New Injury For Baker Mayfield

December 30th, 2025

Before last week’s game, Baker Mayfield was completely off the official injury report.

Now he’s back on it with two injuries.

The first injury report of the Bucs’ week was issued today and new for Mayfield is a throwing shoulder injury. No specifics were provided.

Also, Mayfield is shown to have a knee injury. Mayfield had a knee injury earlier this season but eventually the injury report reflected the injury had disappared. Whether this is the same injury or not is unclear.

(If it’s not clear already, the Bucs don’t like talking about injuries.)

Regardless, Mayfield has started every game this season and most players are banged up. The Bucs didn’t have a real practice today but if they did, per the report, Mayfield would have been “limited” in his participation.

The injury to a throwing shoulder is concerning. Will that disappear by Saturday?

The last time backup QB Teddy Bridgewater got playing time, against the Rams five weeks ago, he had a very uninspiring performance.

The full Tuesday report is below.

    Excuses, excuses.

  2. Lakeland Says:

The only injury Baker is suffering from is an acute case of Sickness …..

  3. Let em bake Says:

Right shoulder. Hence , 2 under thrown balls. Baker 2023. 28/10. 2024. 41/16. 2025. 25/10. For all the crying, he’s mirroring the canales season.

  4. Lakeland Says:

He suffering from an acute case of Suckness

  5. Bosch Says:

Another hamstring for Benjamin Morrison. If this season is any indication he is they another Licht early round defensive bust.

  6. Bucs4Ever Says:

I think he is really injured. He would have sucked for the past 2 years and did not. SO if his left side is injured, he probably injured the right one from the change in throwing dynamics. It’s bad luck.

The problem with Baker is that he is a “linebaker” QB. He uses his body in ways that other QB’s do not, falling down, blocking, strong-arming people. I admire his tenacity. But he needs to stop that with a MUCH BETTER team and players around him.

  7. Stallworth Says:

Brock Purdy, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, Aaron Rodgers, CJ Stoud, Lamar Jackson are all hurt. No excuses.

  8. Bucks 'n' Bucs Says:

It’s a little too late to admit Baker is injured. He hasn’t been right since week 8.

  9. Adam Says:

How convenient. Bowels and coaching staff throwing a Hail Mary to try and save their jobs. See, it’s all because Baker was hurt that the entire team imploded and we lost 7 out of the last 8 games.

  10. ElioT Says:

    Just start Teddy.

    Season is O V E R!

  11. Adam Says:

The one injury that should be on there for Baker is that he’s suffering from happy feet.

  12. SB~LV Says:

    Draft QB John Mateer

  13. Let em bake Says:

Stallworth. Your list has guys who, this year , have all missed at least one start, with the exception of Josh Allen . Now, if we had a decent back up, baker may have had some heal time ( like purdy). Sadly, teddy showed us his time is past .

  14. Louie Says:

    Good excuse for losing Saturday

  15. Let em bake Says:

    Passed.

  16. HeartyDickerson Says:

What do you know, another walk-through instead of a real practice.

This is a topic the other local media platforms are starting to talk about more. How Todd keeps saying, “We had a good practice.” But the media is starting to point out how the Bucs never predict anymore. It’s all walk-throughs. (Other teams are not doing this.)

  17. I Remember 21 Says:

Wirfs & Geodonkey being on the report is pretty concerning too. The Chuk honeymoon was a short one. And if by “don’t like talking about injuries” you mean “should probably be fined by the league for lack of transparency about injuries,” we’re on the same page.

  18. You gotta make addjudgmints. Says:

Honey I know I know I know coaches are a changing
Its time we all reach out for something new
    TODD, THAT MEANS YOU TOO
you say you want a NEW LEADER but
the GLAZERS can’t seem to make up their mind
I think you better close it and fire TODD
    to the purple rain….

  19. SB~LV Says:

One of the biggest losses of the offense was unsung Ko Kief

  20. Louie Says:

Who honestly thinks that the Falcons will lose to the Saints?

  21. Lakeland Says:

Are you guys saying that an NFL franchise that’s appraised at $6 billion dollars plus. Are so mismanaged that they have to play a badly injured QB, instead of sitting him. Doesn’t NFL teams has 3 QBs on their rosters? Why is this team (Yucs) playing an injured QB in crucial games with their playoffs hopes on the line?

Something is definitely wrong in Yuc Yuc Land

  22. HeavyE Says:

Tell baker, that Bazelak is the starting QB, for Saturday, and all of his ailments, will go away, baker is so full of it, he should never see a football field, ever again. Just more excuses,he is a cancer….Please start Bazelak,we have a better chance of Winning!! Let’s Go Bucs!!

  23. Adam Says:

This is literally the worst and weakest division in the entire NFL, and we just lost 7 out of the last 8 games in an epic fashion- total collapse mode. And just because there’s still a chance this loser team can make the playoffs because the NFC South is a joke, some Bucs fans here are upset that we’re calling for Bowels to be fired and clean house to put an end to this insanity. Lol, whatever.

He could use an OC that knows what he is doing for starters. There are teams out there that have a better younger offensive line that would be a good fit.

  25. LFG Bucs Says:

Did the also add “hurt pride” to the injury list? At least he tries hard I guess.

  26. Stallworth Says:

Let em bake, doesn’t matter. Point remains the same. Everyone is playing with some level of hurtness this time of the year. Good teams with good coaches find a way to win. That is not us.

  27. HeavyE Says:

The Aints, hate us so bad, that they won’t even try to win that game! Thanks Licht,Bowels & baker for this season, it will go down in History! All of you should be so Proud…….

Great idea on not starting Baker. I’m sure you will be pleased with the result.

  29. Adam Says:

Poor Lavonte David. He didn’t deserve to go out like this. It’s actually sad.

  30. Vern Says:

I’m waiting on Rod to explain this to us all.

  31. Lakeland Says:

You cut the backup QB that you spent a premium 2nd round draft pick on. After 4 years on the roster, and after you made him the first QB that got a 2nd contract in franchise history.

Then you sign a High School coach without working him out, to be your backup QB. So now now you’re saying that your starting QB has been hurt for 7-8 weeks. But he’s still playing every game, and you’re 1- 6 in those games!

The level of incompetence with this franchise is unimaginable

  32. Popmike66 Says:

Speaking of Mayfield injury, I don’t thinks injuries has been the cause of bad play by Mayfield. From what I ve seen the few minutes I could stomach watching the past 3 or 4 games, it’s looked like he was just trying to do to much. But again, thats my opinion and opinions are like rear ends, everybody has one

  33. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

The prevailing gospel in NFL front offices is that you build a team starting in the trenches; games are won at the line of scrimmage. The lack of talent along the o-line (due to injuries) and lack of continuity have been contributing factors to the quantity of injuries Baker has been dealing with this season. Last season, our o-line was good, and Baker was much healthier!

I’m not concerned about the offense in 2026. The o-linemen will have an off-season to get healthy, and I’m sure Licht will do what he needs to do to get some better depth on the o-line, either via the draft or free agency. And we need a backup QB that could come in and win some games if needed.

My primary concern is with the defense. We have so many needs there, too many to address via the draft. Licht will have to be active in free agency as well. And we need to bring in a strong DC. I don’t know WTF happened to Bowles. He used to be a really good DC. And the players used to fight hard for him. It looks like he might have lost the locker room. I’d like to know what Richard Sherman knew months ago.

  34. Marky mark Says:

It won’t matter anyway. Falcon s going to win..panthers win 3 way tie. Alex Van Pelt iz your next coach. The dc will be the bounty gate guy from the ain’t s.

  35. UGotRobbed Says:

If we still had Trask, he would have won us some of these last hand full of games while Baker sat out and got healthy…the division would have been wrapped up already and we could have had a healthy team going in to the playoffs! Stupid Jason Licht! Next time, contact me and can give you some advice on roster moves!

  36. ChiBuc Says:

Yep, ROH GM Licht saves his picks and nickels for the likes of Bridgewater so he can throw top dollar at Goedeke & AWJ, regulars on the injury report. Up next for big payday, more injury report all pros Kancey, Morrison (why wait Licht? This is up your alley), sure throw some at Bucky and Mayfield too, both too stupid to protect their best career asset, their bodies.

Sick of this secrecy, lame medical/conditioning staff, drafting nice guys who break easily (actually drafting damaged goods….Benji’s hip, SVD’s shoulder), and Licht’s apathy in FA & during swoons

  37. Whatevs Says:

Man Kyle Trask is leading the Jags to the playoffs this year…

Should have kept him on the roster instead of Baker.

    Lakeland is a little slow.

  38. DBS Says:

What’s really hilarious is seeing all the posters that were hidden under rocks when they were winning now showing up. Plus the posters that have changed names since they were winning and now losing but don’t want people knowing who they are.

  39. Popmike66 Says:

One more thing. I ve said this several times, the NFL is a rigorous and hard hitting game but the Bucs need to take a hard look at their training staff. Darn near everybody on the 53 man roster has been out this season, not once but several times for each player

  40. buccintimeforchanges Says:

LICHT IS TO BLAME FOR NOT SIGNING AN ACTUAL BACKUP

BAKER NEEDED A FEW WEEKS OFF TO HEAL MIDSEASON BUT OUR STUPID GM BROUGHT IN TEDDY WHO SUCKS.

    EMBARRASSING FRONT OFFICE WORK.

  41. Lakeland Says:

There’s a lot of serviceable QBs out there, capable of winning a few games while the starting QB rest. The Bucs were 6-2 with the NFC South in their hand. They only needed to win 3-4 games out of 9, to wrap-up this Weak division.

There is ZERO excuses for their historical collapse

Everyone one involved in this meltdown should be evaluated
No job should be safe, every stone should be turned

Even the owners has to evaluate themselves

EVERY job should be on the line
There’s a chain of command in place
Why did the HC allow this to happen? There’s things he could have done
Why did the GM sit back and let it happen, he could have intervene
Why haven’t we heard from the owners? They could have done something

  42. Rod Munch Says:

See, told you Baker was injured – that’s why he’s not been his MVP self for the past 2+ months. But just wait until he’s healthy, he’s better than Manning and much better at making commercials — like every time I see Baker Mayfield baking, I’m like wow, that’s Oscar worthy. But the haters, they want you to think Baker isn’t the greatest QB and actor in the world – it’s all lies! You just want until Baker is healthy and you’ll see, and all the doubters, well, they can go straight to hell and burn in its fires.

God bless Baker for all he does!

    ——-

We will obviously never know, but I do know with 100% certainty he’s better than Bridgewater. No idea what Trask did to Bowles, if he hit on his daughter or something, but all Teddy did was come in and put McMillan on the IR for 3 months, he had no business being on this team.

  44. Yucks Says:

Entire Bucs Coaching Staff DNP Did Not Prepare most of the season

  45. Lakeland Says:

    And it gets worst
They just started a UDFA rookie with 23 starts at Georgia State University, not the Georgia Bulldogs, but Georgia State. They started him at LT, to protect the blindside of your already injured QB. Why is he even in a position to start a NFL game at LT as a UDFA rookie?

    I didn’t make this up
As ridiculous as it seems, this is the Bucs reality

  46. BA's Red Pen Says:

Trask?? lol What a bunch of idiots. Dude was out of football most of the year now he’s on Atlanta’s practice squad. He would have won us some games?? You must be trolling because nobody’s that retarded.

  47. #99 the big fella Says:

As most here I’m glad the season is about over. The Bucs have waisted my last 5 or 6 Sundays. I could use a break from this sorry *ss coaching staff. And the worst defense in the NFL

  48. Rod Munch Says:

Lakeland – Chewbacca gave up the strip sack (although when that would happen to Winston it was always on him for not having ‘pocket awareness’) but outside of that play, I thought Chewy was OK on the day. Baker had all the time in the world on his turn turnovers, and most of the day was not pressured, certainly not more than any other QB in the NFL. Instead Baker did what he did in his last days in Cleveland, and what he did in Carolina, and that was once he loses confidence, he gets happy feet and then refuses to get rid of the ball, instead running around in circles holding the ball, getting himself in trouble. When he did that on the first INT, he held it and held it, bounced outside, under no pressure the entire time, then massively under threw what should have been an easy TD. On the second INT, again, no pressure, he just misread the safety and ended up throwing into double coverage. There’s no excuses for Baker vs the Dolphins, he was terrible, choked under pressure for the 4th week in a row with the playoffs on the line.

  49. NCbucfan Says:

So Grizz will try to run the ball 40 times this time! Give me an effin break. I’m over this garbage. Clean house, and I’m on the fence about keeping Baker or not. His career seems to follow this same pattern. Play great for a while then craps the bed at some point. And the injuries are something he will always deal with, due to his reckless play, which is his blessing and curse.

  50. KnuteR Says:

Baker should have been benched when he hurt his shoulder. The Bucs might have won at least one game with Teddy. Bowlo did not do that and led the Bucs into this fiasco of no playoffs this season. Bowlo did the wrong thing and now this turn into a whole mess for the team. It is rebuild time now. Time for captain Bowlo get on the train and go into the sunset.

  51. Told You Says:

Oh boy, red meat for @Rod and @Lakeland.

  52. Optimistic Says:

If Bowles and Baker are back next season, I see another 7-10 record. Maybe worse.

  53. NCbucfan Says:

Didnt Baker have an injury against CAR in 2023 when we needed to win to secure the division in the finale. We won 9-0. That won’t work this time. And, is anybody sensing a pattern here?

  54. SteveK Says:

Agree with the posters suggesting Trask is better than Teddy, for this season, as he had years in the system and wouldn’t of thrown the bad ball to McMillan in the preseason: his arm is better (though not great).

Ah well, let’s win Saturday and root for the stinky saints on sunday.

Hopefully we get a chance for playoffs, and it’s hilarious to see how bad we’ve been the last two months.

  55. Cleanhouse Says:

The Falcons should activate Kyle Trask to come in and take the knee when they’re in Victory formation when they win after we squeak by the Panthers.

  56. Lakeland Says:

I told everyone on here before the season started, the Bucs were going to be a sorry team. When Todd Bowles kept placing emphasis on the Special Teams, l knew it was over. He waived quality position players because they didn’t excel on Special Teams. And the guys he kept for Special Teams were poor position players. And Jason Licht let his swing OT and swing OG/Backup Center walk in free agency.

  57. Lakeland Says:

I predicted a bad season for the Bucs

But l never imagined it would be this bad
I never thought they would lose 7 of 8

Not in my wildest dreams, did l see this coming

    But I’ll take it 😂😂🤣🤣

  58. BucsFan81 Says:

Arians was on Pat Macafee show today and said he doesn’t think Bowles is getting fired and Baker is playing injured and veterans are in the wrong spots causing busted coverages on defense. So expect to see Bowles next year.

  59. Stallworth Says:

If Baker is hurt then sit him. Lets see what Bridgewater can do. Clearly Bridgewater was brought here to back up Baker right? F it throw him in there, unless Todd and Jason are afraid of exposing how bad of a decision they made by replacing a working backup QB with one that was coaching a pee wee football team.

  60. NCbucfan Says:

ST coach should’ve been fired week 3. Blocked punts, blocked fgs, horrible and I mean HORRIBLE return coverage! Bowles is a joke, why should the players be held accountable if the coaches aren’t???? I mean it starts at the top! Damn I both love and hate Bucco Bruce. He was all about accountability, yet he was responsible for getting Bowles to take over! Thanks alot Bucco!

  61. SlyPirate Says:

$200M FOR BAKER IS A LOCK

    Injured Godwin = $62M with $44M guaranteed
    Injured Goedeke = $90M with $50M guaranteed

    Injured Baker = $50M x 4 with $150M guaranteed

  62. Lakeland Says:

Next season with a new HC , these Loafers will have to earn a roster spot. And they won’t be guaranteed a starting job because of their draft status. Bowles played the favoritism game, and it came back to bite him in the rear.

  63. Lakeland Says:

    Injured McCollum has $35.4 guaranteed

  64. Kenton Smith Says:

Rod, you are a fool and you don’t know anything about football. Baker has a sore throwing shoulder, probably because of that strip sack. Knee pain. He’s thrown for 3490 yards with 25 Td passes and 10 interceptions. He’s run for more yards per carry and more third down conversions than any QB in the league. Yeah, he hasn’t been strong enough to pull this defense and special teams and coaches out of the ditch. I’m a Mayfield fan and everyone knows it. He is the only bright spot this team has had this season. The Only One. Tell me one other player on this team that has done squat. They All laid around injured. Barely hung stats, anybody! Disgusting that this fan base would begin to try this scapegoat crap.

The only pattern you are seeing is that Baker will try to play through an injury when most injured NFL players will take their money sack and rehab.

  66. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Adam Says:
“The one injury that should be on there for Baker is that he’s suffering from happy feet…”

Seriously? His feet are one of his strengths.

  67. Told You Says:

    Preach @Kenton

  68. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Rod Munch Says:
“…most of the day was not pressured…”

Sorry buddy, but that is not true.

I’ll give you that he throws picks at the worst moments, and that he has made a few bonehead mistakes.

But we both know the piecemail offensive line has not protected him well enough. That where his injuries came from. The depth on the OL wasn’t up to par…but who could have predicted having to resort to 3rd stringers?

The truth is that he played like an mvp…and then after the first injury, he didn’t.

My theory is that he lost confidence in the OL and WRs (who were also dipping into backups).

I think he is worth keeping, but I’m not oppsed to drafting a QB for a real competition.

  69. Patrick Says:

The only collapse worse than this one is Raheem’s 2011 disaster (4-2 to 4-12). What makes this one feel worse is that it’s taking place after a successful stretch for this franchise…..Bowles is also an experienced coach – I’ve never seen an experienced coach lose control of a team this badly. We knew Raheem was inexperienced and lucky to have that lone 10-6 season he had with the easy schedule

  70. Oneilbuc Says:

So I guess every time he plays bad it’s because he’s injured lol 🤣🤣 now the Joes are helping Jason Licht and the Glazers sale Baker Mayfield to us lol 🤣🤣. The bucs will never win a Superbowl with Baker Mayfield. Joe please stop trying to sale us wip cream over dookie lol 🤣🤣..

  71. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Lakeland Says
“Next season with a new HC , these Loafers will have to earn a roster spot. And they won’t be guaranteed a starting job because of their draft status. Bowles played the favoritism game, and it came back to bite him in the rear.”

I disagree with most of what you usually say lately, but on this I agree.

We have a few loafers on the team. Not so many as some are claiming, but they are in some key spots.

A new HC will certainly put everyone on the hot seat.

  72. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I have a theory that the Glazers and Licht suspected they would have to fire Bowles way back during the draft.

The timing was wrong then. Three division championships and winning records…it made things difficult.

But…there are signs that they were preparing to do it after this season:

🏈 Drafted EE. They knew Mike Evans would be retiring soon, and if the wanted an offensive head coach after Bowles was gone, they’d need a way to lure one to Tampa.
🏈 Godwin’s future was uncertain after his injury.
🏈 They knew firing Bowles would have to be justifiable. Now it is.

Next season, the guys on IR will be back. A new set of coaches. Baker will be healed.

  73. JA Says:

Here’s the thing about Baker …
Down 8 in the playoff game in Detroit with a chance to tie, he throws an interception to end all hope.
Up by 4 against Washington last year he fumbles on the Bucs 13. Washington wins after scoring a TD.
And the last two weeks were essentially the same with a chance to win the division.
The “not Baker’s fault” crowd will say these things are bad breaks.
But the great ones never do this in the clutch, or is it just my imagination?
Guess their career was luckier than Baker’s. Or perhaps they were just better?
You are what you are in this league. Daniel Jones and Sam Darnold had great seasons after their release. But they too, are what they are.
Baker has played for 4 teams. Are all those teams stupid enough to let a truly great QB walk?
