Message Isn’t Getting Through?
December 14th, 2025Joe’s got interesting words from two men who very much support and admire Bucs head coach Todd Bowles.
Former NFL MVP quarterback Rich Gannon was a teammate of Bowles with the Redskins in 1993. He also spent time with Bowles preparing for Jets games on CBS when Gannon was a color analyst and Bowles was New York’s head coach.
On Friday, Gannon spoke on SiriusXM NFL Radio about how Bowles’ profanity-laced rant on Thursday night told him a lot.
And it’s not pretty.
“So I’ve known Todd, great respect for him and his body of work. Todd’s very, I would say he’s very guarded. He’s very controlled in press conferences and in production meetings, at times can be very monotone. But the message is usually heard loud and clear by the players,” Gannon said.
“I got the sense listening to that press conference, that he and the coaching staff are really annoyed at the players lack of accountability, lack of attention to detail.”
If a head coach is losing it because players are not on details in December, doesn’t that mean the roster, collectively, is non-responsive to the staff?
Again, it’s December for defensive coordinator who took over the job in 2019.
Gannon also talked about glaring Bucs defensive screwups against the Falcons and referenced a pattern.
“I just see it too often, these teams are too soft in coverage. They’re not dialed in, attention to detail, communication, breakdowns — and we just saw too much of that last night from the Buccaneers,” Gannon said. “And it’s not just any one player. You know, Baker Mayfield was beating himself up [in his news conference] about the interception to Dee Alford in the left flat, you know, just unexcusable. But he misses a third-down throw to [Emeka] Egubka, you know, there everybody has to play better.”
Joe heard Gannon and thought of Bucco Bruce Arians, a Bowles mentor, on The Rich Eisen Show two weeks ago.
Arians was talking about the Steelers and in a very reserved tone said he thinks it’s best for Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin to move on.
“Sometimes the message gets a little stale,” Arians said.
Does that apply to Year 7 of Bowles coaching the Bucs defense?

December 14th, 2025 at 12:55 pm
The message is stale, maybe because Todd is hung up on his defense that is apparently so complex the players on this team cannot comprehend. For Todd to keep doing the same thing time after time after time instead of adjusting leads me to believe this problem is Todd Bowles EGO as much as anything. You don’t have the players on this roster to do what you are trying coach, you just don’t.
December 14th, 2025 at 12:58 pm
I think the message has gotten through, but the players aren’t buying it. It’s hard trying your best if you don’t believe in what you’re being asked to do, because you know it won’t work.

December 14th, 2025 at 1:00 pm
A wow, another anti Bowles article. This is new and refreshing.
December 14th, 2025 at 1:00 pm
Nothing makes players tune out like an incompetent coach and staff.
That and getting guaranteed money from a GM who is in love with his draft picks, instead of reality.
December 14th, 2025 at 1:06 pm
Glazers need to be looking to hire a search firm to find a new HC and GM!!!! Bucs also need a fire sale to get rid of the cancers, I.e AWJ, McCollum, Dennis,
December 14th, 2025 at 1:07 pm
I think it’s too convenient to blame the players. We were told that these players were drafted because of their leadership abilities & character. Now we’re to believe they are just ignoring the head coach. These things do not go hand in hand. Anyone who believes this has turned a blind eye to the previous 3-4 years of poor defensive play. These issues aren’t new, you just ignored them. These issues aren’t new, they were masked by excellent offensive play. The reality is, we let the guy who crafted the best offensive output in team history walk out the door to keep a middle of the pack coach/ D coordinator. Look no further than J-ville & Carolina. Both teams are on the rise & we’re in a downward spiral. These are the decisions that set teams back years!

If Cousins played a Todd Bowles Bucs Defense every week, he would be the GOAT. Tom who?
December 14th, 2025 at 1:15 pm
Just time for a change enough with the “why”
December 14th, 2025 at 1:20 pm
Good point, Shane.
December 14th, 2025 at 1:21 pm
Remember the drama about Baker saying the Players were happier now that Brady was pushing them for excellence?
There ya go, happy to suck.. it’s so much easier.
December 14th, 2025 at 1:30 pm
I would take Mike Tomlin as head coach over Bowles any day. Bowles is in way over his head and always has been. In all honesty we need an offensive head coach. Both super Bowles were won with offensive minded head coaches. Also we won’t have to worry about changing OC every year if we have an offensive head coach that calls his own plays.
December 14th, 2025 at 1:39 pm
Watch the game and look for the secondary to talk or signal to one another.
I don’t see it and remember a presser before the season with the backfield coaches that gave me pause….
December 14th, 2025 at 1:40 pm
Will Tomlin be the new HC for the Bucs?
December 14th, 2025 at 1:41 pm
He lost the team.
Coaches blame players, players blame coaches.
It’s over.
The only remaining questions are whether Licht will stay, who will be the new HC, and who the new HC will recruit for his staff.
December 14th, 2025 at 1:50 pm
Cobraboy
You’re right. I hope Licht goes too.
December 14th, 2025 at 1:52 pm
Steaming pile of horse manure > Bowles defense
It seems as though the only people across the NFL that don’t see this is Licht, The Glazers, and the Pom Pom waivers.
How much more evidence do you need?
“Just gotta get better” will only stop being an excuse once this “coach” is fired.
35-34 Fire Bowles now!!!
December 14th, 2025 at 1:55 pm
When Bowles and Baker are the top leaders on your team, this is what you get. Admissions of poor coaching and poor qb play but we should feel better that they point out their obvious shortcomings.
What is it about their decision making that makes you believe they can guide the team deep in the playoffs?
December 14th, 2025 at 1:56 pm
Meanwhile, the message seems to be getting through in Jacksonville with Coen
Fire Bowels and Licht for allowing this to happen
December 14th, 2025 at 2:00 pm
This is just the Average “Bucs collapse” before another Bucs coach gets fired…..again and again and again
…..I wish the Bucs can hang onto a coach for 10+ years……build some kinda consistency…..but the Glazers are “El Cheapos” and never wanna pay up
December 14th, 2025 at 2:02 pm
Vrabel really has made a difference in New England huh? They’re whooping the Bills right now.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:02 pm
I’m thinking Bowles will be fired soon…..
And the Glazers are already RIGHT NOW is looking for their replacement coach next year…..
Jason Licht has to be on thin ice too
December 14th, 2025 at 2:03 pm
……….and every Bucs fans knows that “coaching” makes a HUGE difference……look at NE, JAX, and Houston………..great coaching!!!!!
December 14th, 2025 at 2:04 pm
Bucs need a coach like Mike Vrabel. He is no nonsense and hold players accountable. Bowles does not have that. Bucs are falling apart right now. Panthers might take the division from Bucs even Mike Evans upset with the ways Bucs defense player. They make Cousins look like an MVP qb. Bucs need an offensive head coach and Bowles does not cut it.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:11 pm
Shane247,
You are so correct. How are Licht/Bowles crowing they draft character guys who play hard but then say they aren’t listening and doing their job? You either failed drafting/signing them, failed to coach/lead them or both.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:17 pm
Or Bowles has been telling Licht for months “Listen Bro I know these are your guys , but we need some new faces” and that got him nothing at the trade deadline when all world Jordyn Brooks could have been had from Miami and made an immediate impact.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:19 pm
Maybe Gannon from AZ will get canned and he’ll DC for us next year.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:19 pm
Yeah, you can just tell. It’s obvious. The players aren’t bought in. It’s all the same. Nothing ever changes. They’re not dialed-in and focused. Just been going through the motions. Poor roster construction. Too many head-scratchers all around. FO and Coaching.
You could’ve just about covered most of Micah Parsons’ contract for this season and then some (around $20-MIL), JUST by not signing Reddick. Plus, about ALL of next season’s (the first-year of his new 4yr contract) JUST by telling Chris Godwin to “take the money” from NE (do what’s best for his family, that we’re just not in the same ballpark – hell, you DRAFTED a WR in the 1st-fricking-ROUND). And, we all know you can move around about all of the money anyway, by manipulating the cap through signing bonuses, deferred for future years, & etc. We all KNOW the ‘salary cap’ is already set to absolutely EXPLODE over the next few seasons… Due to the brand new upcoming CBA and by renegotiating the next TV-contact.
Those types of contracts always look A LOT better to begin with, by the time another free-agency’ period, or two, rolls around again! Even, Winfield Junior’s ‘LOOKED’ a lot better after only ONE cycle. Parsons (💯 with a better coach), could’ve literally changed EVERYTHING for this Defense. He just became THE FIRST player in NFL HISTORY, to begin his career with at least 12+SACKS for the 5TH-STRAIGHT SEASON. Those types of players rarely, ever come along. NEVER ‘available’ for the TAKING, while still in their PRIME. It doesn’t happen. We should’ve been in great shape ‘salary cap wise’ to go all-in on him… Or, would have been had we NOT handed over all that CASH to Godwin ($44-MILLION, FULLY-GUARANTEED – on a 3yr/66-MILLION… REALLY!?), and then to REDDICK. Those alone should be ‘fireable’ offenses, when you include this last draft. Then, Lickt decides to fully ‘double-down’ on the 5th-Rounder McCollum (EARLY, TOO), with ANOTHER $35-MIL+ FULLY-GUARANTEED. Maybe, he and Junior will look a lot better in a new system… We shall see.
But, we are not ‘overpaying’ at QB and we have Big-Mike at a discount. Wirfs extension will look just fine very soon. Parsons could’ve really helped make this Defense look completely different. A total game-changer. Hell, HE is the definition of a “Game-WRECKER.” And, at least then, we would’ve had a legit big-time, ‘generational-talent’ on our defense, in order to build around. A future 1st-ballot HOF’er still just hitting HIS PRIME. But, whatever… It is what it is.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:19 pm
Clean house, keeping Jason will make it more difficult to rid the stench.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:20 pm
When Bowles cut KT that sent a message to the team. You can show up everyday and bust your hump, create great tape, do everything that is asked, but it doesn’t matter because it’s all about Bowles and his guys.
When Mayfield went down and Bridge had to come in for a half they really could have used a spark – but it was clear to everyone watching he doesn’t belong in the NFL. KT adding a spark when they need it is the very last thing Bowles wanted to see. That’s when you know it’s about the coach and his ego and not about winning.
That was the moment Bowles lost the locker room, especially after everyone knows they put the kibosh on KT to hurt his career.
You can’t run Bridgewater out there. He can’t win games. So you’re forced to start Mayfield before he’s healthy and now you’re on a losing streak.
Why would anyone give 100% to Bowles? He’s not about winning. He’s about himself.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:21 pm
World Class BlunderBucs….Let Coen go and kept Bowlzo the sideline stiff…..brilliant.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:24 pm
I was really good at basketball in high school. I qualify for the open HC job for the Bucs. Just waiting for the phone call.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:26 pm
I bet the Glazer keeps Bowzo.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:28 pm
HC Grover – of course they will. They just extended him.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:34 pm
Hell, you already WASTED a 2nd-Rounder on a major ‘injury-prone’ DB who has barely even SEEN the field, yet!? The Cowboys wanted some talent back in return and the ended up taking basically, a salary dump in an aging DT from Green Bay. You don’t think (as much as YOU/JL ‘hyped-up’) the second year (again, 2nd-ROUNDER) Braswell wouldn’t have been worth a shot a dangling!? Hell, toss-in McCollum with it… You save by not having to pay-out Bras’s remaining contract, and you no longer have to worry about ‘re-upping’ McCollum’s (lol would’ve saved you THERE) hahahah. But, NO… We stand pat! Just like we always do. Never ‘bettering’ the TEAM. Just like with Cohen and our current Offense… Predictable, Scared, and WEAK.

Let’s say they kept KT instead of Broken Bridge. Mayfield goes down KT comes in and plays competitive football. Now you know you got a guy that can pinch hit a start until Baker heals the left shoulder.
That’s why you have a good backup at QB, so an injury doesn’t derail your season. Right now Tampa is single threaded at QB. Bake goes down the season is finished and in an embarrassing way.
You just can’t make that decision. You have to keep the guy you invested in especially if he’s showing you he’s improving every season.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:41 pm
The Glazers will keep Bo-oles because they pay once for a HC and a DC
December 14th, 2025 at 2:43 pm
No way the Steelers dump Tomlin, but if they do, the Bucs should be first in line to hire him. Won’t even have to deal with all the BS hiring rules either.
Also keep Bowles around the same way they keep Arians around, but only to advise on OC’s.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:43 pm
Anyone would take Tomlin over TODD. Please. But, NO… We do NOT need or want Tomlin. The Steelers have been stuck in a malaise, as well. And, Tomlin ain’t changing. THIS NFL is a ‘YOUNG’ Man’s Game.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:44 pm
The message is stale for a bunch of soft players who have no pride.

December 14th, 2025 at 2:53 pm
MelvinJunior – Yeah, we DO want Tomlin if he’s available. I don’t care about whats happening in Pittsburgh, that city is a complete dump and sucks the life out of anyone that’s ever been three. Getting Tomlin out of that s-hole, and the Bucs could do a fast track rebuild. Just don’t let Tomlin pick his own OC.
December 14th, 2025 at 2:55 pm

not too bad for a buc-less sunday

JTS is playing with the Bears and dominating!!!!
He just had to get away from Toad Bowels.
It’s not a talent issue folks.
The issue is the intelligence short fall from the HC.
Flush Turd Bowels!!!
December 14th, 2025 at 2:58 pm
I’m not saying that he’s done yet, and wouldn’t be a MAJOR improvement. I’m only saying that it’s not the direction I would prefer going. He wouldn’t be my first choice. But, I could live with it with the right GM, OC, and staff.
December 14th, 2025 at 3:00 pm
Meant to put a “@ Rod” in front of that (LoL) was commenting on Tomlin.
December 14th, 2025 at 3:02 pm
He would definitely be a safe pick with an already made offense, with plenty of weapons.
December 14th, 2025 at 3:06 pm
@ adam from ny – Yeah, we really lucked out with these games today!!!!
December 14th, 2025 at 3:07 pm
MelvinJunior – Yeah, I disagree completely. Tomlin would be exactly the type of HC that could come in and turn things around really fast, plus he’d be the homegrown guy who got away finally coming back.
With that said, he’s not going anywhere. The Steelers don’t run like everyone else, aren’t reactionary, they know there’s at least a half-dozen teams that would hire Tomlin if they fired him. They have an asset and will keep him.
But if I’m the Bucs I’d at least call with a draft pick, just in case they were close to making a move, that would likely push it over the edge and not have the Bucs having to fight with other teams to hire him.
However, again, it’s just some fantasy football – it won’t happen.
December 14th, 2025 at 3:15 pm
Bowles is a defensive head coach and the offense has been carrying his team since he was hired. The offense had the critical injuries and the new first home coordinator so taking a step back is easily understandable. Bowles and Licht knows what type of players he needs to succeed and if he has them. Otherwise why get rid of Gerald McCoy and pick up Suh. Bowles just sucks
December 14th, 2025 at 3:17 pm
Mike McCarthy. Sign him quickly because somebody will.
December 14th, 2025 at 3:21 pm
Trevor Lawrence has been getting hot and is having a career day as the Jags have taken over 1st place in their division. This is what Baker did last year.
Meanwhile back in Tampa, with first place on the line, Baker has single handedly lost the last two games.
Despite the nonsense out there, Baker wasn’t that good in 2023 – he was literally the definition of the word midling, which is why he got a middling contract. Baker was really good last year, with Coen calling the plays, but this year is even worse than he was in 2023, when he was middling and looks like the QB that bounced around the NFL, who would show some flashes here and there, but generally collapse under pressure and go into long funks.
Maybe everyone, even me, was too high on Baker. Maybe he is the guy who the rest of the NFL thought he was in before last year, who all had a chance to sign him and didn’t want him – and I’m talking AFTER 2023, not before. AFTER the 2023 season, Baker literally said he would take the most money offered, and the Bucs offered him a low-end starting salary deal.
Anyways, Baker has 3 games to snap out of it, get hot for the playoffs. Again, I still think it could happen – but what Lawrence is doing today is what I expected from Baker vs the Falcons, and instead blew the game.

He played with Cleveland to start this year and was dropped after 5 solo tackles and no sacks. He then was picked up by Chicago for the last 4 games and still has no sacks — even against the cr*py Shedur Sanders and how long he holds onto the ball.
Dude had 1 QB hit and 3 total pressures in 13 games before today.
December 14th, 2025 at 3:45 pm
The Bucs really need a coach who inspires people….that inspires them to play hard…to come together…..Baker shouldn’t be the only one to do so on the Bucs

MVP Baker has the ball, in his hands, 2 minutes left, chance to beat a bad Saints team, 1st place on the line … he goes 4 and out, throwing a 3-yard pass on 4th and 4.
MVP Baker has a 4th quarter lead, chance to go up multiple scores, put the game away vs the Falcons… throws a terrible, inexcusable INT. THEN has another chance to win the game, everyone in the world knows if the Bucs punt the ball, they lose the game, and he blows it, misses an easy throw that would have ended the game.
When your MVP QB has the ball in his hands, you don’t expect it to turn into loses. Yet it did. Almost makes me think he’s not the MVP.

If Bowles had really wanted a SB ring for himself as HC he would have set his very large ego aside and brought in a DC that he liked and focused on that goal. He failed to think both strategically and tactically. He failed to make obviously needed changes in the defensive coaching staff. He had the offense in ’23 and ’24 to make a deep run. He had the first real franchise QB the Bucs have ever had. He had the talent on both sides of the ball but he failed to get the most out of it. He failed to grow, change, evolve, whatever term you choose. As pointed out, the message got stale and the players tuned out. He had his chance. He had the talent. He blew it.
December 14th, 2025 at 4:08 pm
@ Rod
Baker definitely isn’t an MVP
Infact, Baker is looking like Cleveland Browns Baker now…….which is why they got rid of him
December 14th, 2025 at 4:08 pm
Trevor Lawrence playing like an MVP.
330 yards, 5 TDs, 51 yards rushing with a TD.
That’s the game I thought he’d finally see from Baker to break out of his funk. I even kept bringing up the 1987 Bucs-Falcons game as an example of the beatdown I wanted to see, when the Bucs hung 48 on the Falcons. Today the Jags have hung 48 on the Jets. Man, if he had seen that breakout game finally, how different everyone would feel today.
December 14th, 2025 at 4:14 pm
TheBucsAnthem – Yeah, I said in week 6 when dummies were chanting MVP that it means nothing to be MVP in week 6, to get back to me in week 16, and, well, here we are.
With that said, again, my main issue is with the Baker Boi cult and their massive stupidity, where nothing is ever Baker’s fault, it’s always someone else, it’s always injury, it’s never just that Baker isn’t as good as they think.
As for Baker, however, I still do legit hold out hope he heats up. We saw signs of it vs the Falcons, he did seem to finally start settling in during the 3rd quarter and making some good throws, because his collapse in the 4th quarter. But, to give Baker every benefit of the doubt, keep in mind that Evans and McMillan have only been back practicing, and limited at that, for like 10 days before the game. Baker was missing all over the place when throwing to Mike, and Evans kept bailing him out – but with some full practices coming up, and a game under their belt, again, it’s possible that Baker finally has his big breakout game. While I have nothing but distain for the Baker Boi(s), the Bucs are likely going to have Baker here again next year as his entire salary is guaranteed, so I want him to end the year strong – and if he does, the Bucs still make the playoffs, then who knows.

There are reasons key leaders leave an organization. Both Canales and Coen left after one season. Do you think they saw chaos and dysfunction? Each went to organizations whose dysfunction was obvious; yet each has had success. They both are mentally, emotionally, and internally healthy. Health cures dysfunction. While each is ascending, the continue to spiral downward. If Canales and Coen failed, that’s one thing but their success holds up a huge mirror to show the Bucs FO they need help. Only the Glazers can fix this. Will they?

If Cousins played a Todd Bowles Bucs Defense every week, he would be the GOAT. Tom who?
****************************************************************
Oh so very very close!
It’s not Cousins every week.
But the defensive scheme IS the same, week in and week out!
All it takes is a little film study and any offensive coordinator can figure a way through it…….With over a 90% probability that Bowles will stubbornly NOT CHANGE A SINGLE THING!
A good coach sets his players up to succeed, Bowles sets his up to fail. And then throws them under the bus, “we’re just not communicating out there”.
It’s no freaking wonder that they’re tuning him out!
I called for his release years ago, when he, in his own words, gave up against the Lions in a play-off game.
We could’ve been in play for Harbaugh. How are the Chargers doing?

You are a tool. You think, and opine, as if a team is one person; or a few. A team is everyone. And the head of that team defines it. Baker was a gunslinger last year. Why? Coen. We passed on him. Now his team just blew out their opponent. Why do.you think that is?

Patrick Mahomes today 0TD 1INT. Chiefs fall to 6-8. By Munch standards Mahomes must be cut. Forgot to point out Mahomes sacked 5 times. Without protection most NFL QB’s are pretty ordinary. Baker protection this year lousy which has led to his injuries.
December 14th, 2025 at 4:30 pm
Tomlin? That offensive wizard? We need a Coen clone, with a dc that is competent.
December 14th, 2025 at 4:30 pm
Hahahahahah @ Rod Munch – I actually came here to say the exact same thing LoL. Trevor FREAKING Lawrence had 381-YARDS of total offense, AND 6-TOUCHDOWNS, while hitting 8-DIFFERENT Receivers… EIGHT. SIX-TD’s. Hell, he’s probably going to be NFL Offensive Player of The Week! Cohen’s got HIM of all people, looking like a STAR now!!!! WOW. Maybe, it’s all finally starting to ‘click’ for Ol’ Trevor. I think the JAGS have something like a 10-PICKS in this upcoming draft, too! EVEN though, they (stupidly) gave up their 2026 first for Travis Hunter, AND traded for Jakobi Myers at the deadline. About half of them are prob 6th and 7th rounds, BUT they have about 4-5 picks in rounds 2 thru 4, I think. Cohen now has them 10-4 and should easily be 11-3, had they not inexplicably BLOWN that 4th-Quarter lead in Houston. And, OUR FO CHOSE Bowles! Remember that. It’s something that gets people FIRED (that is unless it was OWNERSHIPS Decision Lmao).

I’m not rooting for the Bucs to lose out……
But A LOT of people wants Todd Bowles to get fired…..ALOT!
December 14th, 2025 at 4:52 pm
@ Rod Munch – yeah, there was nowhere else for Baker to go! REMEMBER… ATL had their chance and THEY CHOSE Cousins over him instead, for MORE MONEY. Then, Baker immediately ’re-upped’ with Tampa. Denver was in a situation where they HAD DO draft a QB… They had no money left to sign one after the Russell Wilson disaster. And, Minnesota had also decided to DRAFT ONE, as soon as they traded for that extra 1st-round pick, in order for just in case they wanted/needed to trade-up to get one. They signed Sam Darnold on the cheap. Should’ve NEVER drafted McCarthy… could see that one coming from a MILE-away, after only throwing something like 26 4th-Quarter PASSES during his final year at Michigan and NEVER putting up hardly any numbers. Anyway, it’s why 90%+ of the fanbase wanted to at least SEE what the hell Trask could do… Cause, Baker looked AWFUL, struggling to throw for a 100-YARDS through the first 3-quarters of almost EVERY GAME. If not for only another horribly weak ‘schedule’ SAVING THEM (and HIM) down the stretch, they wouldn’t had made The Playoffs during that season, EITHER. 💯 That’s why I get SO aggravated when I hear people spew about Baker ‘accepting’ a DISCOUNT. Uhhhh… NO, HE DIDN’T. He took what HE COULD GET. Every last penny. And, that was the whole reason WHY HE WAITED for Curt Cousins to sign FIRST. Then, he jumped as fast as he could after that, before the Bucs could change their minds. There was NOWHERE ELSE, for him to go. TRUTH.
December 14th, 2025 at 4:53 pm
Pretty much to the point that he needs to go. This team is never ready. Any team can just go get a td when they need/want one.

Bowles has lost the defense. Bucs need some better players on defense and a better DC. As always no confidence in Bowles, the game passed him by about 4 years ago. He needs to go along with Licht. Jason has done harm to the defense by drafting guys that can’t play.
December 14th, 2025 at 5:40 pm
Coen wasn’t the answer either. He had a healthier group of guys most of last season. They made him look good. He had Bucky full tilt, and then Bucky was hurt. Something Grizz didn’t have all this season. He got massive injuries. And the way Coen left. Why would we want that?
The Glazers hired Dungy because he was the kind of guy they truly respected and felt would be a great leader as coach. Bowles has the similar personality. I’m not hoping for Todd to be fired, and do want us to win the next three games and more, if we make it. If we don’t get to the play-offs or Super Bowl, we will probably say goodbye to Todd, Jason, and the rest of them.
December 14th, 2025 at 5:42 pm
All it takes is one rotten apple 🍏 to spoil everything. Is it one or several. Come end of season accountability is so important in evaluating who stays and who goes. Hard choices have to be made because the Super Bowl 🏈 windows is still there, SO DO THE RIGHT THING GLAZERS and Jason Licht.
December 14th, 2025 at 5:44 pm
Annnnddd!? How bad did we BEAT THEM (NYJets)!? Took a damn MIRACLE. And the Bucs were at HOME. The Jags were up like 41-13 before they called OFF the Dawgs!!!! What about the other 9-WINS this season (with an inferior roster)… All BAD TEAMS then, I guess. What about ALL the close games the Bucs have played this season… How bout the 3pt game vs Arizona, or the losses to the Saints and Falcons!? I guess those were ALL flukes.
heyjude Says: “It’s the Jets. And the Jags are playing at home.”
So, are you still ‘clinging to’ Bowles being the correct choice then!? And, that Cohen is not doing an ‘unbelievable’ job there!? Are YOU really, going to blame the schedule!? When, hardly NO ONE has played an ‘easier’ schedule than what the Bucs have played over the past 3-4 SEASONS, being in the NFC SOUTH. Is that all ya got!? Why not just admit that the Jags and Cohen had a real nice ‘win’ today!? Is it STILL that hard… Too Soon LoL!? SHEW, Man… Just sayin. I mean, what’s up with all the hate and total biasses. It’s NOT Cohen’s Fault. There’s no need to blame HIM for hurting your feelings. Try placing the blame WHERE ‘IT’ BELONGS. That’s how I choose to deal with it Hahaha. It’s okay… You can ‘admit’ that he’s doing a great job. WAKE UP. Lying to yourself, NEVER makes it better. Just my little therapy session for the day! Haha
December 14th, 2025 at 5:46 pm
That’s fine,Faker too. This 3 year era has been trash. Now a good question someone asked us who would I have replaced Baker with. Fair question. And these last 2 years nobody. I feel Trask not even being on a roster tells us everything we need to know about him and even when he was here,I never brought him up. But now it’s time to reboot. The time for analytic based planning will supercede any singular personnel. 3-4 years of this…
December 14th, 2025 at 5:51 pm
Melvin junior These ppl are so delusional. They think not only the Jags and Coen would prefer Baker over Lawrence but they would give up draft picks to do it 😂😂😂. I thought this was the State of Florida. Not the State of Delusion lol. Time to reboot it face financial ramifications down the road. Unlike the Brady era, the Faker era has not been prosperous enough to warrant such penalties. Losing records, mid season slumps, week 18 division clinching-9 win seasons simply won’t do.
December 14th, 2025 at 5:51 pm
HeyJude, Coen is 10-4 in Jacksonville. Yeah, he agreed to an OC deal here until he was offered the head coaching job in Jax. Was it cool the way it ended here? No. However, totally understand that he took the loot and the more prestigious title.
December 14th, 2025 at 5:53 pm
Yikes MelvinJunior! I am not losing any sleep over Coen. When a person shows you who they are, listen to it. He showed his true character. And the players helped him get the HC job. They made him look good. And actually, under Todd, both he and Canales got HC jobs. Gotta give some kudos to Todd in knowing who to hire in as OC.

Still scratching my head how ppl lump Goff and Baker together. Huge gap in stats, winning and post season success. Goff only 6 months older but has had like 3x the career. Just thinking….Herbert on the Bucs and Baker on the Chargers. We’d be SB contenders and they would be on contention for the #1 pick and scouting college QBs.
December 14th, 2025 at 6:02 pm
Cowturd talked quite a bit on Friday, about how Bowles is not a really good coach. And, how he was being ‘propped up’ by having TWO really good coaches as OC’s there to back him up! That they could get things back in-line, and hold the locker-room together, & etc. He said he’s NOT saying that the current OC (Grizzard) is horrible or anything… That he might still end up being a good coach in the future.
The thing being, ANYONE could ‘plainly’ see THIS. I said all along that it was COHEN who saved Todd’s JOB. A mixture of mostly Winfield Jr with a little bit of Canales thrown-in, SAVED-IT the season before. Todd Bowles is clueless as a HC. Nothing HE SAYS or DOES, ever makes any sense or adds-up! And, this WHY I started screaming-it EARLY, even DURING the season last year (still with 4-5 games left to play)… That the Bucs Owners & FO BETTER BE getting their sheet together, & etc. etc. etc. etc. Concerning COHEN. It was SO OBVIOUS. You’d think ANYONE could see-it!? But there were so many, who just flat-out REFUSED to admit this. Either, they were completely BLIND or just plain-old LIARS. The FO and Owners KNEW they ‘screwed-up’ MISERABLY. This is why they ‘freaked-out’ SO HARD and then started PANICKING. Of course, AFTER finding-out that he was already in Jacksonville, and meeting with the JAGS OWNER. They knew HE wasn’t “weak” (Khan).
It’s mind-blowing to me at what they did… Or, DIDN’T Do. It just showed how WEAK they are. It was SO EASY. They HAVE TO Hit A HOMERUN here with this next hire. Or we’ll be haunted for a real long time. They have to get-it RIGHT. And that can only happen if first, they get rid of Lickt AND Bowles. That is the only way.

There really are less than a dozen current Bucs that should be here next year. Pretty easy to see which ones. A new coaching staff, with new ideas will help, a new QB will also help. Baker has been a good person but either he’s really hurt or his capabilities have completely evaporated after a 6-1 start. There is no spin that Jason and Todd can try in three weeks when the Bucs clean house. I hope they try a fresh look instead of re-treads.
December 14th, 2025 at 6:43 pm
MikeBuc – NOPE. It’s just YOU Baker-Bois who only try to make everyone else ‘look-like’ Trask-Lovers, for just being honest, and only speaking the TRUTH. Baker was a free agent, and was free to sign with the Bucs or whomever HE WANTED. Just like Cousins. But, Baker had NO other offers. It was (well-known) ‘announced or rumored’ that ATL had already chosen and reached a deal with Curt (behind the scenes) even during the ‘no-tampering’ period. There was some talk about them possibly even getting in trouble. But, they could’ve definitely decided to sign Baker had they WANTED. And, that was EXACTLY what Baker wanted… He of course, wanted to drive up THE PRICE. Like, a bidding war. But, that did NOT happen. ATL chose Cousins, and then Baker re-upped with Tampa Bay IMMEDIATELY. Then, Cousins signed as a free agent with ATL just a couple of days later, in order to make-it ‘official’ after the non tampering period had expired. You Baker Bois just CAN’T STAND IT. That nobody else wanted your precious little Bake. So, you try to make the rest of us look like haters for being forced to set YOUR delusions straight. The Baker Bois have been farrrrr WORSE than the very few Trask-Lovers. 💯
December 14th, 2025 at 6:47 pm
Agree with Rod. You expect your #1 QB to execute the two minute drive. That’s why we paid him. He was good at it weeks 1-5 but definitely has slumped. You’re not winning a playoff game if your QB can’t execute, I don’t care how bad the defense is.
I think Bakers our QB though, at least through next year, and if he wants an extension he had time to earn it with the rest of this year and the next

PFR used to have a column that would show all the defensive stats for passing – but they removed it. Makes no sense, as it included everything. Just dumb.
Anywho, checking some other sites, here’s what I could find.
Not that it means much as a stand alone number anymore, but you can use the old broken passer rating to at least compare teams and years.
And in that regard, the Bucs defense is doing better than last year!
Currently the Bucs are giving up a team passer rating of 96.2, which is 23rd. Last year the Bucs had a 97.3 – so they’ve improved by over a point! So things are getting better, from really really bad, to really really bad minus 1.1. As a point of reference, Baker has a 90.6 passer rating, his worst number since he’s been here.
December 14th, 2025 at 6:51 pm
Maybe three or four guys on defense are starters, the rest are backups or shouldn’t be on the roster. The D line is pathetic, linebackers are slow and secondary is just plain bad. Almost no one can tackle at the second level.
My guess is that the Glazers are really unhappy about the dump that this team takes every year. I am betting Bowles is let go at the end of the season. Licht should also be gone. This team needs an entirely new coaching staff and a GM that is not so tied to the draft.

He still has a chance to catch fire, and if he does so, the Bucs make the playoffs. It’s all still in his hands, and I do not discount the idea of him coming through.
And I agree, he’s the QB next year, pretty much by default since his money is all guaranteed. That is also why it’s still likely that Bowles is back next year. With Baker and other players like Evans and Godwin and Vita – all older players, I don’t think they want to do a teardown, and short of getting someone like Tomlin coming in, I’d think a new head coach would also mean a full rebuild, and I think they’d likely kick the can down the road one more year.

So Winston has the better win percentage, and those wins were coming vs HOF Matt Ryan and Roddy White and Julio Jones, not scrubs like the Falcons have been using for years now.
Just like Winston was facing MVP Cam Newton and HOF’er Drew Brees every year, not scrubs like the Panthers and Saints have been rolling out for years now.
Put Winston in this pitiful, weak NFC South, and he’d also be winning it by default every year.

@ MikeBuc – I absolutely did NOT get any dates “wrong,” whatsoever. That would be YOU. Every single BIT of this was all done behind closed doors and was all VERY well-known, and REPORTED. And, that is WHY the Falcons got into trouble. The dates ‘officially’ were only a formality… Baker ‘signing’ 3-days before Cousins, is entirely irrelevant. The “Cousins Deal” was already a DONE DEAL, way before Baker agreed and then signed with the Bucs. IF ATL had really WANTED Baker, then they wouldn’t have JUMPED (and cheated) to get COUSINS. Baker was hoping for MORE $$$$. But, he had no other options. NONE. So, he took exactly what HE COULD GET. Period. End of Story.
December 14th, 2025 at 7:27 pm
Unbelievable the saints call a qb draw with no timeouts left 12 seconds and the panthers commit a stupid penalty 🤣
December 14th, 2025 at 7:28 pm
The “ATL-Cousins Deal,” immediately put an END to Baker’s BIG ‘cashing-in’ on free-agency Dreams. There was nowhere else to turn, so HE immediately took what he could GET from the Bucs. It’s just as simple as that. It’s not rocket science. It only takes a little common sense. There was NO “discount.” It would’ve been STUPID for the Bucs to offer HIM anything more than what HE GOT. Cause, otherwise they would’ve only been ‘bidding against’ THEMSELVES. Cousins had already AGREED to the ATL Deal, & then there was nowhere else left for Bake Bake to go!!!!

The Falcons were all over him Thursday night…but if we had 22 guys on the field built like him, we would be formidable for anybody…Cousins coming back from the grave against Blows defense is the side of the ball that needs changing…and that right soon

December 14th, 2025 at 8:44 pm
The way I’m reading it is that Bowles is finally getting fed up that the players he is given on defense are no good. And I don’t mean AWJ or LVD because I’m constantly seeing them correcting/teaching other players in the middle of the game.
having said that, if he lost the locker room or if he lost faith in his players, it’s fairly telling that he’s not able to elevate them and he’s made some serious strategic mistakes so I think it’s fair that he’s on the hot seat. I would never have said this 2 to 3 games ago.
Yes Baker is middling ie good but with people like Canales & Coen he was great.
I still think the guy is top 8 in TDs and top 12 in yards so while he’s not MVP he’s definitely top 10. take it out leave it he’s our guy and he’s better than what’s out there. We all saw Minchew crap the bed today.

& yes you heard me right…. Licht isn’t getting Bowles the players he needs.
SVD, Reddick, Mccallum, Tykee, Parrish are not good enough to be starters.
We are missing Carlton Davis.

Vrabel’s team collapsed and lost to the Bills. Tomlin has been the coach of the most boring team in football for ages. I can’t think of a coach I’d like here over what we have except maybe McVay and he’s not coming here. I think we should stick with who we got and clean out the refuse in the locker room who will just do the same thing to the next coach.

If we can get our guard situation straightened out, we should have an entirely explosive offense now. That’s the good news. Maybe the D will play better protecting a big lead.

Alvin Scissors Harper – I get it. However, professionally you should never burn your bridges because you never know when you may want to return. Just saying, he wasn’t professional in the way he handled it. In a few years, he may wish he handled it differently.
