Report: Tristan Wirfs Not Expected To Play Sunday

December 6th, 2025

Out?

Bucs All-Pro Tristan Wirfs has battled an oblique injury this week and was listed as questionable for tomorrow’s game with the slimy Saints.

One respected NFL insider said Wirfs is no longer questionable, he’s likely out.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN twittered that Wirfs is out “barring a surprise.” What that surprise may be, Joe isn’t really sure.

Poor Baker Mayfield and Bucs offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard. Just when they think they have a healthy offensive line, Wirfs goes down.

Joe assumes that Charlie Heck may get tapped on the shoulder and told to play in Wirfs’ place. He played most of OTAs and training camp in Wirfs’ place when Wirfs was rehabbing from offseason knee surgery.

Also, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com twittered that slimy Saints receiver Chris Olave will play. Great.

The Bucs were already bad enough with Wirfs in……….but now he’ll be out again????

    …….this team is so screwed

  2. ElioT Says:

    Awesome news.

    What a season.

  3. Oldbucsfan Says:

What with all these phantom injuries we never hear nothing about until it’s game time? Same crap Bucky.

  4. Buddha Says:

Coaches hide injury information. That’s a strategic advantage.

  5. Eric Says:

Buddha so you think wirfs could still play tommorow

  6. DmanTX Says:

I think we are resting Wirfs against a horrible Saints team to get him healthier for the rest of the season and post season.

  7. FortMyersDave Says:

I think you are right DmanTX but w/o Wirfs in the lineup, the Bucs are just asking for Baker to get hit via the cheap shot Saints. The injury bug bites again. Hopefully Wirfs will be back for the ATL game.

  8. heyjude Says:

Sad to hear Tristan is out for today.

DmanTX – I think you are right too. Rest him up for the Falcons, and Mike and/or Jalen may be back too.

  9. Bosch Says:

Sounds like they are saving him for ATL. Thursday night football should be done away with. Don’t know why NFLPA isn’t opposed to it.

  10. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

If Wirfs IS out, I wonder if they’ll have Heck fill in for him or move our center to LT and our LG to center as they did earlier in the season.

Bredesen is competent playing center. It would come down to whether the coaches believe Barton is better than Heck at LT.

  11. Buc2Blame Says:

Wigs got bout 2 mo yrs left in him. Young man knees are done. A smart GM would start looking for his replacement now.

“What with all these phantom injuries we never hear nothing about until it’s game time?”

We’ve beedn hearing about it since last week.

  13. Beeej Says:

    Chase Young getting a woody

  14. FortMyersDave Says:

Hey Beej, Chase Young is probably worrying about the Saints right now as they get them after their bye. Last time he saw them he threw for 102 yards and a pick in a 17-7 loss at home where the Saints racked up almost 400 yards offense to like 170 for the kittens. What worries me is not Chase Young but that if the Saints could get 400 yards of offense on Carolina, they could do the same with Bowles soft D. Carolina does not worry me, the Bowles D does concern me as a Buc fan.

  15. PSL Bob Says:

For all you gloom and doomers out there, chill! I’d rather have Wirfs rest his injury this week rather than play against a team we’re capable of beating with or without him in the lineup. We need him 100% for our last 3 games which will decide the NFC crown.

  16. Brooks Says:

I don’t think it’s gloom and doom everyone knows the Saints get up for us. This will be not a good game. Baker will be running for his life they will shut the run down and the crowd will sit on their hands like they always do

  17. FrontFour Says:

Wirfs has been playing hurt all season. He also got toasted in New Orleans by Young. We need to run the ball right at him to get him back on his heals.
