–

It’s not an absurd thought, I’ve seen saying it for a few weeks now, that if Baker can get hot, the team has enough talent to do some damage in the playoffs.

The one thing about being an inconsistent QB, is that hot streaks can start with no warning, and I do think in the 3rd quarter of the Atlanta game, that we started to see the Baker heating up, before he threw that awful INT and then went back into the Baker we’ve seen for the last two months.

But if Baker catches fire, plays like Trevor Lawrence played today, which Baker is capable of doing at times, then the team can absolutely beat almost anyone.

  154. ModHairKen Says:

Munchkin, your continued obsession with Baker and defense of the lousy Defense is an absurdity.

  155. Confido75 Says:

The Bucs got lucky, that is all there is to it. The only way this team gets on track is if Evans, Lavonte, Vea, basically the guys that won a super bowl, find alternate ways to motivate the players who seem not to care or are checked out. I’d also tell Bowles to go pound sand when he makes idiotic decisions. Sometimes you have to ignore the boss for the team to be successful.

See what I mean about the Baker Boi(s), they’re clearly mentally ill. Why would either person post their comment if they were of sound mind? A normal person would read what they wrote, and say, wow, that’s cringe, and decline to engage. But they need to prove to Baker that they will do anything to defend his honor, so they sacrifice their dignity in a vain attempt to “protect” him from criticism.

    I’ll pray for you both.

  158. Lightningvinny1 Says:

If you suffer from BDS maybe watching the final 3 games and the first home playoff game is not for you !!! Baker , with some help , can take us deep in the playoffs , but he does need help,, not every QB is Josh Allen (Superman) , some need a good coach , OC, structure (Drake Maye) ,, Some just may need the right coach (Trevor Lawrence )(Jordan Love) (Bo Nicks),, some may just need an Awsome defense (Stroud), Baker has non of that at the moment ,, so give the guy a break till you supply him with something

  159. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Rod Munch, been enjoying some fine Lugos rum this evening (if you know, you know) and just for S&G rewatched the Bucs / Seahawks game from this year. A few posts ago you mentioned Baker getting on a heater. If anyone has the chance to rematch that game two things are clear:

Baker and EE were playing with extreme confidence. We are missing that now but if it ever came back we could be…hmmm….interesting going forward.

That was the first sign of the defense looking like it might be a problem.

  162. Ex-Browns02 Says:

Rod — thanks for your prayers. Sorry — Baker is not the problem here. Yes — he’s human and he screws up like we all do, but he’s not the issue here.

  163. Lokog Says:

Even if the bucs win the division i believe todd bowel’s wont be back next year. Baker mayfield plays hard and with heart but will never ever be a winner he just plain sucks

  164. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

I know I am one of the optimistic posters, so I am going to say Barton’s development was severely impacted by the LT shenanigans earlier this year and the ridiculous guard shuffling around him as the year has gone on.

Honestly, the OL injuries this year have been almost comical. Not just “this guy is out this week” but multiple occasions of “hey, we need a new guard after the first series”. This is the reason I have a hard time grading Gizzard. Is he bad? Maybe. But the constant flux of personnel makes it difficult to judge.

  165. Joe Says:

That was the first sign of the defense looking like it might be a problem.

    ———–

Well keep in mind that the Seahawks lost two of their top DBs before the game, then lost a third one early in the game – and because of that, they pulled a Todd Bowles, and went to super soft zone, that the Bucs destroyed.

Unlike Bowles, the Seahawks defensive coach came out and said he wouldn’t make that mistake again – and the Seahawks defense has been one of the best in the NFL outside of that game.

Which is also why there is still hope, even on defense. If Bowles would stop being an idiot, and was aggressive like he was vs the Lions and Pats, and didn’t just sit in zone or go to zone in key situations, this defense can look completely different. Literally just call different plays and the defense is ultra aggressive and gets sacks and turnovers – yet Bowles refuses to do it if there’s a single injury in the backfield, he does the same thing the Seahawks did vs Tampa, with the same results.

As for Baker and EE, that game the Bucs are missing Mike, had a shell version of Godwin, Bucky was out, and Luke was out – and no McMillan. The Bucs offense would be a lot more loaded in a rematch.

The only team that truly would worry me in the playoffs is the Rams, since the Bucs are sentenced to always lose that match-up when it matters for all of eternity.

  168. Itzok Says:

Won’t matter, next week young will throw for 450 yards and 5 touchdowns

  169. MelvinJunior Says:

The Seahawks were without at least their top 3-4 DB’s for that Bucs Game. I couldn’t imagine going back and watch that. Like, WHY… A Week-5 Game!? Must be porn to these Baker Bois. Hahaha, I rewatched UNLV and Larry Johnson, Stacey Augmon, Greg Anthony, & Anderson Hunt Games all the time (that early season #1 vs #2 Arkansas Todd Day & Lee Mayberry Game at old Barnhill Arena, over and over), and also the “Michigan Fab5” games (over and over, the early season freshman year OT game against Duke – Webber’s debut when he went OFF and ‘hit the rim’ for the winner from half court in regulation)… BUT, I Was Like ‘14-15’ LoL.

  170. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Ya know Itzok, that’s the thing. I don’t think any of us, optimistic homers and pessimistic posters combined, have felt as bad about our team we all love since 2019. Kind of sucks, to be honest.

Anyway, opti-trolls like me will hope for the playoffs. Could be foolish, but faint hope is better than no hope at all.

  171. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

MelvinJunior, because it was halftime of the Sunday night game and figured what the heck, better than blah blah highlights of teams I don’t care about.

  172. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Rod Munch , you are very right.

When I think about the reasons for the offense regressing, I try to think about what is the cause. I think there are several:

🏈 The Offensive Coordinator. I feel for him because he’s a rookie OC, but I also don’t feel this team has the time for him to improve. I could be wrong. We got lucky having two consecutive good OCs.

🏈 Offensive Injuries. They certainly played a big role.

🏈 Mayfield Injury. With an injury riddled OL, he’s been taking far too many hits. It was a matter of time. But I think it’s more than that. I think he’s lost confidence in the OL.

  173. Rod Munch Says:

Buccaneer Bonzai – I just think Baker is what he is, and that is an inconsistent player. Last year, while the end results were very good, if you review the schedule, before the bye, Baker was very inconsistent – then post bye, vs a bunch of teams with bad defenses and starting backup QBs, he played a lot better.

This year, he starts out the year hot, then once we got to the meat of the schedule, he faded badly. Of course injuries all over the offense are a big part of that, and I literally gave him a ton of slack all year. That slack ended when he lost the Saints game AND people tried to blame the defense, who gave up 260, got an INT and three sacks – that should win you pretty much every game, in particular when they make a 4th quarter stop and give the ball back to your MVP QB.

But in any case, with all that inconsistency can come hot streaks. And certainly getting back Bucky, Godwin, McMillan and Evans can help aid that hot streak starting. I thought for sure we’d see it vs the Falcons, put literal money on it (that I lost because those hack refs took the TD to McMillan off the board), but I still think he’s close to a breakout, and if that breakout happens, it might be enough to carry him through the end of the year and into the playoffs.

  174. MelvinJunior Says:

Baker is not making the right reads pre-snap and he’s not seeing the field. He’s holding onto the ball for too long when he can’t afford to. Then, ‘panicking’ and rushing throws when he doesn’t need to. He’s not hitting guys in-stride short, because his timing his off. And, then he’s not hitting them downfield, because he’s throwing-it behind them. About the only thing he had the other night, was just throwing-it up to Mike, and hoping for him to come down with it… Which he mostly did. He’s just way off and kind of lost right now. But with Baker, that can all change very quickly, for a little while… Until, it doesn’t again. That is just Baker.

  175. Southern BucLife Says:

Supporting the buccaneers is like marrying your sister, you know that its wrong but you do it anyway , mainly because you want to chase the thrill …. until you finally realize that Coach Bowels gameplay is uglier than your sister, but either way…..you still get screwed…………

  176. heyjude Says:

Baker really wants to beat the Panthers. He was on that team, and then went to the Rams. It’s personal. Go Bucs!!

  177. budlikedthebucarros Says:

    lmfao uglier than your sisiter
