“It Is The Single Worst Loss That Any Team Has Suffered This Entire NFL Season”

December 13th, 2025

Pulls no punches.

Well, Joe guesses this is one thing for Bucs fans to be proud of.

Closet Bucs fan Peter Schrager has taken his street cred to BSPN. Regular readers know what Joe thinks of BSPN. So, sadly, Joe doesn’t get to see a lot of what Schrager has to say anymore.

It sucks because Joe is a big fan of Schrager.

He, like all Bucs fans, are outraged at what happened on Thrusday night. Joe even suspects that Schrager, as a pure football fan, didn’t even expect what was to come, even though Joe could see this truck coming straight down I-275.

Schrager said in no uncertain terms there is no loss in the NFL this season as bad as what the Bucs shat out on the field of The Licht House against the Dixie Chicks.

“It is the single worst loss that any team has suffered this entire NFL season,” Schrager said, incredulous at the outcome. “You consider the stakes and what was at cost? That’s an eliminated team already, the Atlanta Falcons. They’re playing without Drake London, their best wide receiver. …

“A hard, hard loss. They were up 14 points in the fourth quarter to a team that’s already been eliminated at home and, oh, by the way, the Falcons had 19 penalties last night.

“Inexplicable! If you’re a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, you are sick.”

Yeah, yeah, yeah, Joe knows the Bucs are still in the hunt for NFC South title. But man, was that a dead man walking team on Thursday night, specifically the defense.

Bucs coach Todd Bowles after the game looked like a totally defeated man. Like his soul was ripped from him. How does a bad team — and that’s what the Bucs are right now, a bad team, let’s be real here — bounce back from that?

The only way Joe can see the Bucs saving their season if the offense goes out and puts up 40 points in both games against the Stinking Panthers.

As good as the Bucs’ offense looked Thursday night (sans the interior blocking), they still only scored 28 points. But the offense finally breaking out with all the skill positions healthy may be their only hope.

  1. Let em Bake Says:

watching the Buc’s documentary, I thought, “this family is not getting any younger. ” I don’t see Bowles next year. I see a big swing. Too many decent pieces here. With a healthy offense, a middle of pack defense would get it done.

  2. Obvious Says:

I’m very surprised by the total collapse. I’m not surprised at all that a 60 yr old defensive HC is in over his head in 2025.

I have no idea how the glazers thought that this would work long term.

  3. Jmarkbuc Says:

The Glazers relied on Jive talking BA. They got no pushback from Bud Licht who spends most of the time blending in to the woodwork.

BA saved Bud Lichts job once.. now he’s going to cost him his job.

  4. Ugh Says:

I’ve read this site for years. I’ve never posted. I’ve watched some really really terrible Bucs ball. This game was the most devastating I can remember. Mike being so distraught captured all our feelings. Third and 28… Lavonte’s last season being just absolutely wasted. I’m tired.

  5. Funderstruck Says:

Let Em Bake is channeling the same thoughts I have. The release of this documentary dooms Bowles on so many levels. We all watch and see it as a precedent for what they *must* do next.

We didn’t need jury tampering, but we got it and are in full agreement.

  6. Tony Says:

I think alot of them are to blame. Between Bowles Licht & the Glazers. The D has the talent on it but somebody else needs to take over & it would probably turn around after that. There’s no way the D should be struggling like this with players like Lavonte Vita Antoine Yaya Kancey & some of them. Sure Lavonte is older now but he’s still capable of being a reliable LB & I think they should seriously consider moving Kancey to DE.

  7. Stallworth Says:

This loss must be a kick in the nuts for the Glazers. Thursday night on Amazon, the same day your multimillion dollar docuseries debuts you lose in spectacular fashion. To a team that is already eliminated, who committed 19 penalties. Without their best WR and QB who is out to pasture. Coached by a former Bucs HC. Came from behind down 14 points halfway through the 4th qtr to kick a game winning FG as time expired. Glazers who take extreme pride in the on field product must be extremely besides themselves. I would be.

Schrager is 100% spot on, this was the worst loss this season by any team.

  8. Steven007 Says:

I agree with the sentiment here. Watched the first five episodes and was struck by a few things. One, how completely different and utterly unlike our past defenses, our current defense looks. Two, to the glazers Philosophy throughout the episode as I’ve watched with them doesn’t bode well for the coach.

  9. Tye Says:

Until the owners step up and do the right thing, It sure doesn’t seem like winning is all that important to them…

  10. Waterboy Says:

It’s not coaching when you give up a 3rd and 28 with the game on the line that’s unfortunately a lack of heart. A lot of guys on that defense need to be gone next season.

  11. LANshark Says:

This team does not deserve to make the playoffs. It’s just exactly that simple.

Tank for better draft position at this point.

  12. Love-spiral Says:

    Worstest lost of the seaston

  13. SOFIERCE Says:

I bought a toilet seat, and wrote Fire Bowls in red. I will wear it around Tampa.

  14. FortMyersDave Says:

LOL SoFierce. The only way I am staying positive is that I remind myself that the Saints beating the Bucs will probably cost them a chance at drafting a franchise QB in April. Art Blank may decide to keep Cousins as his QB while they figure out what is up wth Penix and the Falcon win, costs the Rams a few spots in the draft because the Falcons did use their 2026 first round pick to get that Pearce kid from the Vols who got multiple sacks Thursday night, the same kid that Licht deemed a character risk. Maybe the cancers in the locker room will expose Licht’s use of “good character” as a big decider if to target someone in the draft under review. The loss should mean the end of Bowles, hopefully next year the defense will actually abolish soft zone and use edge rusher to rush, not get burned over the middle by pass after pass. The loss could also expose the cancers in the locker room and perhaps some will be removed via trade, free agency, etc….. Perhaps Licht is held accountable for not being able to

  15. FortMyersDave Says:

(continued) evaluate properly in some areas such as edge rush and be forced to seek outside help. Perhaps he will be told that he is not in mensa and thus should not think that every draft pick has to be hoarded and make a trade or 2. Heck trade some of the Bucs so called “character” guys on D like Winfield and Zyon…..

Another plus is that the Bucs will have a second or third place schedule, let the Panthers play the NFC elite with the first place schedule team. BTW, Mike Evans was one of the few Bucs who gave 110% last night, his reaction after the D lost the game shows that he cares, those Bucs who were all giddy on the sideline after the game should be put on notice. The way I look at it the Bucs and us Buc fans have hit rock bottom. From rock bottom, there is only one way to go. Up!

  16. Mr. Barf Says:

    3rd & 28….4th & 14…rinse & repeat

  17. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

    This season is over.

The Dolphins are going to kick our a$$ and the Panthers will beat us at least once out of those 2 games.

    Postseason hopes gone.

  18. garro Says:

This is reminding me of the 2002 team. Lots of strange things happening at One Buc.

    Go Bucs!

  19. Let em bake Says:

I watched that last play several times. Sills was covered in press man. Why? If he was not supposed to be there.. call a time out! Huddle your defense and remind them their rolls. I know, they should know better, but this unit time and time again busts coverages. We have a reactive coach, when proactive measures , in game, are needed. I remember shanahan seeing Steve Wilkes ( dc) fiail to correct a coverage during the Super Bowl and called a critical time out to fix the coverage. Don’t think I’ve ever seen that with Bowles ….

  20. MadMax Says:

All good….lining up for draft position…LETS GO!!!!

  21. MadMax Says:

Keep giving up….just a little D…just a little D, kid playing mfs….YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!

  22. MadMax Says:

This all started when Reddick came here….he should be let go immediately….I see it, others see it….hes become a locker room cancer! And yes, it doesnt help that Todd dont know what hes doing…he has to go too….

  23. teacherman Says:

Chukwuma is way better than Mike Jordan or Feeney.

Put Wirfs at LG. He’s massive.

    Put Chukwuma at LT.

  24. heyjude Says:

Yes, it was a very tough loss. We are sick over it and the Bucs could of and should of won. The Falcons had so many penalties. But the refs didn’t fully help us either. It was a heart-breaker for us. However, the Panthers could lose this weekend, and the Falcons could lose next weekend.

Todd is toxic trending now, and it seems as though everyone are now going after him. It isn’t all on Todd’s shoulders. Many are on the hot seat in the league right now. If Todd goes; coaches, staff, trainers, Grizz, Jason, and others will most likely go too. Total rebuild. And if Todd goes to another team, would Baker go with him? A lot could happen.

Watching the “Raise the Flags’ 50 years, it does feel like going back in history. The Glazers have the money to rebuild. They give to many, many other projects. When needed, they could do it. We don’t know the fine print in Todd and Jason’s extended contracts either. So everything is fluid. But will firing Todd and others solve all problems?

Hoping the Bucs win the rest of the games. Can’t give up. And we can’t do a replay of the Lovie/Jason time before we got Jameis. Go Bucs!

  25. Cleanhouse Says:

    We’re not a bad team…we are not a good team….

    We are 7-7.

    An average team.

We still have a chance to go 10-7

I have a feeling they are going to pick themselves up and surprise everyone.

  26. Hodad Says:

heyjude, if Todd goes to another team? Put down the pipe, no team is going to hire that clown. The only reason Todd is a HC is because his boy Arians gifted it to him. Todd was never going to get a HC job in the league. The Glazers should’ve never went along with that scam. They will rectify that mistake at seasons end.

  27. MJ Says:

why dont we get the Kelvin Sheppard for HC? they punched us in the face and knocked out literally our HOF receiver with back up dbs!!
Key Aspects of Kelvin Sheppard’s Defense:
Philosophy: Focuses on “relentless effort,” “nasty,” “tenacious” play, and accountability, with players supporting each other.
Adaptability: Builds schemes around existing talent, unlike rigid systems, allowing for versatility.
“Firefighters”: Calls his defense “firefighters,” ready to put out fires and make critical stops.
Player-Driven: Believes in putting players in positions to succeed, leveraging their strengths.

  28. JA Says:

When Bowles was promoted, my Jets fan friend from NY immediately called laughing and said it was a hire that Tampa would soon regret. And to prepare for a slow burn before it all blows up. Todd kills teams slowly. Quite the prognosticator, my friend.
We spoke at length, and from that day forward I was never a Bowles backer—Day 1!
Two months ago, many here had the Bucs winning the Super Bowl and Baker winning the MVP. Where are you now?
I was called a HATER for speaking my version of the truth when, in reality, I wanted nothing more than for this team to excel. I just never believed we’d do it with Todd Bowles.
    The experiment is over.
Players are hanging heads, dragging chins on the sidelines.
Dean was willing to give up 8 million to get out of here.
Every injury comes with the mystery of a poorly written novel.
Trask, no matter what you think of him, was never given a shot and was back stabbed out the door. He was the better backup option.
And so on … and on …
Yeah, there’s still a mathematical chance to win the division as we control our own destiny. But with morale so “high,” does anybody think it achievable?

  29. Conte Piscatelli Says:

Still no one talking about the “Simultaneous Possession” call that sealed this loss! If the refs don’t make that ridiculous call the Bucs as crappy as we are, still sit in the drivers seat. The league appears to be covering this up like it’s related to the Epstein files. No one, not the game broadcast, not the local or national media has said a thing about a call that doesn’t exist! Why hasn’t the team filled a formal complaint with the league? The officiating in this league is criminal!

  30. JA Says:

    Conte——
“The officiating in this league is criminal.”
Agree, especially if I was a Falcons fan who watched his team overcome 19 penalties, many of them bogus, to win the game.
And you complain about one call/non call against the Bucs?
The Bucs had numerous opportunities to put this game away, and the refs did all they could to help. And they still couldn’t do it.
Baker, despite a great run for a few games, has become the Baker many of us thought he was. And that’s not a good thing.
Watching a player who was teetering on the edge of greatness, suddenly fall into the pit stink is disheartening to say the least.
My disdain for Bowles is well documented, but Baker has had more than his share of poor play to bring this team down.

  31. Kenton Smith Says:

About halfway through Raise the Flags. Enjoy seeing Ira and his role. I had forgotten Lynch was a baseball player too. Great Defense was what I remember Tampa being about but my memory didn’t do that late 90’s early 2000’s defense justice. They may have been as good a defense in the history of the league. And the Glazer’s siblings have a passion for the game that seems genuine. Hope we can keep Bowles because I think he’s a good football coach.

  32. Hodad Says:

JA, my nephew who’s a Jet fan told me the same thing. I was never on board with the Bowles succession plan. I have never been a fan of Bowles. I’m not a fan of defensive HCs. When he was promoted, we all knew his defense was flawed. We won with Gruden, and Arians, need an offensive minded HC in a league that’s driven by offense. Glazers blew it letting Coen walk for Bowles. Hopefully they fire Bowles, and find the next Coen. Joe’s job might depend on it. I know I’ll checkout if bowles is retained. They’ll be nothing new to read about if Bowles returns. We’ve seen that movie more than we would’ve liked already, we know the ending.

  33. Jameis Says:

I pray we do not make the playoffs. Who wants to watch us get our asses kicked? This team has no heart, regardless of talent. Watching this version is a waste of time. They suck. Pretty simple. Ship ain’t turning around. How many players need to yell at the team? Smh. Bunch of f@ckin amateurs Donny

  34. NCbucfan Says:

    “Kirk 3rd and 28”

  35. Warrenfb12 Says:

I didn’t think the offense looked good. Baker was seeing ghosts. Doesn’t look the same

  36. NCbucfan Says:

This loss feels worse than the colts coming back from 35-14 in 2003. I mean at least that was a HOF QB with a great offense. We let Kirk “garbage” Cousins do this to us. He struggles against everyone else. He would be a HOFer if he played us every week.

  37. Conte Piscatelli Says:

JA, you are correct that the Bucs had no business winning this game but the Falcons 19 penalties are because they are a bad team, and bad teams make what 5-6 false start penalties alone. Bad penalty calls are a problem, but simultaneous possession on a fumble? Maybe if two guys clearly got the ball at one time in the open field, but in a scrum it has always been who ever wanted it most at the bottom of that pile. Do I think we deserved to win? No, might be better in the long run that we lost. My issue is that this awful call has been swept under the rug, out maybe it’s just that no one outside Tampa even watched this game.

  38. JohnQCitizen Says:

Bowles hasn’t been called to the office yet? What’s wrong with the Glazers?

  39. NCbucfan Says:

Our DBs are still having communication issues, big shocker. Pair that with a non existent pass rush, and you have a defense rivaling that of the lost decade. Todd Bowels= Mike Smith

  40. Usedtocould Says:

Ah, the team imploding, my main focus is our undrafted offensive tackle, and my true love, Joebucsfan giving me entertainment….it feels like I’m 10 years younger

  41. NCbucfan Says:

We wasted a great Mikey performance, he looked in vintage form. If we lose him next year, I will be very upset, but I wouldn’t blame him. I think he knows the specter of Brady’s winning ways is vanishing from the team. The stench of the lost decade is returning. And the ironic thing is that Raheem(who kicked off the lost decade)has owned the Bucs these last 2 years. If not for Baker’s heroics week 1, he would be 4-0 against us.

  42. NCbucfan Says:

At least Mike Smith never let Matt Ryan throw for over 500 yds during his tenure. Don’t think he ever gave up a 3rd and 28 either.

  43. NCbucfan Says:

We brought in Schiano, the disciplinarian, because of Raheem. Remember 2011 I think was our franchise record for the amount of penalties. 19 penalties. You can’t make this stuff folks.

  44. SB~LV Says:

    YEP !
and the POINT of the loss
Had nothing to do with the POINTS!
    🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Same old pattern with the Glazers and coaches going back to Dungy
    and Jamyth
It’s one thing to be patient and give things time and other to hold on too long wishing and hoping for a turnaround
That’s why you hire a professional manager
    Jason????

Ronde Barber 4 Next GENERAL MANAGER

  45. NCbucfan Says:

I second that SB! Rondé for GM!!!
